It just depends on the buyers some are fashion forward and know high end stuff and some don't and have no business doing the buying their is no way high end stuff is being turned away and semi precious jewelry is turned away but they over pricing stuff from hm and Zara like this is cheaper at the actual store . Dallas BE is the worst of all them a little to thrifty, they need to make sure they buyers have a degree in fashion or know what vogue or gq is I had a friend who tried to sell a real CHANEL bag and they tried to offer her next to nothing read more

This store is on the Low-End of Buffalo Exchanges. Mens section there's a lot of used clothes from Costco, Wal-Mart, and Target priced higher than those stores retail them for. Not much vintage usually. Even rarer is designer stuff. You're better off at TJ Maxx. The buyers though are nice and will generally price stuff decently. They pass on a lot of stuff but thats the breaks selling at buffalo. Parking is horrible/non existent. Food is decent at Sundowner up the street. read more

If you are a local SMU college student or high schooler age, Buffalo Exchange will have really trendy current styles. My daughter says much better than Platos closet or Uptown Cheapskate, and I think better prices, too. They don't have an athletic wear section though, just a few pieces scattered throughout the store. And they don't have bathrooms so plan accordingly. read more

This place is just ridiculous as far as price and selling. I brought in two bags full of clothes. Hollister, American Eagle, nice brands and practically new. For the lady to say they aren't to her liking to put out on the floor when half of the items I owned and wanted to sell was out on the floor. this was my first time going in and they had so much stuff...most was expensive but that was kinda expected cause yk it's buffalo exchange. the employees are what made me iffy about the store this one middle aged?? women just took the clothes out of my hand to start me a fitting room which was appreciated but don't just take things from me. the other ones seemed chill but this orange haired girl, the orange haired girl would just look at me weirdly. so that made my whole experience less than fun when i'm just trying to shop..won't be coming back. read more

It's hard to leave a review because one half of the review is for the shopping experience and the other half is for the selling experience. Shopping experience: Amazing. Many things to choose from and amazing prices. Staff is helpful when you're looking to buy and guy even helped me carry stuff to front when I had wrist issues. He was smiling and good company. I've spent good money here. I'll be back to shop. Selling experience: The lady talking to me was nice and seemed upbeat. But out of three bins of clothes and a big bag they did not buy even a single item. They said they only sell what you'd find in stores but I find that to be mostly untrue because one reason I shop there so often is because they have unique funky clothes you'd never find in the stores, don't believe me? Very unhelpful staff. Brought a large box of clothes to the store to sell. Staff wouldn't help me carry the box or help me lift it in the counter. Also, masks are optional for staff, so be aware for those with Covid-phobia. The box included Howler Bros jacket, several jeans (worn only a few times), Lucky Brand sleeveless cotton t shirts, excellent condition clothes. They offered me $10 for a jacket and one pair of jeans. So disappointed. I would rather donate them to charity then be low balled for excellent condition clothes. On a positive note, I will say the online appointment scheduling is easy. The text reminders are convenient. On a not so positive note, the store smells awful. Pam is a terrible manager or whatever her title is. I've never had an issue selling here , i've been doing it for years. And I completely understand they are not going to take every piece of clothing I bring. BUT she barely even glanced at the 2 full bags I brought in and said no to every single piece. this has never happened before. Even if it was only 2-3. The clothing I buy is not cheap. SOME OF THE ITEMS I HAD EVEN GOTTEN FROM THERE. Some even still with tags. they sell garbage but my clothing was too out of date. will never be returning. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. I think COVID is now an excuse for shady business practices as you have to drop off your items and they'll get back to you. Well, we left a large pile of high end, trendy jeans that just weren't fitting, some brand new. They never gave a call back. We had to call back several times and chase them down and come to find out they took nothing and donated. I'm fine with donation, but I find it hard to believe that over $1000 in designer clothing resulted in $0. I am tempted to go in and see if I can locate the items on the rack and when questioned, they said they could do nothing about it and were overall clueless. Do not do business with these folks unless you can watch them. Ridiculous. read more

