Went in to have them put on a tailpipe on my muffler. During their inspection they noticed a manifold leak and didn't try to upsell me, just let me know about it, said I should look into it and that it's normal, then gave me a quote and fixed my truck. Didn't want to tell me price- charged me 70 bucks for an "inspection fee" wanted to charge me 500 just for welding in a small cut out. Ive done this exact thing with them about a year ago and they charged me 70 bucks but now they are "under new management" charged me 70 dollars just to get my car back and they did nothing. read more

If you were smart never use this place they ripped me off for $2,200 bucks then they tell me all we don't know what the problem is with my front suspension then I take it to another shop they tell me what's wrong with it they fixed the part then it cost me $400 to get new tires because Bud's Muffler screwed up do never use this shop if you were smart they will rip you off charge you three times the amount of the price and when you try to speak to the owner they make excuses and lie to you so I follow the lawsuit against them to shut their doors if you're smart you would stay very far away from the sorry people they will rip you off or lie straight to your face and tell you all that part doesn't need to be changed and you come back the next day oh that part doesn't need to be change of cost you more money don't use them if you're smart and when you call back and try to speak to the owner of the shop they make excuses and lie to you so if you were smart stay away from these people they are no good they will take your money and not fix the problem that you had when you first came in read more

When I had my catalytic converter stolen I had to have it replaced to drive the car. The guys at Buds muffler worked with the insurance company directly and had the correct catalyst put in in not time. They also reviewed the details of the fix and even painted my catalyst and imprinted my vehicle VIN on it just in case. I highly recommend them. read more

Superb, fast, professional service. If you need exhaust system work, whether factory or custom, I'd check with Bud's first, to save time. When my catalytic converter was recently stolen, Bud's was the ONLY shop that was able to repair my vehicle, out of six repair shops given by my insurance company. Three took my info but never called back. One said a factory converter was not available and, basically, I was on my own. Another said if I could somehow find a converter they could install it, but to expect a waiting time of at least six months to locate one. By now I was pretty worried I was going to have an un-drivable vehicle ... but when I called Bud's, I was cheerfully told I could come in the next day. Besides the converter, they installed a cage to lower the risk of future theft, and then painted and etched my VIN onto the converter (at no extra charge). The installer even came out to give a summary of the work and offered good advice on the product. While I was waiting, I noticed the desk staff managed several calls and walk-ins in a notably professional manner, with freely given advice when appropriate. They were busy but seemed to recognize that fast service is helped by courtesy. Their waiting area is pleasant and graced with a nicely done 1957 Chevy station wagon. read more

I am very satisfied with the service that I have received from Buds. I had a very bad exhaust type smell coming into the cabin of my car. I took it to the dealership four times to no avail. They couldn't figure it out and sent me on my way. I had to drive with the windows down it was so strong. So I decided to take it to Buds. It took less than 15 minutes for the tech to find the problem. He actually called me back to the mechanic bay to see what he was talking about. There was a hose that had come disconnected and would not realine to fit in the proper place anymore. So they ordered the part and hose which came the next day and fixed the problem. The total cost for labor and parts was $24.57. Another time when I was told by the Dealer that the part was not under warranty Buds made a couple of calls to the dealer and was able to help me set it up (under warranty) to have the problem fixed. Which saved me over $1800. I have recommended Buds to many friends and I recommend them to anyone reading this review. read more

