Had a great experience at MIA! The décor is super cute and definitely very Instagrammable perfect spot for photos and a fun night out. I came here with coworkers to celebrate a farewell for someone moving out of state, and it also happened to be around my birthday. My coworker had the servers come out and sing happy birthday, and I loved the Latin flair they added it made the moment feel really special and lively. The overall vibe, energy, and experience were really enjoyable, and it's definitely a place I'd return to. Exactly the new restaurant Middletown needs! The happy hour is A-MAZING. The prices really can't be beat for the quality of the food and drinks, as well as the atmosphere. They also use gorgeous dish ware that feels luxurious. Certain food and drink items are listed for $8 each on the happy hour menu, and we got two margaritas, empanadas, shrimp tacos and a burrata salad, plus we threw in a side of tostones, and everything was delicious. It was less than $30 per person including tip! Do not snooze on this!!! We sat at one of the swing tables, and while the novelty of swinging while eating was quite fun, it was a little tricky to get close enough to the table to eat comfortably. But it's worth trying at least once! They did a great job decorating for the holidays, and the server was super kind. I loved the whole experience and will most certainly return. read more

I just had brunch here with a friend. We had 12:00pm reservations and were promptly seated. There were only a couple of tables seated, so a reservation was maybe not necessary. I ordered the passion fruit mimosa and she had a mango one. For our meals, we had the avocado toast and chicken and waffles. My toast was delicious. Hers was, as well. The portions were perfect; filling, but not overfilling. Our server, Omar, was great. The ambiance is very nice; very tropical/green and relaxing. I've had this one saved for a long time and seeing it in person - so beautiful! I made a reservation for 12:30pm for brunch. When we got there, we were greeted by the host and seated on the swinging chairs and I immediately wanted another table. Don't get me wrong, the swinging chairs were a nice touch to the already beautiful aesthetic of the place but they weren't comfortable and far from the table. When we were at the new table, the chair was cute but uncomfortable. We got the Guayaba Punch mocktail and started out with an appetizer Pork Belly Barriguita to share. It was delicious and I loved the stone plates they came in. We also had Chicken and Waffles, Super Nachos and a side of Tostones - everything was delicious. The waffles weren't hard and chicken was well seasoned. The nachos were so good, it was my favorite. Tostones were really good too, a bit salty but it was just sprinkled in salt so not too bad. Fun place. In a shopping mall next to Puerta Vallarta with free parking so that was a bonus. Great spicy Mezcal marg. Our waiter didn't speak the best English as my friend was asking him questions so another waitress helped us. They brought out the most amazing dip with the chips. Spicy avocado aioli I want to say. I would probably put in a larger vessel as it was hard to dip your chip in it without breaking in half. Started with the asparagus. Delicious. Didn't get a picture. Then I had the quinoa burrata. I guess I just didn't expect there to be a DJ and young ladies in club attire so early on a Sunday - I felt aged! The place is super cute and has all the feels for IG pictures. Reservations are a must. You can come in and wait for the bar area, it's first come first serve. The food has a Peruvian style touch. The drinks were very strong so you definitely get your monies worth. We ordered the empanada and shrimp tacos. The empanada was good and had nice sauce with it. The tacos I felt were ok. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We were seated and waited for two hours and received absolutely nothing except drinks. No food. No updates. No sense of urgency. Meanwhile, another group came in about an hour and 45 minutes after we arrived, was seated, and was served their food before we received anything. That is completely unacceptable. What made it worse was the staff's response. Instead of taking ownership of the mistake, they shifted blame onto another employee. No real apology. No accountability. No effort to correct the situation in a timely or professional manner. Just excuses. After sitting there for two hours watching other tables get served that came in after my party, anyone would be frustrated. The lack of communication and responsibility is what pushed the situation over the edge. After waiting that long with no food and no answers, I became extremely frustrated. I don't usually raise my voice in public, but the way the situation was handled pushed me to that point. I understand that delays happen. I understand that restaurants get busy. What I do not understand is how a table can be forgotten for two hours while newer guests are fully served -- and then have staff refuse to take responsibility. Management seriously needs to address their organization, communication, and customer service standards. I will not be returning. On top of that they called the police on me just to end on the same resolution that I asked for before I started yelling and fussing, so I do apologize to anyone that was there and witnessed the situation unfold. Mr Sergio I already apologize to any guest there but when the situation was calm and collected I was informed by your staff that you guys had already called the police because you thought we were skipping out on the bill and that was never the case. I get extremely frustrated when there was no need for the police. The same thing that asked for 50% off was what we ended so why call the police at your own assumption. read more

