Came on a holiday. On a Monday midday. It was buzzing. People coming in and out. Good solid atmosphere. None of the workers talked to us until we asked them a question and then they offered us their thoughts on our outfits and was much more visible and approachable. There's a really good selection here. The men's section is pretty much two-three racks. Which was disappointing. There's a ton of quality options and even better when you come during one of their sales. Came during their pink and blue sale. 50% and 30% off of their clothes. There's boots, hats, jeans, dresses, jumpers, night gowns, slits, lingerie, jackets, jewlery and more. A lot of cute things. There's about 5 different rooms for you wander around. Fitting room is in the back of the store. There's 4 I believe. There wasn't a great range of sizes. The entrance is hidden however. You need to walk down a semi ally to get to the store. I didn't see any signs on the street. There was a small rack of clothes on the sideway which let me know that I was in the right area. Parking is on the street. Depending on the time of day, it could be easy or you'll be walking a few blocks. If you're parking on the main street, make sure you pay for parking during the week because parking enforcement are always around. read more

I found some amazing vintage fines at reasonable prices. Even their designer pieces are priced to sell. come give these clothes a new home! I have been to second chic a few times, and have even purchased a few things. I have noticed that every time I have been there the employees do not acknowledge that I am there, no hi, no welcome in, no how are you doing. It is funny because I notice them greeting other patrons throughout my time in the store. They never ask me if I need help or have any questions, kind of just give me a side eye from time to time. I remember the last time I was there that the employees are quite friendly and offer discounts for the store branch downtown. There appears to be a lot of clothes although I probably didn't see enough selection for me as the store as a typically cute smaller place. The quality is much better than going to a Goodwill and has higher end brands and clothes and styles of the older generations. I don't wear suits or dressy outfits that some women may like to buy, so it depends on what you are looking for whether you might like to shop here. read more

I've been to Second Chic a few times now. I really like how the store is set up and the people work who here. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon with a few of my friends who love vintage and consignment. The store is huge and has a lot of variety. We were greeted by the owner, whose name escapes me at the moment. She gave me wine in a cup to enjoy as I shopped, which gets this store a lot of extra points. Now, afer shopping and admiring clothes for about an hour, I realized that pretty much everything I liked was the wrong size. This store caters to people smaller than me, as I'm an XL. However, that doesn't mean I don't like the shop! I just don't fit into most of what they have. They do have accessories and shoes that I can fit into, so I will shop here again next time I'm in the Elmwood Village. I reccomend it to everyone, as they have a mens section, too! Amazing! Large store with tons of quality options and great prices. A wide range of styles and brands, including a lot of high-end clothing (I saw a Gianni Versace dress for like 40 or 50$) and a lot of vintage (There was a cute Nicole Miller dress for 200$, out of my price range but lovely). You'll definitely find some cute stuff. The black velvet shoes I purchased were 22$, and the gold and black dress I purchased (with a matching cover up) for 48$. Not bad! They also have a ton of stuff on sale for 25 and 50% off. Cute casual wear and mens clothes too. Fitting rooms were clean and spacious. I'm kind of shocked that I haven't written a review for Second Chic before - I've been living downtown for five years now and I don't usually go more than two or three months between trips to this wonderful store. That should give you an idea of how wonderful I think this business is - it's an absolute staple of Elmwood Village. To set your expectations: Second Chic stocks via consignment. The girls who work here are incredibly knowledgeable about fashion, trends, and what will sell. The store has a great mix of contemporary styles and vintage finds, familiar brands like Old Navy or Loft stocked alongside higher end designer brands. You will find outfit and style staples here, as well as statement pieces and items for special occasions. They price items competitively - perhaps prices might sometimes seem steep in the context of pre-loved items, but the girls here are very discerning about the style and quality of the items they stock, and I find that prices are generally reasonable when the brand and quality are taken into account. The shop is quite spacious, with large sections for shoes, dresses, blouses/shirts/sweaters, skirts/pants, vintage, handbags/accessories, and menswear. There's also a small selection of jewelry and sunglasses. There are several dressing rooms, and staff is attentive to starting a room for you and making sure you're finding what you're looking for. The girls who work there are friendly and cool and stylish - always willing to give you an opinion on an item. How consignment works - they accept consignment during appointments that can be booked for the 5-10 of each month. As mentioned above, they are discerning - they consider season, style, trends, current stock, etc so don't expect them to take every item that you bring, but don't take it personally either - they're just using their considerable skill and knowledge to maintain the vibe of the store. TL;DR - my favorite consignment shop, a must stop in Elmwood Village. I'd be shocked if you left without at least one item each trip that'll become a new closet favorite. read more