I usually shop here but I came in to sell. I have name brand items that I carefully selected to sell to Buffalo but after watching them and customers I'm assuming they only take items from white people. I say this after watching them help white person after white person and offer store credit / money to them but when my things were being parsed through, I could literally see them lazily pretend to look through the items , which were a lot. At one point I saw them laughing about something and then the person who started looking through my things left and a girl took over. She seemed to not even be looking at the clothes, she just put them back in the bag I carried them in. Apparently, these are all seasoned fashion professionals who know the latest trends, but I highly doubt it because none of them were dressed like it,( lol )and to be honest with you, after looking through their store, the style and selection has changed a lot. So let me get this straight. I wear my clothes. I hate my clothes. You buy them from me? Done and done! Okay it's a crap shoot here, as it is at every Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads-ish store like this one. On a good day, you can find a vintage Guns N Roses tee and snakeskin stilletos in your size for a fraction of what you would pay... even back in the day. On a bad day, you can sell them your old shiz that you don't want anymore. They give you a pretty good price for it, then you can donate the rest! My boys came here the afternoon of New year's Eve and found some very nifty attire for the night. Brant C found a bad A corderoy jacket and Clay G (Yet to join Yelp yet--Don't worry, I'll get him. Muahahaha) got a sweet button up that just screamed, " Hi. I'm Clay. I like things. I also like to party." Next time before going to the mall, clean out your closet and bring yo shtuff here. A THOUSAND times better than Plato's Closet (which I will never set foot in again on principle -- see my review of it if you're curious). I had to wait in line for almost an hour to sell my stuff, but a lady next to me said that she had never seen it so crowded, so I'm going to assume that this was a rare exception. The long wait probably had something to do with the fact that there was a woman taking up TWO of the four employees' time and attention with her four MASSIVE trunks of clothes. I'm dead serious when I say that if they hadn't been stuffed to the brim with clothes, two people could have easily fit inside one. This woman was there when I arrived, and she was still there when I left. It was insane. I don't know how anyone accumulates that many clothes in a lifetime, much less that many that you can afford to toss out! Annnnyyyway, when I finally got to have my turn at the counter, a very nice young man (wow, customer service! take notes, Plato's Closet) apologized for the wait and very clearly and simply explained how the process works. They quote you their selling price for each item, which is a little misleading, because then you only get 35% of that in cash, or 50% in store credit. This is shamelessly taking advantage of the fact that it's impossible to calculate 35% of anything in your head. Even the employee couldn't do it. Bring a calculator if you're worried about getting ripped off. At any rate, he took care in explaining every reason why he could not accept some of my clothes. (You wouldn't believe how many miniscule stains were invisible to my untrained but 20/20 eyes -- which made me think that people shopping for these clothes wouldn't notice either, but maybe I'm just not as savvy as the rest of you.) He accepted WAY more of my clothes than Plato's Closet, although that still wasn't very much. Since I went to both stores with the exact same box of clothes, I can objectively say that Buffalo Exchange is LESS picky (in terms of style and range of items accepted -- two scarf/wraps, for example) than Plato's Closet. I'm still thinking that craigslist would be a better deal if you have any really nice items to get rid of, and for regular clothes, I'd encourage you to just donate them to charity (like a shelter or the Salvation Army). I think that's what I'll do in the future. Oh, and one other thing -- if you're missing San Francisco, just stop by this store and be comforted by the fact that by god, hippies DO exist in Dallas. I absolutely love this place! My favorite thrift store! If I'm determined to find something, I always do. I would say this is a bougie thrift store, in other words a fancy thrift store. It's more expensive than the ideal thrift store for sure. But there's stuff for cheap. The name branded stuff are the higher price ones. Still it's cheaper then full price! All the clothes are in good condition as well, If you're not willing to spend money, I wouldn't suggest coming here. But there's a wide range of styles in the store. This is definitely a store that can get your closet looking more stylish. read more

