Check-in went smoothly and we had a very nice suite-like room with a kitchen, living room, bedroom, sink area, and bathroom. The bed was comfy, the HVAC controls worked fine, and the TV and WIFI were excellent. The shower temperature and pressure were perfect. However, there were some Annoying, Disappointing, and Absurd observations that impacted this three-star rating. What was Annoying? The bathroom fan and shower were guilty of annoyance in the first degree. When you turned on the light switch, the ceiling fan would slowly fire up and soon hit such a loud volume that I thought someone in the room next door was taking a shower. And then when we were taking our showers, there was a bizarre beeping noise that came from deep within the bowels of the plumbing system. Seriously, I thought it was an alarm or a phone beeping. What was Disappointing? Simply put, breakfast was disappointing. They had had the usual breakfast offerings -cereal, muffins, yogurt, fruit, and a waffle maker. But there were only two hot trays -scrambled eggs and sausage patties. The lack of hot choices when compared to comparable hotel breakfasts was disappointing. Oh, and the tray of bananas was empty for quite a while, and we gave up waiting for it to be replenished. What was Absurd? This hotel is in an open suburban space next to a shopping center and a movie theater. I looked out the window of my room and must have seen 75 available parking spots in the hotel lot. So, all that makes it particularly galling and absurd that the Marriott charges a $12/night parking fee. What's also annoying is that the fee is kind of hidden, and the cost was never directly vocalized when we checked in- just a "we'll take a credit card imprint for incidentals". read more

So this hotel is in a nice central area, with truly welcoming and nice staff. I was here for work and a 4 night stay. They are dog friendly which is a plus for those traveling with their furries. My room was very comfortable, clean and sleep quality was good. I never did the breakfast, but big respect for the great morning coffee! I did find that they do not keep the common areas very tidy. Might be a staffing issue, but there was trash in several areas including the stairwells and my last day I could clearly tell nobody had vacuumed the stairwell the entire time I was there. I did have housekeeping the third day of my stay/after my second night but it was not thorough- they just made the bed, left fresh towels, emptied the trash and ran my coffee cups through the dishwasher. Totally fine but No vacuuming ( there was stuff on the floor from my shoes the day before), did not leave any coffee in room and had clearly not wiped the bathroom vanity area down. I am not very messy so it was a non issue. Some of the people that stay here may be a little strange (maybe that is everywhere) as on my third morning, I opened my door and there was a balled up dirty sheet that someone had clearly intentionally left right there! Very bizarre. Between the good and strange I would stay here again, I really liked the staff and my room was very comfortable! read more

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. We came late and naturally got the handicapped room (136, I believe). It was clean, spacious, and quiet. Total win. We brought our own dinner and there were enough plates to serve 4 people in the family... which worked for us. Like all Residence Inns, the kitchen was stocked, but this one was newer and nicer than most, IMO. The breakfast was great for grab and go since COVID -- no "open" breakfast buffet, but I like it this way because we were able to grab a muffin/breakfast sandwich, fruit, and drink and head back to our room or out for the day. It's located in the same large shopping center as the mall. Was a total win for us. Would stay again. read more