Just went there for a visit , got at least 5 or 6 clothes and it costed about $60!! They are all in a very good condition too ! What a bargain plus with green tag which is 50 percent off . While I've never purchased anything from Second Chic, I always stroll into the store with the intention to. I'm trying to be more aware of my clothes-buying habits, and thrifting is a way in which I hope to achieve that, so I love stopping into secondhand stores. They have a large selection with ample sizes, styles, and colors. They also have a men's section, which is smaller. I definitely find myself spending a decent amount of time in here! What I will say is that you should not come shopping here with the expectation of "cheap" clothing. It's secondhand, but it markets itself as a place to keep up on fashion trends. Because of that, you'll find very high quality clothing, with recognizable brands, so, of course, they're going to price their merchandise higher than a typical thrift store would. You can definitely find many fashion-forward items here. I just haven't had luck (yet). Will return routinely :) read more

Hidden behind Sole inside the D'Avolio building on Elmwood, this little consignment shop is full of gems, at decent prices. They've got both newish and vintage stuff, and a wide range of sizes. Their biggest strength seems to be their awesome collection of shoes and boots that can be worn this season, though I didn't buy any. The one thing I didn't love about the shop was the customer service. The clerk, who was talking to a friend, acted like we were interrupting her when we asked for prices on certain things, and was really grumpy and unprofessional in her interactions with us throughout our visit. That said, I'd still come in again. To give a sense of the range of the store: the two garments I wanted most were a gorgeous '60s-era dress that I imagine some starlet wearing while handing out martinis in her California bungalow, still with the tags on (and priced at $120), and a little gently-worn BCBG top perfect for New Year's Eve (priced at $8). Sadly, I could only take the latter, but it's nice to know I can find both there. read more

Honestly, a great store. That's cool and everything, but my friend and I were at the Elmwood location recently (I am white and she is Hispanic), and we got some sorta racist vibes from the women who were working. I was helped with my selections and all of my clothes were set aside for me while I was shopping. My friend was standing right next to me, also holding things to try on, and she was ignored. She also felt like she was being watched. While checking out, they were noticeably cool towards her while making friendly chit chat with me. Check your micro aggressions please, and remember that this is supposed to be the "city of good neighbors" and all. Just something to think about. read more

Great shop behind Taste of Siam. I highly recommend visiting both, preferably Second Chic first because trying on clothes after you eat is never a good idea. They've taken over the whole space that used to belong to several businesses and galleries, with items in several rooms, so be prepared to browse for a while. I've been here a few times over the last year and it's a place I definitely need to visit more! I'm a huge fan of thrifting and/or scoring great items for a decent price and Second Chic is just that. Plato's Closet and the Clothes Mentor look like a dumpy Salvation Army in comparison! Because of the location (Elmwood and Williamsville) the vast majority of their clothing is in great condition and from quality brands. The staff has always been nothing but attentive and helpful, and they keep the store organized and clean. I'm a bit surprised by the small amount of vintage clothing they usually have. I guess I thought that was the focus of the brand. So if you're looking for vintage clothes here, just know you'll have limited options. read more

I am a consignment store junkie. I happen to be on Elmwood Ave for business and I took the opportunity to stop in. The store itself is set back from the street next to D'Avolio. They have a nice little set up with enough room to move between racks without bumping into other shoppers. Once I started rifling through the racks I noticed that the prices were quite inflated. I understand the mark up on designer clothing, but it is a consignment shop. The only reason I can see for their prices to be out of wack compared to other stores in Kenmore, Williamsville, Clarence and OP are because you're paying to shop on Elmwood. You can definitely find the same caliber of clothing for MUCH less at other stores. read more

