So, how do I describe this establishment? Cafeteria style for sure. Different varieties of rice and meat dishes. I was introduced to their spaghetti. Really saucy soft spaghetti noodles, with a small tang from green olives. Unique but interestingly delicious. And affordable. You need to spend $5 to use your debit/credit card. This is why I purchased the cake.. flavor wise, it's good, however the texture is off putting. Too soggy for my liking. If you are on Grand Ave and have a craving for Spanish food, I've got the place for you. Buen Gusto! It is a small shop with about 4 tables for eating in, I always take it to go. The interior isnt the most up to date, but the food more than makes up for it. There are two choices of rice, you can get beans, and about 12 different options for protein. My favorite is the pernil, but Ive had chicken, tripe, and beef. The empanadas are great as well. The small is perfect for lunch and the medium is good for 2 people for dinner. They also offer some homemade and prepackaged desserts. There is also a small selection of authentic beverages. This is one of my favorite places for Spanish food, definitely give it a shot. I am a regular here and I will continue to be because the staff here are awesome, always a smile on their faces, happy to serve you and fast at it as well, even when they are busy. They have fresh food that you can smell before you walk in into the restaurant, different variety at different times a day. They have many Spanish drinks, juices and natural juices like parcha [passion fruit]. I have never try their frituras since everything else keeps me distracted from ordering them lol. Tried this place out today with some family. It was okay... Can't give them more than 3 stars, unfortunately. The interior is in desperate need of an upgrade, first off. It was uncomfortably HOT in there, it felt like there were 20 ovens all cooking at once, with no ventilation. And the space is extremely cramped -- if I was not with a few family members, I would've just gotten takeout. I urge anyone who is planning on going here to just get takeout, unless you're going in alone or with one other person (and for some reason would rather deal with the blazing heat than getting your stuff to-go). Onto the food: I got my arroz con gandules and pernil, and a beef and cheese empanadilla. The empanadilla was hands-down the best part of my meal. It was definitely cooked/fried to perfection. And at $1.50 each (and they're huge), I'd be willing to come back for a few of those. As for the rice and pernil, they were on the dryer side... Not the best I've had. I added some hot sauce though, so that helped. All in all, if I do go back, it will only be once in a blue moon. The area that surrounds the place is not great, the parking can be difficult to find, and I wasn't necessarily impressed with the food (except for the empanadillas). It might've been an off or especially busy day for them though, so I would be willing to give their main dishes another shot. read more

Cafeteria style food and very authentic, there are tables but its more of a take-out place. They have the prepared foods in front of you and you select what you want. I have only had the chicken dishes - the stew is great and the baked/roasted is great also. They all come with choice of rice and beans. I get the yellow-rice with lentils and the red beans - I can just eat this without the meat. I get the medium container and can easily get 2 meals. The empanadas are also great - I have had the beef and chicken ones. One challenge is at times, they may not have an English speaking person behind the counter - However, how hard is it really to point at what you want and nod your head. I get at least 2 meals from here weekly. They serve great food at very cheap prices. read more

My sons and I wanted to try something different.....and were very pleased with our choice! The food is laid out in a case for you to see (which was helpful because we weren't familiar with these dishes). One had the beef stew over the rice/beans and loved it. My other son and I had fried pork chops (which they made fresh for us) - great flavor and very moist!. I also took home an order of the stew (based on my son's opinion) and just had it for lunch - excellent! good sized portions and the prices were well worth it! read more
