First off -- a little bio intro about me! Ever since I was in grade school my mom introduced rock and mineral shows to me. Back in 1994 I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go to the best rock show in the US, which is in Tuscon, AZ. Yup! It's a pretty big deal! Also I recall going to science summer camp and studying geology was by far my favourite. (NB: If you haven't already noticed, I'm kind of a nerd lol) With that said, I LOVE rock shops especially when they throw in the spiritual/agnostic/"new age" elements such as smudging and candles. Another side note -- San Luis Obispo has always been a family vacation spot for me since I was very little. DTSLO was one of my favorites. The sad thing is I never knew this shop was here! Apparently they have been there for over 10 years. Maybe even 15 years... *mind blown* They did such an amazing job to make the shop eye catching and have a great vibe. The energy there was amazing. My body naturally walked towards this one case and of course I see rainbow moon. It is funny. I never find moonstone when I am actually looking for it. I find it when I am not on the hunt for it! That day I got a beautiful rainbow moonstone meditation bead bracelet, a smudge stick and abalone shell. I wish I could have bought more but I had to watch my spending since I already went all out on food and beverage that weekend lol! Bonus was I got to meet one of the owners -- Christine. She was so wonderful and took great care of me. Seriously, I had such awesome vibes at that shop and my chi was at peace and balanced. I will definitely be back! read more

Exquisite selection of crystals and jewelry (from high-end rings to simpler gemstone bracelets) in a beautiful retail setting in downtown SLO. Gaia's Gallery has such a vast collection of gems in different variations and prices, and an ample selection of amethyst, labradorite, jade and lesser-known or rare precious rocks like moldavite. Gaia's also has good info on the crystals they sell, and can find what you need. It's a fun place to browse and gift shop, and the staff are always friendly. read more

Visiting my daughter at Cal Poly and what popped up on Instagram was Gaia's Gallery, and the "Woman Owner" call out. Well that brought back THE most negative experience I have ever had in a store. First time in this store, in 2023 was great, Second time Holiday Time of 2024, HORRIBLE. Feeling this time was something was wrong. I was there with my husband and we met a Jennifer. Short period of time into our conversation she started pawing my husband, leaning in, showing off her augmented upper area. Is this what it takes to sell crystals? Talking about what he should purchase for me and the reasons why---(?) to say the least. This continued on for about 10-15 minutes After walking away from her to look on our own, we noticed she was talking to another women (later to find out owner), those two spent time whispering about us and than the topic changed to them complaining about someone else. First off, do not complain about people in listening distance of other customers. Jennifer came back and started to discuss that she is a reader for the store, Jennifer Light (?), but her name is Jennifer Whitemore--Odd why two names? Not interested in a reading, was interested in crystals. Did purchase from a store in Solvang. If this is how women owned businesses operate we are in trouble, Do not waste your time here. read more

Came back today with a lot more time! They just received a new shipment of crystals so I had a great time exploring the shop! I've gone to a couple of similar stores in the area and this one is by far my favorite. They have clusters, points, spheres, jewelry, pendulums, beads, raw stones, sage, palo santo, books, cards....I think you get the picture...they have a lot of variety. I could probably spend an hour here easily just looking at everything. I added more pics of the shop here on Yelp so you can have a better idea of what's available! Wow. They packed the maximum amount of crystals you could possibly fit into one place. All kinds - all sizes - all beautiful. Jewelry, stones, points, spheres, pyramids, obelisks, raw, refined, etc. EVERYTHING. Even some art, too! In the back they have the biggest collection of tarot decks I've ever seen besides Amazon. AND they have singing bowls for great prices! Remarkable selection and you'll find what you're looking for. read more

This is not just a store, it is an experience. The moment you walk in the door you get this ethereal feeling. This may be due to the energy of the crystals in the room, but I find that it is equally, if not more, due to the store owner, Christine. She is just wonderful. I immediately feel happy and calm in her presence and I always leave the store in awe, feeling completely consumed in the best way. This is a great place to shop and visit, but if you get a chance to do a reading, or have a one on one conversation with Christine, it will likely leave a mark on you forever. read more

The store looks like a nice place, unfortunately neither the cashier or the owner I'm presuming had the ability to wear a mask. They have several signs at the door stating that masks are mandatory and that it is not a big deal to wear one. "Keep calm and mask on." And yet no one will wear one, even though the store was almost crowded with patrons... I guess this store is a perfect example of "Do as I say, not as I do." read more

Okay so let me just start off by saying that this was one of the BEST experiences I have had in a crystal shop in a while. As soon as I walk in I was greeted by both the lady at the counter and I believe the owner who was in the back. This place has so much to see. I'm not from the area so I went in hoping what I saw on yelp was accurate and let me say they did not disappoint. They have beautiful high end jewelry and even some cheaper stuff for kiddos. I ended up getting a couple bracelets and some crystals to wire wrap for my business. I will definitely be coming back next time I visit. I've lived in SLO 4 years now, and I'm ashamed to say that my visit today was my first. I absolutely loved the store and will be giving it more of my business. The owner (at least, I think he was the owner) cleaned my silver jewelry while I browsed (it was really tarnished, and I wasn't sure of the proper method to bring it back to life). I bought a beautifully-cut crystal and some other stones. The prices were fair and had a good range, so that even those with a limited budget could still buy something special. The store adheres to COVID protocols, which made my shopping experience feel safe. I highly recommend. read more