I'm usually not a consignment shopper - why pay more to sift through a few less undesirable things when I can do the work myself to get something cheaper at a thrift store? That said, after seeing a sidewalk sale SC was hosting during some event or another on Elmwood I was drawn in and I really enjoyed it. I've been back several times, both to check out the sale rack they have outside during good weather and to browse within. Ambiance: The shop is clean, cute and much larger than one would assume form the outside. Not at all cramped like some similar genre stores I've been in. The staff did greet me and ask if I needed help and they were willing to explain their consignment policies to me at length. Prices: I'm not a label whore by any means but I do appreciate a good product - in another words I'm totally willing to pay $15 for a $100 coat from a brand I know will last, or for something vintage, but I'm not willing to pay $15 for a $40 coat from a place where it will fall apart after I wash it twice. This shop seems to have a good amount of the former and items from stores I would put in the latter were very reasonably priced. Also a good selection of vintage and a very ecclectic mix of shoes. Sure, everything was more than a thrift store, but the point of the "curation" of consignment shops is you are getting the cream of the crop of what would be available used and I didn't see anything I went "holycrapthat'sexpensive!" to. I got an amazing Ganesh (elephant headed Hindu god) t shirt from the men's wear that looked brand new for $12, which I found a tad high for a t, but I'm a nut for Ganesh items and had never seen anything like it - it's fantastic quality and I've got tons of compliments. Most of the other items I tried on were far more reasonable, as were their accessories, plus they had a huge sale section. Selection: The really impressive thing was the mix of styles - they do have a good amount of "trendy" stuff but they also had a nice selection of funkier, interesting pieces that really appealed to me in addition to vintage and retro (80's-90's stuff). They also seemed to have a good size range, from very petite to on the larger end of non-plus, though little to no plus sized. I find I need an L-XL in most non-plus items (t&a baby...okay and some gut too) but then once I get into plus the 1x is too big, so it's tricky for me to find clothes I really like yet I still managed to get a few pieces. Overall, not a place I would come and expect to leave with a garbage bag of clothes, but definitely a nice, relaxed atmosphere to pick up some pieces I probably won't run across in AmVets or Salvo. read more

One time i scored a used ben sherman laptop bag here for forty bucks. In addition for being great for fancy clothes i bought on a ton of jorts here for the summer. I feel like this consignment shop is at a price point I wouldn't be willing to pay for second hand clothes. It'd be one thing if it was a vintage piece, speaking to that, the vintage pieces are often cute and I have seriously considered purchasing a few but for the quality issues that they have I can buy elsewhere for the same price. I do come in here every time I'm walking around on Elmwood. The selection is curated carefully and the store is styled nicely. My husband was looking for some new shirts to update his wardrobe; I suggested Second Chic because I had seen their menswear collection. Sure enough, he picked three unique items- a funky retro sweater in camel/white horizontal stripes, a blue/grey plaid button-up shirt, and an olive canvas blazer with crazy houndstooth patches and zippers. He wore the blazer to Mass Appeal and got many compliments. Vanessa curates a really interesting collection of pre-loved apparel and accessories, all of which are in excellent condition. Prices are a bit more than the thrift shop, but far less than most Elmwood boutiques, and everything they carry is stylish and unique. I enjoy shopping green with Second Chic. read more

The store is tucked back off the street, so if you are going take note. This is the only consignment shop in the area that has mens contemporary pieces. The mens selection is small, but you can tell care was taken when choosing items. Some high end items, from Burberry to G-Star. Also a range of vintage clothes. I picked up a Burberry trench for $40. The women's selection is much larger, and appears to also have a range of vintage and contemporary. pieces. A great way to save and get nice items. read more

