After experiencing transmission problems on 2 of our vehicles (due to the fact that the originating pick-up locations failed to do the appropriate inspections), Ron listened to what we'd experienced and patiently went to bat for us when Budget came back with impossible charges. Move-out day in Ames is crazy. Everyone rents trucks and some people even turn them in late. U-Haul and other competitors break down under the pressure and drop reservations, leaving people up a creek. The Budget Truck Rental in Ames not only kept all the reservations, but also saved people who were dropped by other companies. By far the best truck rental company in town. The guy working the desk was extremely knowledgeable and efficient. His job gets really tough on move-out day, but he works really hard to make sure everyone with a reservation gets a truck He even adjusts the mirrors for you when you hop in for the first time, a brilliant safety precaution that his competitors don't do. read more

I reserved a truck a couple weeks in advance to move out of my apartment, and received a call the Wednesday before my Saturday move-out (after finals week, so many people were moving), telling me that no trucks were available for that weekend. I called back and asked what the point of a truck reservation was if the truck was not reserved, and apparently it is the rate that is reserved. I know that is in their fine print, but I still don't understand how you are supposed to rely on them to have anything available. Good thing Uhaul exists, or I would have been out of luck. read more