If you love The Place to Be you're gonna love Mia. Everything is extremely "Instagramable" from the decor, the seating, to the food - it's all fun and photogenic. And yet somehow it doesn't feel tacky or like it's trying too hard. Be sure to make reservations - online it said no wait but there were no tables available for the rest of the night when we arrived. The host said we could wait for the next available seats at the bar so we did that. Our bar tender was great. Super friendly! But man they were busy. Sometimes it was hard to get her attention when we were ready to order or needed another drink, etc. We arrived during happy hour and the specials were pretty good! Drinks were strong and food was good. The snacks still left us hungry so we ordered the fried rice to share and it did NOT disappoint. Overall I would rate the experience closer to a 3.5. A great new addition to Middletown, CT! The interior is very beautiful and the plating is super unique. Every course is served on stone. The food was delicious - I tried the salmon escondido, skirt steak, lobster tacos and empanadas, and a side of fried rice with my dinner. Everything was flavorful and cooked well. Where do I start?! when I arrived to the reserved birthday party for a friend I walked in expecting to be greeted by the hostess. she never acknowledged me at any point. I had to find my party and seat myself. The party I met with was already sitting there for a WHOLE HOUR before getting served just their drinks, with some individuals of that party still missing their drinks. I walked over to bar figuring it would be easier for me to get a drink rather than wait on our waiter. I stood at the bar for about 10-15minutes waiting to be acknowledged by the manager whom was working the bar. Two female strangers had to step in and help me out and get the managers attention and let him know I had been waiting for a while. He again never greeted me but eventually got me my drink. The audacity to hand me the card machine to inquire about a tip! I walked back to my party and waited another hour before we started advocating that the party next to us was receiving their food after arriving after us and we hadn't even been asked about food. The manager was disgustingly unprofessional! he continued to make invalid excuses for the poor service provided. after we decided we wanted to spend the birthday else where and inquired about the check for the drinks. he insisted we pay in FULL not at all trying to compromise due to the incredibly terrible hospitality. He then proceeded to call the police on our party lying saying we tried to skip out on the bill. When proven wrong he then banned us from their restaurant. DON'T EAT HERE!!! Ot appears nice looking but everything else is absolutely TERRIBLE! They take ZERO accountability and have no remorse for their terrible service. What a great place! We had a special Mothers/Daughters date and chose MIA's! We were cheerfully greeted, seated and the service continued to be amazing. Our server was prompt and very attentive! He even let me try some sauce before they put it on my chicken skewers. And I loved them!!! My daughter was quite happy with her chicken caesar salad. We chose this restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday and made a reservation for a party of 13 in advance. Upon arrival, we stood at the hostess stand for approximately 20 minutes without being acknowledged. A server eventually approached and asked if we had been helped; after explaining that we had not, we waited an additional 10 minutes before anyone assisted us. Despite having a confirmed reservation, the restaurant did not have adequate space to accommodate our party. This lack of preparation set the tone for what unfortunately became a very disappointing evening. After being seated, our assigned waiter promptly took our drink orders. However, another server delivered drinks that were not what anyone at the table had ordered. When our waiter attempted to clarify which drinks were intended for whom, the other server dismissively told him to "figure it out." To his credit, our waiter handled the situation professionally, returned the incorrect drinks to the bar, and ensured the correct beverages were prepared. Unfortunately, the service delays continued. We sat at the table for nearly two hours without our food order being taken. It was only after we voiced our concerns that someone came to address us. At that point, given the excessive wait and overall experience, we chose not to proceed with ordering food and requested to leave. To add further frustration, we were presented with a bill that included the original incorrect drinks that were never ordered or consumed by our party. When we requested to speak with management, the manager placed blame on our waiter and refused to remove the drinks from the bill even after being informed that the drinks had been returned to the bar. The manager maintained this position until MPD was contacted, at which point the charges were finally removed. This experience was unacceptable from start to finish. The lack of organization, accountability, and professionalism particularly at the management level turned what should have been a celebratory evening into an unnecessarily stressful situation. We hope this matter is taken seriously so that future guests are not subjected to a similar experience. read more

Food was overpriced for what it was. 2 out of 8 of us ordered the steak with mash potatoes and tostones and it was a kid size spoon of mash (mind you - this is a $38 plate) and the tostones didn't have the mixed salad on top. When we asked, the response received was "that's how it comes" which is not the case based off of the description on the menu. The food was warm - not hot. The waitress got our drink order wrong multiple times. One person ordered a margarita on the rocks and received a frozen margarita. We brought it to her attention, she said it's still a margarita. The answer should've been, let me go grab you the correct one. It was definitely disappointing! Serving sizes need to be reevaluated and service attitude needs to change. read more

We were greeted by the most pleasant gentleman. Who was also our server. He was super attentive. The food was bomb. The only critic would be the tacos were oily. The tostones, fried rice, empanadas, lobster tacos were delicious. The pricing was fair. The drinks were delicious. Like juice which- is super dangerous. The music was nicely blended. A lot of different kinds of tunes. All which had my friend and I dancing- various mixes and such. Our server was also super transparent in stating tip is automatically added to the total after $100. One of the customer from another table ask for one of the server to pack their food & instead of using a fork, she used her fingers to take the food from the plate to the box (that's a big no for me). I decided I wasn't going to tip them $25 because of waiting so long for my food & not being checked on, but instead they took the money out of my card after I left (That is stealing). Five stars- hands down! We had a girls night and decided to check MIA out bc the vibes looked fun and elegant. We made a reservation just to hold us accountable in not canceling plans, I think regardless you should make a reservation bc the place is hopping! Our waitress was great, it was as if she "spilled the beans" on the most loved dishes and she was able to provide recommendations after hearing our preferences. The food was so elegantly displayed our mouths would water and then every bite was on point and delicious. The prices were good (which is rare these days), the environment was relaxed with positive energy. I noticed this is not a restaurant to wear sweats or yoga pants to- everyone was casual dress and put together (another thing that seems rare these days). We all really enjoyed the cocktails, mocktails, apps, entrees, and dessert - we will be back for Anna's birthday on Nov, and can't wait!