I have been to Second Chic a few times now, and I haven't had good luck there yet. While there is a large selection that is fun to comb through, the prices range from slightly to laughably high. In many cases, I found myself thinking that I could spring for something new for only a little more money. The quality of the clothing is also questionable. Many of the tops are heavily pilled and worn-looking. They also seem to accept everything in terms of what is in style; I saw a sweater there that I owned in 2009, and I've seen many dated-looking items. Service is also iffy here. The only time I bought anything here, I waited in line for 10 minutes, even though there were only two people in front of me. I also noticed after the fact that one had a ripped hem and the other didn't ring up as being 50 percent off, even though it should have been. Sure, it's my fault for not noticing at the store, but Second Chic should be a bit more attentive to their customers and to the clothing that they accept. read more

I love beautiful expensive designer clothes and have worked in a consignment shop years back so I did my homework, called Second Chic ahead of time and asked all the questions. I thought the shop was cute and located in a good area for my style of clothes. I had spent my morning going through my clothes, folding them neatly and gently placing them in the bags. I got to the Elmwood store and left two huge bags next to each other in the back of the store and asked the girls if they needed anything else from me because I would be back to check on my clothes. I came back and was told that they would take 10 items, which was fine with me, and the girl shoved one half empty bag back at us. I asked where my other clothes were then saw another white plastic laundry basket on the counter that was filled with my clothes and shoes but the two other items at the top that weren't mine. I told the girls that that 2nd basket had my items (two very distinctive CHICO's jackets and two pairs of brand new mules) in it. The employee argued with me and was nasty and said they weren't my items and she knew that consignor personally. I told her that I am on security camera every day at work and had worn those items in the last two weeks and can prove it. The mules that were in the bottom of the basket were brand new and I still had the brand name boxes that they came in at home. She still insisted that they weren't my items. I still didn't have my other bag of clothes either and she pointed to six other bags in a circle and had me point out which one was my second bag. When she realized that I had proof that those items were mine, I asked her how she would have straightened this all out if my items sold and the other consignor got the $$$$. The employee said she would have figured it out and slid the credit over to me. How? You didn't even know those items were mine when I was right there in the store and they would have tagged them and put them on the floor. Then I looked in the bags and my clothes were all rumpled up like you'd be throwing them in the trash. When I decided to take all my items back from them and not consign with this store, that same employee told me: "Good luck with another consignment shop taking your clothes." So, I called the Williamsville store today and asked who I could express my concerns with and again encountered someone that defended the employees actions from the Elmwood store - like I would make this up and I told her that there were other people listening to all of this. After she told me that she is well connected with the other employees. She couldn't give me any information on the employees that worked yesterday, the owners name (which I think is on their website) and told me that "they have customers that get very angry with them" and "what did she want me to do about my situation?". I had asked from the beginning that an apology would have been nice or the employee not start an argument with me that I don't know what clothes I've bought and warn especially for her, in front of other customers. How do I prove to her, who doesn't care? How about if they were your things and it happened to you. The excuse was that they were busy. Hasn't happened at other consignment shops because they are organized. Final message for Second Chic Consignors: make sure you stand there and watch them go through your things! I gave them several chances to straighten this all out! When I told the Williamsville employee I would put this on social media, she said that I would be slandering the business. It's not slander if it's the truth of how it happened and other customers heard it. I feel badly for the rest of the consignors that brought their items in the same time I did because theirs are all screwed up toooooo!!! read more

I'm really glad that this is on Elmwood--we need more shops like this that can afford to stay open. Ever since their addition, their inventory has not only doubled in the mens section, but in my opinion has gotten a lot better. I have done a lot of business here as far as consignment goes. I bring in bags of things I no longer want, they go through and take what they think they can sell, it's pretty easy peasy. I like this place far better than Pandora's closet, mostly because they like vintage items, and I have a lot of vintage clothes. I do appreciate the more modern or contemporary items they have as well. Sometimes I think prices are a little steep, but it's pretty good overall for the area. Also, selling items is super simple. Once I relinquish my goods and they put them up for sale, I check about once a month or so to see if they have sold. If they have, they write me a check on the spot, pretty good deal...and if I want to use my earnings on store purchases, I get a higher return. If you're looking to make some extra cash or revamp your wardrobe, I'd suggest checking it out. :) read more