BEWARE! I wish I never went to this shop at all and be patient for mikes frame and alignment, They was booked and referred me to buds muffler First of all. I called and they said walk in. $95 for all 4 alignment and they're aware with lowering kit only 3/5 inch down with stock Springs, aftermarket strut and how to do it right (rent n roll said only $70 for the front) Then when I still went by anyway Seen lazy worker cleaning toolbox and sulking around instead fixing the truck on rack. When I left and came back again, seen the guy sitting but got up quick then tried say wrong kit wrong joint. Blah blah but eventually got it worked and tried to say it's $10 dollar just to right up the bolts but texted me said the control arm bad and bad thread.. ok it's $155 just to replace it or $30 to take the car out if I fix it but I end up doing it within 15-20 mins myself with my own part and the original control arm was fine and I showed them the condition of control arm and even it's fictionally thread and bolt Nothing they can do about it and after checking with them. It's $95 to just do front?!!!!! No rear No warranty or anything at all The alignment result showed the worse number from previous and says it max out. They can't read the numbers between Left the shop. The steering wheel isn't even straight as before and I am bringing it to other shop to check and verify I wouldn't even leave 1 star here at all. I've been to Bud's twice since moving here about a year ago after a bad experience with a different mechanic, and I will now never take my truck anywhere else. The first time I went in my truck was driving weird, super squeaky brakes - I was convinced it was going to be thousands of dollars to fix and they could've very easily made something up since I was so concerned. Jeffrey called me to explain what was actually going on and it ended up being a very easy, inexpensive fix. Both times I've been, Jeffrey and every tech I've spoken to have taken the time to explain what's happening in a way I can understand. They are NEVER condescending (not my experience with most mechanics) and never make me feel stupid or like I'm wasting their time with my many questions. Good people who I trust not to rip me off. I've spent thousands of dollars at Buds since the the early 90's and sent numerous people there. I've had them do full exhaust systems including headers on my performance cars and leaf spring work on my trucks. I was absolutely in shock today when I went in to have them do another job (one of many) and was quoted $327.76 more than their competitors. Usually they're within $100 but this was unbelievable. Not only were they incredibly rude to me today but he treated me like I'm clueless about cost and labor after I asked him why the cost were so extreme. Bud's Muffler is a great shop, if you don't mind taking their work somewhere else to get it fixed. The "OEM" muffler they installed blew open like a pop can with the first backfire. Repairs were done where repairs were not needed, and the reassembly of the existing parts were done incorrectly, which resulted in the previously mention backfire. When I went back I was told that they were not their issues, but they could fix them for a fee. I have heard great things about Bud's for years. Jeff (Owner) is friendly initially, but very quickly gets confrontational when the quality of the work is questioned. I won't be back. read more

I have been to Bud's Muffler several times over the years mostly because of location to my house. Jeff and his dad are very nice people but I have had mixed results. If you want muffler work done I would feel pretty safe going here but anything beyond that you are taking a chance. Here is my experiences: Muffler replacement- successful Replace Water pump- successful Brought jeep in and told them I needed a steering shaft. They told me I needed a ball joint. After ball joint replacement they called me because car was ready. Jeep drove the same and I still needed a steering shaft. They replaced the steering shaft for free and I paid for the more expensive ball joint, which I didn't need. Jeep clutch replacement. $1000 and they call me to tell me the jeep is ready. There is No pressure in the clutch but mechanic tells me it feels fine to him. His garage foreman (the one who messed up the steering shaft years earlier) feels there is no pressure but has no solution. I need my car so for $1000 I get to bleed my own clutch. The low score is due to the fact that these mechanics will test drive your vehicle after a repair and somehow "Miss" the obvious problems still there. Went to Bud's last week - had to stand at counter and wait for the owner to come out of the office - when he made it to the counter he really didn't seem to care I was in his shop - didn't seem like mufflers were his primary focus. He called a tech to "handle this guy". The tech was friendly and knowledgeable - he tried to get the owners attention to let him know what we decided but that was impossible as he was chatting with someone at the counter. Agreed with the tech to come back at 8:00AM to get the work done. Next day a little before 8 I show up and I'm informed by the counter clerk they don't do business that way and it's first come first served starting at 7:30 and that I'm at least #2 and my job will be at least noon and most likely after lunch to complete. Not what I planned for. Huh? This is an 8 bay shop and they can't do more than one at a time? I might have waited but the shop attitude left me doubtful of anything they were telling me. I stopped the job order and said my aloha. Counter clerk seemed unconcerned a job was walking out the door. I googled exhaust repair and ended up at Discount Exhaust Works. Job was finished by noon, a little bit better price and as they quoted, friendly folks, a lot better experience than Buds! read more