Okay, maybe 4 1/2 stars would be more accurate, but we lived in this hotel for almost six months after our house was flooded from bad pipes. If you live in a hotel for that long, and they live up to expectations the entire time, I think they deserve five stars, even with a flaw or two. The hotel is a good price for the space you get. It's certainly convenient with a few restaurants and the movie theater right within walking distance. It's super easy to jump on the Expressway or Nichols Rd as well to get around the area. We found the staff so exceptionally nice and infinitely helpful. They never scowled or indicated being in a bad mood... they always provided service with a smile and were super friendly. They came to know us obviously, and were never anything but welcoming and pleasant. They offer free dinners a few nights a week (simple buffet style, fixed menu), which we really appreciated while living there. The rooms have full kitchens, but it was nice to not always cook and get a free dinner. They also have free breakfast every day which we also appreciated. My only complaint was that sometimes, not often, the hallways could have been just a little cleaner. Quite a few local people seem to live there because of situations like our own, which I'm sure makes it a little more difficult to maintain, but there were some days we thought maybe the elevators and halls could use a better vacuuming. Overall though, I would not hesitate to stay there again in a crisis (but hopefully won't have to!)... and I'd definitely recommend it to people traveling from out of town. They have a shuttle to and from the airport and it might even go by the train station. Love this place. Have stayed here multiple times in the past. This hotel is in the perfect location. It's located in a parking lot with a Chili's, Island16, Italian restaurant, subway and an On the Border. Staff was very efficient and friendly when we checked in. This hotel is super clean and the facilities are well kept. Came here with my boyfriend for a staycation. We stayed in the King bedroom suite. The bed is incredibly comfy and soft. The room features great amenities such as a full kitchen stocked with dishware, a fridge, a couch and a little table to eat. Feels like your own mini apartment! The hotel offers complimentary breakfast every morning and it's good! They have many options to choose from: bagels, french toast, sausage, oatmeal, eggs, muffins...the list goes on! Parking is also free, they give you a pass to put in your window. Only slight issue we had here was NOISE. It's a quiet hotel but we could hear people running upstairs, talking through the walls, the ice maker and the pipes were loud when someone used the faucet in other rooms. Nice enough Residence Inn, in a really out of the way location. Tucked in at the end of a long access road, behind a large movie theater The rooms are suite sized, with a full kitchen/living room. The bedroom, bathroom and kitchen were clean while the living room couch was seemed a little bit worn. There was a nice free breakfast buffet in the lobby, including eggs, bacon, waffles, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee and cold beverages. Breakfast seating was limited and it turned out easier to bring the food upstairs to the room. Check out was noon, which was nice! There was a nice looking pool and workout room, although we didn't end up using them. There was also a schedule posted in the room of weekly "happy hours" and other activities, none of them were going on while we were there, but sounded fun nonetheless. The staff here is amazing. I felt like I was checking in to a 5 star resort. They even called to make sure the room was to our liking. These people deserve some sort of customer service award (I hope you're listening, Marriott!) The room was a perfectly standard Residence Inn accommodation. Nothing fancy but enough to be comfortable. Two things resulted in the missing star...the gym (way too small and super stuffy) and the fact that - despite being in the burbs with a giant parking lot - they charge you $10 for parking. I hate that I'm about to use this word but this place is "Swanky"!!! I'm out on a business trip for 11 nights and I chose this hotel so that I would be in the middle of Long Island and I would have a full kitchen. This hotel is WAY nicer than I expected. This Residence Inn is located right off the highway but there isn't any annoying highway noise so you can open your windows if you want fresh air and not be disturbed. It is in a business park/plaza with a Chili's, a Wendy's, a Steakhouse, and a Movie Theater. Location wise it really can't be beat. When I checked in the front desk workers were very friendly and quick, which is a plus after being in the car for 5 hours. I got my room keys, unloaded my car, and was watching the Patriots beat the Jets (with Cassel as QB) within 10 min. My room smells delightful and to my surprise there is a gas fireplace in here! The bathroom and the kitchen are super clean and the bed has three different types of pillows. I'm even impressed with their wall art here! Usually the inside of a hotel room is ridiculously tacky but this stuff isn't bad at all. The rest of the hotel is equally impressive. There is an indoor pool and a gym that is open 24 hours a day. Even the parking lot is nice. it is well lit and there are quite a few cameras out there for additional security. Not that the hotel is in an unsavory area but it is always nice when a hotel can at least keep an eye on your car for you. Overall I'm pretty amped for the rest of my stay here at the Residence Inn in Holtsville. If you are looking for a place to stay almost in the middle of Long Island you should most definitely check out this place. The hotel is newly renovated as I'm looking at others review and pic... if that hotel looked like any pic you may see in any review; couches,bathroom,kitchens,carpets all updated/new including the bfst area/lobby. No whirlpool.. only pool/indoors This place is nice and quiet/w a few nice restaurants,but try and avoid (Cross the boarder) Mexican restaurants is disgusting and for $35 I got a kid size meal .The couches are filthy and disgusting. I've stayed at this hotel four times and always had a great experience. The rooms are clean and comfortable, always well stocked with shampoo, conditioner, towels, blankets, etc and whatever I have needed that wasn't in the room, they have gotten for me! It's also always been very quiet. This past stay my husband and daughter were arriving really late after a super long drive doubled by bad traffic. I called the hotel to ask if there was any way they could have the sofa bed made up and ready to go for them, knowing not only were they getting in late but had to get up at the crack of dawn too, and they were glad to help us out. The staff is very helpful and friendly which is appreciated. It's in a location convenient to restaurants. Parking is easy. I'll be back next spring!!! read more