This is my favorite store ever! I have been to a lot of crystal shops, and Unique Selections takes the cake by far! They have an endless selection of gems, stones, jewelry, and so much more! I always find something new every time I visit the store and I legitimately spend hours looking around at everything. The staff are kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. Whenever you purchase a stone, they provide you with a little description of it for you to take home that explains the properties of each crystal. We were visiting in the area and decided to take a trip to see this shop. Looked for parking for 20 minutes before we finally found a spot. Upon walking in we were not greeted, the ladies behind the counter would not even look up to acknowledge us. As soon as you walk in you notice this huge over priced jar of dyed stones and fake citrine towers labeled as real citrine. Everything in there is way over priced. I noticed quite a few mislabeled stones as well. Do not shop here! This is absolutely outrageous to sell stones that far over fair market value. I do understand a higher priced rent, but this was absolutely mouth dropping, and not in a good way. read more

My 4-year-old daughter is really into "gems". Everywhere she goes, she looks for treasures/rocks/beads so whenever we see a store like Unique Selections, we allow her to browse and see if a stone catches her eye--it becomes something we research together. Our own treasure hunt for knowledge, if you will. We oftentimes take pictures but this time, she was given money from her Grandfather for her soccer goals and she used $3 of it to buy a stone that caught her eye. After paying for her stone, she was also given a little slip of paper to tell her all about it. It was a great added touch that we very much appreciated. My little one has been holding onto her slip of paper like it's gold. We'll be sure to visit again if we're ever in the area. read more

My sister took me here for the first time today. She's bought several things here in the past years and wanted to show me around. As we entered a white woman with dreads(which yikes but whatever not the point of this review) greeted us and everything was normal. However when we were looking at the selection in the back I could just feel her eyes on us. My sister had her eyes on one singular gem in the back those in the big tub for like 10$ she keeps it in her hand and then she goes to their other side of the store because she sees a Mary Magdalene deck which she's been in search of. She's in the middle of telling me more about the deck when that same lady interrupts us and pops herself uncomfortably to us and emphasizes how we need to put the gem in a tray. Again it was one singular gem and she could see we were holding it. I get this may be a way to curb stealing but if anyone wanted to steal anything it would be incredibly easy tray or not. Her energy was just so off putting and we felt like it was only directed to us. We put the one singular gem back and we're ordering that deck from another store. If the owners see this maybe just invest in some more security cameras if you're that worried about people stealing 10$ gems but having people like that as an employee definitely made me never want to go back there. This store is supposed to be all about good vibes and energy however that's the opposite of how I felt leaving this store. read more

Shop is very nice for what it is, but it shouldn't come up in the search for local bead shops. They do not carry beads at all, although the photographs on YELP suggest they do. It is an upscale shop with beautiful objects crafted from natural crystals and stone. No beads. read more

Fun store to look around in with a good variety of stones, rocks, gems, and jewelry. The workers were super nice and helpful. My niece was interested in buying a few items and the woman working there took the time to explain about all the different types of rocks and Earth-y stuff there. I can't say enough good things about this shop and the owners. Visiting from out of town for a funeral, came in and was enveloped in positive, loving and hospitable energy. I stumbled upon this gift shop during a visit to SLO and found that they make custom length chains and necklaces, I had been attempting to replace a broken leather necklace, and the owner Vince was able to give me exactly what I needed at a very reasonable price. The store also carries a unique selection of crystals, rocks, jewelry and beads and is really a nice specialty shop with friendly owners and great personnel. We're out of owners but have stopped in twice and are impressed every time. Christine and Vince are fantastic, and everyone else we've encountered there has been very sweet and helpful (and patient I might add, as we've perused the offerings). One thing I like, aside from how clean and organized the store is, is the interesting selections of fossils and unique items like fossilized dinosaur poop.. how cool is that?! For a kid, that's a pretty neat gift. During our last trip in Christine and Vince spent a lot of time helping us find the right stones- again, they were so patient and kind. Christine has a special gift- she intuitively honed right in on my energy and recommended a few stones based on what she was picking up and it turned out to be completely on point with what I'm currently going through in life and how I'm feeling; I hadn't even told her anything of what was going on. She chose beautiful stones and I left feeling uplifted and really special, as did all of my little group. They made us feel so warm and conversation with them was lovely. Had the best customer service I've received in a very long time. Christina the owner is quite possibly the nicest most down to earth person I have met. Went in with some out of town friends and we all made custom bracelets, was in the store for almost an hour and a half she was helping us and informing us on everything about the stones and chakras and what not while sharing stories with each other. I love this place, I easily spent an hour in store that last time I went. I love the vibe the store has and the shop keeper was extremely helpful and answered any questions I had. The gems and beads are great quality and each one is so unique and beautiful.
