My feet were dirty after walking around the room for just 30 minutes after I got out of the shower…read more I had to rinse my feet off again before getting in bed. The breakfast that was advertised was just a tray of granola bars, juice and coffee. We were not warned that there was going to be construction on the property during our stay. The maintenance man actually banged loudly on our door before 9am despite having a "do not disturb" sign up. The cleaning carts were also very loud as they were rolled on the sidewalk just outside our room, also before 9am and could hear the employees talking. We expressed the inconvenience of the maintenance man banging on our door repeatedly and waking us up. He said he would look into it. At checkout the next morning (4/28) we had to bring it up again because we received no follow up. The explanation we received was that it was a mistake. We asked if we could be discounted or anything done for the inconvenience. He continued to just explain that it was a mistake and even shared photos of the repairs that were supposed to be done in the room next to us. The customer service at this point was insulting in the way he would disregard that I was having a serious complaint and just proceeded to handle our checkout and say "you're all set." This is supposed to be a business that provides the service of hospitality. It did not feel that way.

Overall this place was terrible and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemies!!!! STAY ELSEWHERE TRUST ME!!!

I told him that the smell of weed has been coming into my room for two days all morning before we leave and all night. He basically hung up on me and made me feel like he did not care. Absolutely disgusting place. Dirty, maids don't even has a mop on their cart to clean the floor. I had to borrow their Clorox spray and do it myself. Unfortunately I booked through Expedia and they won't give me a refund. Bottom line..... find somewhere that is better than this crap hole

What I really appreciated was the new (or at least new looking), clean bathroom with a clean and functional bathroom fan, and the glorious shower with a big shower head. Given the importance of a good night's sleep, the location some distance away from the main road earns them an extra point. What detracted from an otherwise fantastic stay was the gap under the door (pictured) through which cold winter air seeped through, and the mattress with a slight sag. I hope they improve and continue to do well.

While I…read morepraise the historic charm, expansive gardens, and opulent Gilded Age aesthetic, I noted the aging room interiors, inconsistent restaurant service, and occasional amenity limitations compared to modern luxury hotels. I as a guest Guests noted the "Great Gatsby" vibe and the magical feeling of staying in the second-largest private home in America. The historic guided tours of the estate are highly recommended. The formal European-style gardens and sweeping outdoor terraces are what I considered the highlight of the property. Located on Long Island's Gold Coast, it is an incredibly convenient and picturesque escape for New York City locals. I feel that that the historic rooms lean slightly toward being dark or dated, lacking the ultra-modern luxury touches expected at this price point. While the OHK Bar & Restaurant receives praise for its upscale European ambiance, reviews note that the food quality and service speed can occasionally fall short, especially for basic breakfast or brunch orders. Unlike standard luxury resorts, the estate has a limited number of staterooms and can feel relatively quiet or lacking in on-site activities once the outdoor spaces have been explored. Still, it is quite an experience visiting this opulent gilded age castle.

The grounds here are lovely and there was no wedding or private event so we got to explore the grounds and rooms which was super cool. The dining area is smaller than expected but that's fine with me - makes it more intimate. The menu is a little limited but I was able to find the pacchieri alà vodka with fresh pasta and I really enjoyed it! I got a mocktail as well, which was also refreshing. For an app we shared the truffle fries because although this is fine dining -fries always hit the spot amirite?! I loved the sorbet dessert, hubs didn't love his as much - an apple pie turnover of sorts. Service was attentive and friendly. I'd return for drinks and an app but it is pretty pricey to come for dinner if it's not a special occasion.

We had taken a red eye and called to see if early check in was available. It was over a holiday weekend so the area was busy to begin with. The front desk person we spoke to on the phone was not very friendly and quick to say no. Not a big deal, but was something we noted. During check in, it was the same person and she seemed very distracted. She had down that I was only staying one night, but we had booked five. She was able correct her mistake shortly, but she did not look up at me once! Aside from the unwelcoming energy and mix up on reservations, the check in process was easy. The room itself was spacious. Bed was comforable. The kitchen had all of the necessary kitchenware to make do for a few days. They left one dishwasher packet. The trash cans were tiny for a full size kitchen. The fridge was SO loud, but it did eventually quiet down. We were able to control the temp of the room and it was comfortable during our stay. Cleanliness was ok. I wish I took pictures but there were stains on the walls and the air was a bit musty. The toilet and plumbing had issues. It got clogged several times (I swear it was not a us problem lol) while we were there and each time, someone had to come unclog it or during after hours, we had to unclog it ourselves. It seems they only had one plunger for the whole hotel! We started using the lobby bathroom because it was such an issue. They offer a gym which was clean with a great variety of working equipment. We did not use the pool area, but it was a good size. The hot tub, unfortunately, looked unclean with a large amount of foam. We did not bother because of that. On the morning of check out (around 9AM), we had housekeeping knock on our door two seperate occasions (But within 15 min of each other) to come in and clean. I told them that we would be checking out today and do not need cleaning until after we leave. They asked me what time, so I told them closer to check out time. All morning long, all I could hear was housekeeping knocking on people's doors. It was very bizarre. One big highlight was the breakfast buffet. Having a complimentary hot breakfast with decent and varied options was lovely. They switched things up at the egg/meats bar, but also had cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, waffles, baked goods on the daily. A good amount of coughing kids, so bring hand sani and wipes to keep yourself healthy! Overall, a good central location to where we needed to be. Parking was ample. The space was decently comfortable with some room for improvement on the overall experience We loved having a kitchen but did not use it much this trip. I would stay again.

Last weekend I saw them doing the impossible! The wedding ceremony was to take place outside and everything was ready. A few minutes before seating down it started raining. Here's what happened: the staff took apart the reception room and set it up as a ceremony room, in minutes! Everything went on schedule. Afterwards while the people were at the cocktail hour, they transformed the "ceremony room" into to a dining room! Everything was flawless and there was enough time for the bride and groom to take their pictures with all the decorations! Weddings are once in a lifetime events and these people have the knowledge and the muscle power to make everything run smoothly! Honestly I didn't know this was possible. They did it all with a smile on their faces, most of the guests had no clue as to what happened. There's some things that money can't buy this is one of them!

The getting ready room was huge, I think it was called the Hunt Room, located in the Inn next door. It was a large Bridal Party, 16, and the room accomodated everyone plus makeup artists and hair stylists. A quick walk to the venue, we took a peek at the ceremony area outside and the grounds. The ceremony area was decorated impeccable, really beautiful! The weather was perfect, the previous Sunday was the torrential rain storms from morning to night! The bridal attendant catered to my daughter the entire affair. There was mixed reactions about the food. It all comes down to your prefference and food selection which I wasn't included in at all. They didn't skimp on anything and the service was exceptional, professional and accomodating. Unfortunately for me I missed half the cocktail hour because the family pictures ran late but from what I got to e perience, everything in the cocktail was perfect. Lots of pass arounds, the little franks were delicious, chinese section was above average, the meats in the carving station were tender and flavorful. The entire affair was very organized. The room where the reception was held was just beautiful and decorated lovely! Service again was top notch and guests were given a choice of 10 dinner selections. I have to be honest, I did not choose well. The Filet Mignon I ordered medium but it was more on the well done side and really not much gravy. I didnt like the Potato Au Gratin that came with it but others raved about all the food. The Duck many said was above average. I would definitely recommend having a wedding at The Fox Hollow. They really went out of their way to make my daughters wedding flawless and it was absolutely a day to remenber!
