We came here twice on a weekend after a family wedding and were actually surprised at the food here! The party we were with preferred being outside, so I can't comment on the ambiance that much. However, the food was really good. For the evening after wedding party, we shared the Grouper Fingers and the Southwestern Egg Rolls. The grouper was moist and flaky while not being greasy. The chicken in the egg rolls was tender and juicy with just the right amount of other ingredients to provide a flavor punch. The real surprise was the Sunday Brunch. The Avocado Breakfast Panini was cooked to order with fresh avocado and crispy bacon. The Andy's Special featured nice eggs, delicious sausage, fried potatoes that weren't greasy, and a biscuit that was tender and flaky. Brunch at a sports bar may seem out of place, but this was seriously the best breakfast we've had in a while. read more

My guess is this place has been around forever, it's a bit worn inside and all the years of allowing smoking inside certainly haven't done Bud's any favors. The smoking has finally been halted, and that's a good thing. Plenty of TV's as one expects in a good sports bar, service is good, with a very friendly staff. Love Bud's. It's always been friendly and fun with great food. We were there to watch the Vols football game and there were plenty of TVs for our game and many others. I remember the old building and this was my first time here. It's certainly bigger and nicer with plenty of inside and outside seating. We ordered a Ruben, pickle chips, and some buffalo wings and everything was super delicious and arrived quickly. Our drinks were Myers rum and cokes then cold beers and they were just as tasty as the food. I can say we never had to wait on anything and that's exactly what I remembered about Buds before I moved from Chattanooga in 2004. Welcoming, fun, consistent. read more

We just left from eating a wonderful meal there. My complaint is not with our meal. Our server acted a little off the entire time. She asked if we were paying with a card or cash. When we replied cash she hesitated. My husband handed her a $50 dollar bill. When she brought back our change she gave him two fives & all ones. He started to count the change and she began to ask us questions... it sidetracked him from counting the change. She shorted us $10.00. Very sad because we definitely would have came back. OK I am NOT a germaphobe and I don't wear a mask to protect me from the "Virus". However, it does make sense to take cleanliness seriously and as a waiter/waitress, if you are suppose to wear a mask.. then do it. I go to Bud's alot and was disappointed. Sat in the patio area and tables not very clean, waitress wore mask around her neck. The bathrooms were filthy with a paper towel role to wipe you hands on the counter in the puddles of water. Bottom line, sitting outside is nice, food is always good, beer is cheap but if you go ... take sanitizer with you.. you will need it. read more

After my experience there with Erica I couldn't rate this place lower. Apparently, anyone who gets the wrong order is automatically a Karen. Several months ago I ordered nachos and got a quesadilla, not horrible, the waitress set it down and said, I don't think this is what you wanted then didn't come back. I didn't argue and tried to make the best of it. After a while I flagged someone down and asked for queso sauce. I then left tipping just over 20%. However, months later I am confronted and called a Karen for that by one of your regulars. I am sorry that I expressed my disinterest in your food and bad service at the time. I did try the place a few more times and after repeated disappointment, bad food and neglect from the staff i decided it was not an environment I wanted to be in. This is my favorite restaurant in Chattanooga. Their baked potatoes are the best and I have a salad every time just for the ranch dressing. Normally I get a hamburger steak. This place has the atmosphere of a joint but some of the best food and people in town. read more

I ordered carry out just to try their food. I got the sampler platter because I thought it would be the best way to get a taste of what they have to offer. The platter came with 2 Buffalo wings, a few fried mushrooms, 3 cheese sticks and 3 potato skins. The potato skins were good and came with a side of sour cream. They were loaded with cheese, bacon and green onions. The wings were tasty and juicy with just the right amount of heat. The ranch dressing that came on the side was not very good for dipping though. It was a bit thinner than I like and seemed it was a bit overpowering paired with the wings. It seemed like a ranch that was best suited for a salad rather than dipping. The cheese sticks and mushrooms were a bit on the salty side. The mushrooms were especially salty and the breading was falling off in the container. Service was great and workers were following COVID protection practices. Customers, however, were not wearing masks nor were they following social distancing. I gave them 4 stars because I feel the salty food may go well with beer or other alcoholic beverages. I just prefer less salt on my food. The food was fresh and service was exceptional. read more