I've had so many great experiences here! The staff has always been so nice and welcoming to me as a shopper and seller! They've been very complimentary to my items when selling and they've always been very transparent about what they are looking for and why certain garments don't match that. When it comes to selling secondhand product, you have to understand that the value is kind of like a car: it drops off significantly once worn a single time. You can't go in here expecting to get the full value of the item, but they do give about 30% of their list price, which is way better than some other resale shops! This is a fun unique/rare finds/vintage shopping spot. Clothing, shoes and accessories all brought in by customers that "sell" the items to Buffalo Exchange. If they buy your stuff (and they ARE picky), you can get credit to shop or a smaller amount in cash. I only went to shop this time, so this didn't effect my experience. I'm used to the Buffalo Exchange in Austin. This one was really small compared to Austin's. The staff was nice, but again...not as great as Austin's bubbly helpful crew. They weren't as funky either (which is part of the fun). That's just part of Austin though. We did end up finding some good stuff. DO NOT SELL YOUR CLOTHES HERE! Very annoying experience trying to sell my clothes. I waited in line about 15 minutes (not a big deal). Once I got up to the girl to sell my clothes she dumped everything out on the counter (I had it all neatly laundered and folded in a laundry basket) and extremely quickly, like literally without even looking at MOST of the clothes and as she was talking to a coworker, balled everything back up, threw the mess of clothes back into my basket and said she couldn't take ANYTHING. Mind you, I had spent HOURS the day before making sure everything was cleaned, ironed and neatly folded so that it looked good to try to sell. VERY ANNOYING!!!!! read more

I went into the Buffalo Exchange hoping for a bargain on used goods that would normally cost me full price, and boy was I surprised. What felt like floor to ceiling shirts, dresses, skirts, shorts, shoes, pants, accessories and the like, was a welcoming sight until was about two racks in (they have a lot of freaking stuff). Thankfully everything is sized, but everything is unique and different looking, it felt like I was in there for hours just looking through it all. If you want to try things on, you better wait if the store's full. They have a small area for trying on and it might be better to just buy and try on later. Behind the counter they have items brought in from their warehouse (not consignment) and nicer brand items for sale. I lucked out with a cute top fresh from the warehouse and a long, leisure maxi with tags still on it for a total under $30. I will say this place caters to a younger crowd, so it felt like I was at Northpark on a Friday night looking through Forever 21 before a movie. Not bad, just be prepared...it's not for the old and slow. ;) I think I might have reached the cusp of age where the like of trendy-cheap doesn't work, but I don't care. I had some items to consign and wasn't super familiar with all of the options in Dallas so I gave Buffalo Exchange a shot. First impression- it's very crowded, not logically laid out, parking is limited, and the store smells terrible. I brought in a laundry basket and 2 large shopping bags full of clothes, tons that were new with tag, this season, on trend, etc, and they accepted maybe 5-10% of what I brought in. I was offered $35 cash or $50ish in store credit. Next time I'll stick with Poshmark. read more

A lot of the items looked like what you could find in your parents' closet, ratty and not back in style, trying to pass for "vintage", for crazy prices. Maybe I just don't get the idea. I hadn't been here in ages and I forgot just how much *stuff* there is to sort through. Don't come in expecting thrift store prices - you'll pay anywhere from $15 for a top to triple digits for a designer steal. That's not to say these aren't great deals! And if you're willing to spend some serious time searching for that killer find, it will be well worth stopping in. I left with a top and pair of slacks for $37, which I count as a big win. Another positive is that they have a program where instead of a shopping bag you get a cardboard token. You get to choose which of three charities (they have labeled boxes by the register) to donate your token to, and then the store donates money to those charities based on the # of tokens they receive. Not a bad perk! As an FYI: be prepared for terrible parking. There's only a small amount in the front of the store and you will likely end up having to park on the street. As a long time customer of BE...and having been to 6-8 BE locations around the US, I only have one complaint about this location. When bringing in name brand, quality clothing to sell...at the selling counter they look at each piece. If they are buying it, great! If they are passing on it then they proceed to wad it up and toss it aside. It's as though when they deem in not suitable it's automatically worthless. Simply folding it takes just as many steps and shows respect for the customer and their clothes. read more