I was going to leave three stars, but the description for 3 stars was A Ok, which this was not. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very nice employee who was only too eager to help me with my luggage. I was very pleased. Upon arrival in the room, I felt it was a small layout for the type of extended stay hotel that this is. There is not a lot of space to be more than about 5 feel from the bed. The kitchen supplies needed to be washed and certainly need attention as they were old and handles were falling off. I noted that the base of three of the glasses in the room were broken enough that it could cause and injury. The housekeeping service is wildly inconsistent. The first day, it was fine. Nothing spectacular, but fine. On the second day, it was phenomenal, small details attended to. The room was thoroughly cleaned. As a thank you for the superior work, I tipped the next morning $20 with a note thanking them for the work. Unfortunately the third day service was back to fine. Sadly today I come back to the room, and housekeeping did not even come to the room today. The included breakfast got old quickly. Eggs, sausage, Canadian Bacon, and various cold items. If you are here for a week of work, you sometimes want some variety. There was none here. They missed the mark on most of the small things, but when you are away from your family on business for a longer period of time, it is the small things that start to count. The television worked some of the time, other times it would not stop digitally pixelating (kind of like Satellite TV before a bad storm). The freezer in the hotel connivence store is broken, and has been all week, obviously no urgency to get it fixed. Thermostats really do not control the temp in your room. Set it to what you want, it does not matter the room will be at whatever temp that the hotel wants it to be. Overall clean hotel, but when looking for extended stay amenities to make that long trip easier, they seem to have missed the mark. Hopefully this hotel is scheduled for a refurbishment soon. read more

We stayed in a suite and we had access to a kitchen which has a stove, fridge, and dishwasher along with ample counter space and cabinets. The room was clean and the hotel smells nice. After looking at some of the reviews, I hate to leave this less than stellar one. As said before the staff here is very nice. How ever the breakfast has been not so much. I'm on an extended business stay. It might be good for a couple of days, but after that it gets old quick. Two types of sausage and eggs every day. I asked the front desk about biscuits and gravy, potatoes, and other items. I've been on other stays at the exact same hotels in three locations and this is the first one that has not had the full rotation. I also have not seen a vacuum or any evidence of a vacuum since I've been here. There were cookie crumb from the person before me in front of the TV. I have also seen dog turds in the hall ways. However those were cleaned up by the next morning. read more

Stayed here for one of our many Long Island wedding trips. After countless hotel rooms that don't leave any walking room around the king size bed, it was a nice surprise to have a little 1 bed apt for the weekend. The staff was very friendly and helpful in finding us food when we arrived starving after getting stuck in NY traffic. Warm towels were brought to the room when we found ours missing, and when the cleaning service strangely threw out our water bottles the front desk replaced. The breakfast was good, and they had coffee and fresh cookies in the afternoons. Everyone from the wedding was staying there, so there was a shuttle to and from the reception. When a few people missed it the hotel brought them over in their own van. read more

Their in the business of hospitality, and this Marriott is all about being hospitable to each and every person who walks in their door. The location of this Residence Inn can't be beat. It's perfectly located between the Long Island Expressway and Sunrise Highway, two of the most commonly used roads on Long Island. Not to mention, you have great restaurants and fast food chains a hop, skip, and a jump away from the front door of the hotel! And if you think it doesn't get better, it does. Island 16 movie theater is there at your disposal. What more could you want when you're facing an awkward lull in your workday or your visit to Long Island? Inside the Residence Inn, you have everything you could want. The staff is attentive, pleasant, and passionate about what they do. Considering they're the first people you speak to as you walk in the door, those qualities are absolutely imperative. When you make it to your room, you find it perfect condition and begging you to crash on the bed and call it a night. When people travel for work or for pleasure, they hope to some higher power that the hotel at which they stay makes them feel at home. This Residence Inn does just that. read more

I had mixed feelings about this review, but overall I feel the positives outweigh the negatives and I would stay here again. On the plus side: - Superb staff - very friendly and helpful - Excellent location - tucked away in a pretty quiet little corner backing to trees, but seems to be convenient to everything - Rooms have a nice layout and were clean - Good variety of breakfast foods in the morning Now for the negatives: - Upkeep could be better. Nothing was a big deal, but it is the little details that really make a stay. The lobby computer didn't seem to be working, the latch plate on the bedroom door was missing, desk wobbled...just little things. - The coffee/tea station is only available during breakfast and if they have an evening social. This is one of those picky little things, but it seems kind of silly to not have it available all day like most Residence Inns. - I had some intermittent issues with the internet. I never asked the front desk for help because it wasn't consistent, but it seemed that sometimes it would only let me access unsecured webpages (which excludes all google sites). read more

