My husband and I are visiting SLO from San Diego. We specifically planned to come to this store to purchase gifts for family and friends, and were so disappointed to see this note only a couple hours after the store opened. As we stood outside, two female employees left the store together and explained something important came up as they walked down the street together. Not a "sure, go ahead and browse a few minutes" before heading out. Just back in an hour, have a great day! Sorely disappointed in the absolute disregard for customers who want to visit and support local businesses. I hope the owner is aware of this, as I doubt we are the only ones who have experienced this lack of customer service. read more

This review is actually for Buen Dia Market, their new Hispanic food boutique on Higuera St. (It doesn't seem to have its own website yet, even!) This market was fantastic - a well-curated selection of quality specialty foods from Spain, Latin America, and Mexico, as well as a few other items that 'fit' into their vibe of quality, natural ingredients, and brightly colored packaging. The shop was well-lit, the woman behind the counter was friendly, and my family had no trouble finding items that piqued our interest and our taste buds. Items seemed a little pricy, but they were (mostly) imports and hard to find anywhere else in town (an even in the whole region, for that matter). When you go there, I recommend the Cravers Cacao Hazelnut Spread and the cacao nib shortbread cookies. I hope the business continues to thrive because we can really benefit from a specialty shop like that. read more

a great experience with the buen día coffee shop! the people working were extremely nice and very informative when it came down to their speciality menu! they answered every question we had especially since they do not have any syrups so no vanilla lattes here. they did have a great selection with their specialty menu and the latte was amazingly done! the espresso was very good and not burnt tasting ! overall great experience. read more

Pretty cool store with a bunch of local prints/arts!! I really like how most of the prints here are eco-friendly and really unique. The prints are great souvenirs if you're visiting SLO or want to bring something back as a gift! On the left side of the building is also a cool stairway that goes straight to downtown SLO. Not a local, as are many of the people who come through San Luis Obispo, but have been coming here for years. Saw a video about Buen Dia Coffee online and was really excited to try it. My partner and I saw the name "buen dia" and just walked in, without really realizing we walked into the wrong building. When the two associates (guy, curly hair, glasses and girl with wavy brown hair) finished their gossip session and decided to acknowledge us from across the store and behind the register, after making it a point to look us up and down in a very very snobby way, we walked up confused and asked if this was the building we ordered coffee in. It didn't look like a coffee shop but there were pics on the walls of their drinks so we were confused. Apparently that was the wrong question to ask, because both the associates literally exchanged looks between eachother like we were stupid for asking the question and then, very condescendingly told us no, it's in the "other building." okay cool, that was no help at all. I wasn't sure what the attitude was for so i tried to joke and say we got confused and asked where the coffee shop was. she gave us no direction again just said "the other building. by the creamery." then they both just stared at us, in silence, while we left. literally such a uncomfortabl and unnecessarily rude interaction by what felt like two mean girls. Will literally never step foot into Buen Dia Coffee in my life or any of their affiliates because this was my only bad interaction for the entire week I stayed in town. I ate out downtown everyday and everyone at all of the restaurants and coffee shops and stores I did visit were great, except this one. So if these are the kind of people they hire I don't even feel comfortable stepping inside one. read more

Checked this place out last night, and had the weirdest encounter ever with the lady a the register. My mom who happens to have an accent asked her how much a shirt cost and before she actually even responded to the question being asked she made a random ass statement letting her know that it was a children's shirt she was inquiring about as if my mother could not see the shirt was a children's size and super small! Super rude and unnecessary! Not sure what her deal was but she definitely needs to stop ASSuming and answer the questions being asked. She made us feel very uncomfortable and we decided to take our business elsewhere. Please train your staff to not give racist vibes for no reason! read more

Loved this little art store on Broad St. Purchased a couple of whimsical, charming, eco friendly colorful prints by a young artist, Morgan Ibarra. They'll bring a little California love to one of my walls. Very reasonably priced art store in SLO. Really easy way to support local artists while giving some personality to your walls. SCAMMED! AVOID! As others have written on here (I wish I saw the reviews before buying), I purchased several items in the store and said they would send it to our address the following week. We never received the items. I called the office 2 months later and was able to get in touch with someone who apologized and said they would not only send them out quickly but add an extra item for free for our troubles. Another 2 months later we still haven't received anything and I've tried calling over 10 times without anyone answering. I thought it was an honest mistake until I see other reviews saying the same thing. read more