I do not suggest going to Bud's Muffler. I was a frequent customer for a few years, coming in for regular oil changes every 3 months. They always seemed to find something else that made a simple oil change cost me a couple hundred dollars. However, I thought they were honest mechanics and since my car was older, I thought it was better to be safe than sorry. As time went on their work seemed to go down in quality. At one point my mother took her car in for an oil change and THEY NEGLECTED TO PUT OIL IN THE CAR. When I ended up selling my car to a mechanic and giving him all of the records I had kept, he told me I had been over charged for multiple jobs and many probably weren't necessary. I ended up taking my new car in for an inspection where they told me I needed a new water pump which would cost a little over $560 to replace. Before giving me this estimate, the owner had the audacity to say "it isn't that bad, well, it wouldn't be that bad for ME, but I don't know about YOU!" I'm sorry but $560 IS a lot of money to most people and as an owner there shouldn't be any kind of assumptions about the cliental. I ended up getting a second opinion. I didn't need a water pump. In fact it looked like it had already been replaced before I bought the car and it was not leaking in the areas that would indicate that it needed to be replaced. Given I have been and am on a limited income as a student, when I think about how much money I gave Bud's, it makes me angry. Especially because I don't know how many times I was subjected to personal comments such as, "If you were my daughter I would get this replaced." As a woman who doesn't have a father to pay for all of her expenses, I found it offensive. And I know from waiting multiple times for HOURS while they did a "simple" repair, I'm not the only single female who was subjected to these personal comments that were condescending. These men aren't vicious, but they definitely don't have a filter. Save your money and go some place else. read more

went to buds muffler today and got a quote on putting some exhaust tips on after the staff looked around for about 5 to 10 minutes finding the right tips for me I was quoted a price with labor the welder that put on the tips did a exceptional job when it came time to pay the 170 it went to 381 and change for no apparent reason I stood there the whole time while they did the job, total time elapsed 45 minutes they ended up charging me four times the amount for the exhaust tips when I confronted him about it all he said was OH the owner said what's the problem the counter clerk explain to him what was going on and the owner was very nonchalant, he said okay what would you like us to do now. I would never ever go there again be very wary of this company when they quote you something out the door in regards to a price and it doubles by the time it's time to pay in 45 minutes big giant problem they didn't even seem to care at all. They ran my credit card I will be disputing the charges of course on the way out the welder explain to me that he was leaving very soon and that this company does this all the time I explained to him I wish I can give him a tip for the exceptional job he did but at this time I was just ripped off. Bud's Muffler has saved me a LOT of money on several occasions. Just today I took my Eurovan to them and they saved me over $1900.00. Here is what happened: My check engine light came on & there were 3 codes, one was for the catalytic converter. Bob Penkhus VW Dealership told me it was unsafe to drive and it had to be fixed immediately & there was only 1 part in Canada, which they would ship here for ONLY $1250.00 plus $650.00 install. What a deal, right? Plus they wanted me to spend another $300.00 to replace parts that would clear the other codes. I called Jeff (the owner) who I know because I've been taking my cars to them for close to 15 years. He said, "bring it in, we might even be able to fix the catalytic converter without replacing it and if it needs to be replaced, we'll bolt on an after-market part for a small fraction of the cost" of what Bob Penkhus was going to charge me. Well, it worked, the check engine light has not come on & I think this fixed the other coeds that came up. I spent $100 for some kind of fuel system clean & flush and now my car drives noticeably better. On another occasion, a shop told me I needed a whole new muffler on my Westphalia but the guys at Buds just welded one piece in, which held for years and saved me lots of money. I love the guys there! I have also always trusted John, who has been there 20 years and today I met Jeff's son Jeffrey. When I first walked in, I actually witnessed him referring someone to a shop that was better suited to meet their particular needs. Gee, that would have been the right thing for Bob Penkhus to do. Went in to have some work done to my exhaust. What appeared to be a twelve year old working in the shop damaged a part on my engine that I personally replaced less than six months ago. The child try to blame my engine light on the damaged part, and the guy behind the counter was trying to sell me a replacement for 176 dollars. When I insisted that the damaged part was caused by the employee, the owner offered to replace it for free, but insulted me numerous times while I waited on the fix. Basically the owner acted like the part was damaged before hand and I was trying to pull one over on them. I saw in a previous review that this place has years of experience, but that is hard to believe when they hire children that don't know how to use proper tools. I would only bring my vehicle to this shop if you don't mind children working on your car and you like taking it back in the future because they break other parts and lie about it. read more