This place is awesome. First of all, the location is great, on Greenville it is in a great neighborhood and near lots of other great businesses. It has an amazing selection of clothes, it's hard to leave without buying something. Of course it is consignment, so the prices are a little higher for a normal second hand store, but there's still amazing deals. The setup of the store is great and easy to get around. Giving three stars because the prices are pretty expensive for a resale shop. You can get newer in style clothing from non-resale shops in my opinion. However, there are a few gems that are a (almost-steal). The store feels cluttered and it always smells very dusty. I guess you can't expect too much from a resale shop, but it would be nice if it wouldn't feel so cluttered. I do like most of the customer service, some of the associates can be rude and unwelcoming but for the most part I've had pretty good experiences. One thing I like is that instead of bags you get a token that you can drop into a charity box of your choosing. Instead of the bad, those proceeds go to a cause. I love that idea, and it saves on the environment (for those who care about that!) not somewhere I would go on the regular, but if you're in the area getting drinks/eating it's a fun place to just stop by and browse. read more

I called prior to showing up and spoke to Megan, I asked her if they were looking for anything specific. She said no we take clothes for all seasons. Great right? So I drive all the way to Greenville for these rude buyers to say "oh this isn't what we are looking for right now"!!! This is why I called first because I didn't want to waste my time on my off day. This place has turned into a must have fashion trendy store and is no longer the Buffalo Exchange I once knew. The clothes I brought in were not accepted...which is weird because on the website they are always looking for plus size clothing and jeans. Not one was taken and the clothes were in great condition, practically worn once! Plato's Closet took more items than this place did. Great store! Holds lots of retro and on-trend items. Prices are comparable to Target, so not as good as most other thrift stores, but you also don't have to deal with stained and ripped items, and everything is very organized and labeled, so the little increase in price is very noticeable in quality. The staff here are what make it though, they are courteous, nice, and all extremely fashionable. The dressing rooms are well manned and they'll hold clothes for you while you're shopping. Not a big fan of the shoe collection, but that's only because I have big feet :'(. read more

I'll start off by saying how great the staff is! Every time I go in they are more than happy to help me out. You can use their services to sell your old branded clothes. Nike, Adidas, Zara, Topshop are a few I personally trade in. You can either trade for cash or exchange clothes. They give you a price for all the clothing which is how you get your cash/trade. The price is an ok catch sometimes. I gave them $$$ Nike leggings and only received $ for them and they were only worn twice. So be a little hesitant on your pricier items. Pretty great selection, higher prices compared to other consignment stores in the area , and expect a loooong wait to sell. Came on a Saturday right after they opened. Three people in front of me. 30+ min wait. I'd get it if they were understaffed but I watched two employees behind the counter chatting while one did all the purchasing and a line accumulated of people trying to sell. They definitely have a good mix of clothes/shoes of all styles and there were truly some unique pieces but I also came across a pair of shoes 2x the price compared to another location. Hope the team can figure out a better system to handle demand. It looked like there was training going on which means the team is growing - that's awesome! What's not is interrupting and holding up a sale to go over a lesson plan with the only person manning the register. As an employee is in the middle of checking out a customer doesn't seem like the best time to stop the transaction and go over the details of which lessons they have taken... As a line accumulates. Since there are so many great thrift shops in the area - like Genesis in Oak Lawn - I'd rather go to a place with better pricing and doesn't require spending an hour to try to sell 10 items if clothing. read more