I never thought skimpflation would arrive at Buds Sports Bar. When all other restaurants /bars were raising prices without improving quality, Buds was at least a place you could go for a decent meal and beer. But, during a recent visit, ordering the EXACT same items as six weeks ago, I recognized Buds has embraced skimpflation. The usual 6 stuffed mushrooms is now reduced to 4, the prime rib appetizer is reduced to barely 6 small strips -- used to be 9-12, and the basket of fries was not even half full. Such a disappointment because even if Buds lacks the ambience of a nice venue, you could at least count on a fair price for the food. Not anymore -- can no longer recommend them for much of anything. read more

Great beer bar! But I was skeptical of a $12 chili dog. How on earth could they pour $12.50 worth of stuff onto a hot dog. First off this ain't no weenie. It's a half pound tube steak that demands a knife and fork to eat. It's gonna be messy even with the utensils. Fresh bun is slathered smothered and covered with a robust meaty chill so thick you could stand a fork in it. Top that with enough cheese up keep the mouse from roaring and you are looking at a mountain of a meal. Good quality all beef frank stands up well to the toppings. read more

Went there about a month or so ago for lunch with a coworker--Will never be back. I have never been into a restaurant where the experience was so bad; without it being a direct correlation to the service. The service was honestly great. Very attentive staff--All of the girls were very nice. Both of us are smokers, and there's not many places you can go to smoke inside anymore. We sat in the smoking section towards the back next to the majority of the TVs. During our lunch; one of the girls walked out of the kitchen, and was followed out by a taller man which looked to be like the manager. I'm not sure if there was a disagreement between server/manager, but the man tossed what looked to be some sort of bucket at the girl. Extremely unprofessional. The whole restaurant could hear the interaction when the bucket hit the floor. She looked to be a bit disturbed, and a lot of the guests felt the same. I'm not sure if he was the manager at the time, but behavior like that in a restaurant is unacceptable. I feel bad for the girls who were running their tales off that day to be treated like that. Food was good, service was great--but we'll never be back. It's a shame because we really liked the environment. read more

Like going for the lunch plate special. Meat and two vegetables for like 7.99 or 4 veg plate for 7.00. Pretty standard fare. Meat loaf is good. Chicken dumplings are good. I always sit in the non smoking area off to the side and there is usually a pretty full room at lunch time. I also like the wings and the Reuben sandwiches. We received a TOTAL (3 platters) of 6 cold, tiny wings, 6 shriveled-up, dried out potato skins, 6 hard, cold cheese sticks, and 6 mushroom caps - each were about the size of a quarter. The to-go dip cups had not been sealed properly, so all the dips sauces were spilled across the food - there was marinara sauce on my potato skins and honey mustard on my wings. I should have taken a picture, but when I opened the to-go boxes I was in such shock - taking a pict was the last thing on my mind. Buds is a classic sports bar, 80's rock playing loud, darts and all the "bar amenities", they have a smoking section and a non smoking section. The food was wonderful, the drinks were good, the service was spotty at best. The place is a staple in Brainerd for 35 years and still going strong. The burger I had was juicy and tasty, the onion rings were good too. My wife had a chicken wrap with steak fries, which she said it was great. And let me tell you, I have been to more than my fair share of questionable establishments all over this great nation. But Bud's has that special way of ALWAYS making me sick, no matter what I order. Be it food or drink, it never stays down...or in. Even the one time I was drug in by friends and only ordered an iced water. So guess what that tells me? They either don't clean the lines, the ice bin, or both. I know that the owner (and previous owner that is still onsite everyday) is part of the good ole boy network and that may be why he gets away with far more than he should. Which includes passing health inspections, not being cited for over serving alcohol, and allowing more than the fire marshal limit of people in on the weekends. Ya'll be good, now! read more

It's a sports bar. Really you know what you're going to get. It's big. Really big. It's smoky, again it's a bar and it's legal in Tenn to smoke in a bar. They do have a non-smoking section/room and they have an outdoor patio, partially enclosed, that is smoking but you can at least breathe better. It looks like any other dive bar/sports pub. Lots of regulars there. Good drinks. All the servers are very sweet and they hustle. I've never seen it not busy in there. The food is actually decent. I've had meals there and I've had bar food (wings, pizza, etc.) The bathrooms could use a bit of updating. Funny story, I was with a group of guys watching football and apparently on the weekends there is a "bathroom attendant" in the men's room. LMAO. The ladies' restroom is no palace and so I can only imagine what the men's restroom looks like and the fact that there is an attendant in there. I asked the guys about it and they say you can't help but pay the guy. It's small and you can't get to the soap or hand towels without going through this guy.
