City Mission is a great thrift shop. Right now it's like Christmas Central with enough holiday decor to rival any regular retail store. Not only is this shop great for all your holiday needs, it's also a great place for quality finds. There is a good housewares section (my last visit I scored a giant ceramic serving platter...$5!) and endless bric-a-brac. The whole shop is neatly organized and they have a friendly, helpful team working. They also have a shopper card - make 5 $15 purchases and get $15 credit. Nice bonus. read more

My wife and I were in town recently to visit her mother, and as such, my mother-in-law, who has shopped at thrift stores all her life, realized she had never been here, so we stopped by recently. I have to say that this is the cleanest thrift store I have ever been to...and the people who work there are great. I mean, they really had good, quality merchandise and a nice book selection! I know it's an independent business, and I swear, I would come here all the time if I can. Good, God-fearing people, and they are so friendly and conversational! Being from the Chicago area, their prices were on-par with thrift store pricing here, except this place has really good stuff, so I was ok with the prices overall. As a sports memorabilia collector, it so happened that I was able to find old sports newspapers with NFL hall-of-famers in there from 1988, so I was happy to make that purchase! As I am in town 2-3 times a year, this will be a place I check out each visit! read more

Super sweet, friendly staff here. I dug around, found a few treasures. Prices were generally HIGH, but that seems like the new norm at most thrift stores, post-COVID. Regardless, I got some good kids items (books & clothes) & only spend $5. Can't complain about that. There were some decent items & brands. If I were solely buying for myself, the prices would be okay. $7 for a pair of basically new (no wear!) Vans slip ons. One size too small for my feet or I would have snagged them. Some stuff looks pretty shabby and I'm doubtful you'd find premium brands here but there might be an occasional Lululemon or Eileen Fisher, or similar that retails for a lot. I'd come back. I really enjoyed browsing in the kids items, even toys, games, books. And I found an old video rental from Hills! Too funny! One huge reason why I love thrifting: potential nostalgia! read more

Wandered they last week and bought a $3 blanket. So I'm back to see if they still had those 6 pk of sheets for $15 something and they did!! I'm getting those to cover my car and furniture when not home to keep dust off !! They are brand new from a Hotel. Member how they used to do it when people had a summer cabin??!! So I spent $20. Every contact with an employee was a blessing to me. I've never been in an atmosphere that was so genuinely Christian. These ladies are sincere and concerned about your needs. They are attentive, polite and just give out an aura of serenity. They are the type of ladies that I would want to spend time with bc they calm my troubled soul. How fortunate that you have these exceptional ladies employed at your location. About the store...it is WELL organized and neat...the clothes are not hanging off the hangers or on the floor. The prices are great and the money you spend there is going for a good cause. It's a win/win situation in my book. read more

If this were a Rift Shop, it would be two separate stores, in one building, at war with each other. But it's not. It's a Thrift shop. So there. This charity shop is roomy and nice and full of fantastic clothes. I found tons of really great shirts here for low prices. The prices are a bit steeper than the Amvets across the street, but it's still fantastic and you can get an entire wardrobe for next to nothing. Fantastic. Great work they are doing too, it's always good to support charities over corporations. Because this one is out in the middle of nowhere (kind of), it's got a much better selection, and is much quieter, than say, the Salvation Army in Amherst for example. read more

Christian rock or not, this place is the real deal. I was recently in Buffalo and preparing for a long night of Johnny Bootlegger-fueled carousing and rampaging in Allentown and Elmwood AND I wanted to look stupid doing it. So I came here and bought an absolutely appalling pair of red acid-washed jeans and a gross old man sweater, all for under ten bucks! Well, needless to say, the get-up was a smashing success. I quickly lost count of how many Bootleggers I had, almost got jumped by some local hoodlums, pretty sure I accidentally stabbed myself with a dart and then I blacked out in some stranger's car. I don't remember much else about that night, but I do remember that the staff here was super friendly and I had a lot of totally ridiculous clothing items to choose from. P.S. I gave this place that fifth star BECAUSE of the Christian music. Keeps away the clean, freshly-fluffed suburban hipsters and poseurs. Sounds harsh but I've been a thrift shopping reject since 8th grade and I resent having to compete with hot, skinny 20 year-old girls for army surplus coats and cracked Garfield coffee mugs. So yeah, suck on that Creed and stay the hell away from my chipped coffee mugs! read more

I was incredibly impressed with the quality of items I found at this store, as well as the price I paid for those items. I bought a good-as-new winter jacket, good-as-new purse, two handmade crocheted hats and a scarf. The grand total was less than $8. I will absolutely be back to this location for all of my thrift store shopping needs. read more

Tons of great deals! I purchased a dinnerware set, two ramekins, a vase, a picture frame, and two shirts for $17 including tax. That's right. Everything was under $20. It was amazing! There's tons more great stuff, but unfortunately I was working with limited space in my suitcase... I would definitely recommend adding this place to your thrifting. Nothing felt overpriced at all and from what I gathered, it all goes to charity. Sure, it's a Christian charity, but I'm all for supporting good work that helps others regardless of denomination... plus you get some GREAT stuff in the process. Win-win! read more

Should be renamed to city mission antique store. They price too many items a dollar or 2 under eBay listing prices. Then brag they are cheaper. I don't think they realize people rarely pay listing prices on eBay, or what a "Thrift store" is. far better deals down the street. Oh and the constant blasting of Christian music is enough to make you want to puke. read more

A large, clean, nicely merchandised thrift store with lots of clothing, a smaller selection of household goods, and a significant furniture collection. This used to be one of my go-to spots for super-bargains, but the prices have started to drift upward as demand for vintage and re-used good continues to grow. Still, there are great finds and nice prices to be had--and your purchases benefit a good local charity. That's a win in my book! read more

This is re. The Buffalo City Mission in general. They say they have high regard for volunteers. Try volunteering yourself and get thrown under the bus. The staff is not very nice and they underutilize you. They will switch you to something else if you're not doing a good enough job. Sometimes you just sit there for hours. read more

This place is great, despite the fact that people who hate me at work sent someone to follow me here. They like to follow me, but they should have sent someone who knows how to shop at a thrift store. This person I could see right away did not know, and so I understood right away that I was being followed and harassed yet again. What a lousy spy. However, I got a good deal on a new coat, designer tags still attached to the coat, so I win yet again. read more
