North of Chattanooga on Ashland Terr, felt a bit off the beaten path...., not in the hustle bustle of Downtown Chattanooga, but they got us with the name.... Doc Holiday's Bar & Grill !!! Cool name for a bar and we were just expecting a nice neighborhood bar with locals. Well, we got that .... plus a really good lunch. The Bartender was extremely busy, we didn't get here name... but what a great sense of humor. We ordered our cold drinks, then proceeded to read the menu. The place had a cool vibe to it with all the "funny" signs around. It's "The Five Star Dive Bar"... . We ordered the Cheeseburger with a side of sweet potatoes. The burger was cook perfectly to a med-rare temp and the sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.... Not a soggy fry to be found !!! First time there with a group of ladies who we apparently were supposed to have a reservation. However, when we got there, there was not a reservation because the table they had reserved for us that people had been there for hours and wouldn't leave. We ended up sitting outside, which was OK because the weather was good. Our waitress was subpar at best and unbeknownst to her was making comments about our group to somebody inside, who knew us and told us what she was saying. For a dive bar, the food is excellent. They use tallow for their cooking oil. I believe that is much healthier. I believe they have the best wings in Chattanooga. They staff is super friendly and very fast. They might even be able to read your mind knowing you are ready for another. The entertainment is great. Have one for me when you go. read more

With a heavy heart I'm writing this review. My girlfriend and I are consistent patrons of this place. We love it. However, all it took was one bad visit to change that completely. My girlfriend, our two friends, and I walked in and were seated just after 4pm today. Our server was the older blonde lady who's been there on many of the past occasions we visited. When we showed her our ID's before ordering drinks, she claimed that my girlfriend's ID was fake. She's 24 and a bartender at a local restaurant, so we insisted the ID is in fact real. She claimed she could test it in the back, so we gave it to her knowing this test would reveal it was real. She came back and told us that "it was fake and that the reader said it didn't have enough plastic". Which is absolutely absurd. She tried to back this claim by bending the ID in front of us claiming it was thinner than mine, and that "everyone in the back agreed". Which makes me wonder if they actually have a scanner. If they do, they should scan them in front of patrons from here on out? She then handed both ID's back to try bending them, as if she had a point. They both were identical in make. This felt like we were getting punkd or something, so I went up to two of the familiar faces behind the bar who have served us in the past. They both were friendly and told our waitress they have served us before and verified our ID's in the past. I was just looking to get a second opinion considering the circumstance was so crazy. To this, the lady slightly raised her voice at me to tell me that I need to quit being defensive. I told her they had served us a number of times and may recognize us as lunchish time regulars. She told me that didn't matter, and that she was going to let my girlfriend get by anyways. That if i keep being defensive, she will not serve us. She then turned to our two friends and aggressively asked what they wanted to order. At that point, we were all super uncomfortable with her being our server and decided we'd rather leave. We went down the road to another restaurant and all four of us are now enjoying alcoholic beverages with all of our very real ID's. Like I said, this sucks. We love that place. The food is good, drinks are cheap, patrons are friendly, but someone shit in that lady's cornflakes today. It's unlikely we ever go back after this. What a damn shame too. read more

Doc Holiday's has quickly become my favorite place to go for some of the greatest entertainment this area has to offer! I've only tried their Chili in the 4 visits I've been there, but it's that good. I've seen others rave about their food and highlighting their steaks! I must say the server and bartender Lindsay was great and so friendly she really went over and beyond to make sure we were all taken care of!!! The food was amazing when they found out about the birthday they sent a deep fried turtle cheese cake for the birthday girl. It was so nice of them. I use to frequent this place when I lived in Hixson and it has been "Wheelies", "Jack As" and a few other places. They have off street parking and Motorcycle (MC) parking in the front. There is a patio out back with a small bar, tables and umbrellas. Inside has a bar, high tops and regular tables but nothing fancy and typical local hangout. The front has a small porch that has 4 High tops facing the MCs and road. I was there with friends on Monday night I think. Place was pretty empty. The servers have always been OK and I like to sit out front when I can. The food is just OK and they have mixed drinks as well as long necks and draught beer (+1). I guess I can give it a reluctant 3 but it is just a place I sometimes go for a change, or to check out to see how they are, or if they have a good musician, which they use to have on weekends and may still. read more

I have to say this is the rudest place I have ever been in. We had a group meeting planned for 6:30 PM. I had a table reserved for 12 people. I arrived at 6:38 PM and the waitress told me my table had been given away because I was more than 10 minutes late. I showed her my watch and told her I was only eight minutes late and the gentleman at the table was willing to give our table up and everything was fine. I asked to speak to the manager, and he finally came to the table. I explained the situation, and that it had been resolved. He explained to me that if you were more than 10 minutes late, they would give your table away. I explain to him I was only eight minutes late and I believe in following rules. He then walked away with an attitude. We were perfectly happy, waiting on the rest of our group to show up when their waitress proceeded to come back to the table, telling me that it's a standard policy in a bar that if you're more than 10 minutes late, you lose your table I explain to her I was only eight minutes late and that I could not avoid traffic and I apologize but she still wanted to be nasty about it and loud so I told her to take the place and shove it up her ass. It was a redneck bar and and lift. I do not need someone talking down to me that has been a waitress for 15 years. I'm sorry that's probably the best she can do but me and my group will never go there again. read more

Great local bar with a nice patio and bar outside in the back. Typical bar food with always great service and friendly servers. There are a handful of friendly bikers that go to this bar but don't be intimidated by that, as they are a friendly group of mostly regulars that hang out there. It can get very busy at times, but you can always find a table, either inside or out on the patio. You will not be disappointed in the food, people or atmosphere. read more

Friendly bartenders, super fast food and drink service even during busy times. We tried the fried shrimp special and it was very good. Fresh shrimp with just the right amount of breading. I've been stopping off here off and on for a few years and a few name changes. It's pretty consistent service and food with occasional 4 star service brilliance. Has your typical bar food with some extra additions that one wouldn't except from a mostly bar type place. Friendly staff and most of the patrons are pretty friendly too.