We were sent to this hotel by our insurance company when we had a house fire. I was worried because we also had a cat and dog we needed to bring with us. We got a suite and it was adequate for the time we needed to stay there. The kitchen made it possible to make meals and the entire hotel was very clean. The employees were great and very helpful. Monday to Wednesday the hotel offered a free dinner which made it much easier for us instead of cooking. It was a simple dinner, but there was always an option for a green salad or pasta salad if you did not want what they are serving that night. The breakfast was just fine. It had an assortment of many things to keep you happy, so I have no idea why there are complaints about that on here. I have traveled a great deal and other hotel breakfasts are exactly what we got at this stay at well. Eggs, bacon sausage, cereal, waffles, toast, yogurt, pastries, juice , coffee etc. We are in the north and we do not have gravy and biscuits served here, as one complained in a review. They seem to have some unsanitary habits here. Our floor smelled something like old seafood and when we walked into our room we were greeted by the pungent smell of a porta-potty. We actually slept with the windows open. I looked under the table and actually found a hidden urinal cake on the floor. I've never seen this before at a hotel so I went and asked the front desk about it and they told me it was supposed to be there...to cover the smell of animal urine. It seems they allow animals in these rooms but never clean the urine out of the carpets. The front desk only offered to take the urinal cake out but did not offer us a new room or to even clean the smell of animal urine out of the carpets. If you care about sanitary conditions I would recommend staying elsewhere. read more

My family traveled to Long Island for a baseball tournament in August 2012. The small suite we had was nice, clean and roomy with a kitchen area, full fridge and other amenities. So, the hotel gets a good grade, but the service gets a big F. One day, our room was never cleaned and made up. We went to the tournament and came back early afternoon, and the room was never touched by cleaning staff. My wife went to the front desk to complain, only to find another guest complaining that her room was not made up. But, because that other person was a real squeaky wheel, the desk manager tended to her. Finally, when my wife was able to air the complaint, she took the "nice person" route and tried to make it sound like it wasn't an urgent issue, while the other guest was quite angry. So sometimes, nice people finish last. The desk clerk actually called housekeeping as my wife was leaving the lobby, and said, "the woman in room 330 (my wife) isn't that concerned but the first guest is angry, so let's get her room done first." That incensed my wife. After another hour and half, the room still had not been made up. My wife went down again, and the desk manager then told her that they were short staffed today, and the cleaning crew has left for the day. The desk then had sheets delivered to the room, so my wife could make the bed herself. Frankly, if I was the manager, and my staff was gone for the day, I would have walked up to the guest's room myself and made up the room. That is disgraceful customer service, and the experience soured what we had hoped would be a good experience at the Residence Inn. read more

Really great service. Stayed here for Columbus Day weekend with my son who had a nearby baseball tournament. They were great with reservation flexibility issues - always an issue with a tournament. Nice room and the pull out couch wasn't too bad considering. I found breakfast to be so-so, but I have never liked hotel buffets so don't read too much into that. Pool was nice but small - one baseball team took up the whole thing! Given the price - very happy with this hotel. read more

I have stayed here numerous times and can't say enough good things. The front desk staff, the manager Fred, housekeeping, even the maintenance staff is so friendly and go above and beyond to make sure that you have a pleasant stay. The rooms that I have stayed in have always been clean, fully stocked, and the breakfast buffet is better than any other buffet I've had at a hotel. They also have dinner on certain week nights. During my most recent stay, my son fell asleep in our room and I needed a water bottle. I called the front desk and the receptionist Marissa sent one up with no problem. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay here time and time again. read more

Checked in as a rewards member w/extra towels on profile; no extra-but marriott tends to do this across the board. I get 1-bedroom ste & room looks clean, but top of fridge had a dusty film, housekeeping was apologetic. Turned on the heat & blower fan spit out a giant dustball that slowly floated to the floor! I was amazed! I asked for daily washcloths & they were delivered, along w/other items that housekeeping failed to place in the room. This was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in. There was feces on the toilet and shower curtain, took pics to prove. There were holes in the blankets and the linens were stained. They never cleaned the room after complaining, the feces were still on the toilet seat! Again, we have pics to prove! The front desk guy, Tom, was uneducated and very rude. The manager Lauren is as rude as her front desk staff. She is as inadequate of a manager as her housekeepers are at housekeeping. Terrible place to stay , and I will never recommend anyone to go there afraid that they could catch something from the filth! Disgusting! What an amazing room for an amazing price. The staff was amazing they took great care of me and my girlfriend. Even at 2 in the morning when I needed towels they sent them up. They helped me with everything I was having issues with adjusting, TV and air-conditioning they adjusted everything and had it working in seconds.when I woke up late and called the front desk they were obliged to give me an extra half an hour to shower and pack my belongings. They didn't come knock or call to ask be to check out. Me and my fiancé stayed there and had a great experience. It's very close to some of the best beaches on Long Island and located close to some amazing restaurants of all cuisines. Anytime that in in the area I would rebooking to stay here! Wow! The staff was awesome, let me borrow the tape dispenser for half a day, was always looking for ways to help! The location is awesome, in the same parking lot as the movie theater (Island 16). I was passing through Long Island for 1 night and I set up the reservation through Expedia one hour before and was in my room not soon after .
