Buffalo Exchange is a 2nd-hand shop with some nice clothing & some hefty prices. I'm not saying the costs were completely unjustified, the clothes were sturdy & higher quality, but it was unexpected. I found a lot of nice things, but not many available in women's XL. However, I purchased a fun moon-shaped necklace & have enjoyed wearing it since my visit. read more

It looks like others that have been there recently have had the same experience. The website just says they are looking for clothes in excellent condition. It specifically said plus size clothing. I had a lot of stuff from Torrid (which is really pricey / the go to plus size store) that I'd just purchased within a few months but some was too big and a bunch that I never wore. (I have a shopping problem and need space lol) I go in... I don't see a lot of plus stuff.. just a few items that are maybe 1x and xl... maybe there was a separate section I didn't see What I did see a lot of are really basic things like Hanes plane T shirts marked up to 10 bucks or basic plain tees with worn out necks. The ones I looked at were insanely overpriced for used basic items. I'm certain some were priced almost or over original price. I get up to my appointment and they are mainly looking for brands. The girl names them... NONE OF THOSE BRANDS REALLY CARRY PLUS SIZES. She tells me they are looking for stuff like bralettes (yes.. plus size bralettes) and graphic tees and high waisted jeans because that's what's selling. ( if you have only that next to Hanes shirts.. yes that's all that will sell. They basically just looked at the tags/ labels and set aside the items. ) 1. If you're looking for THAT specific of items, list that so people don't waste their time. If you only want Forever 21 or high label that isn't plus size specific, list that. If you're only looking for sizes up to like 1x, say so. What I think is that they've overstocked on not hot items, so they are now only looking for niche items. They were friendly.. but they seemed clueless about plus size clothing, and I feel like my time was wasted. That could have been prevented with a website stating exactly what they were looking for. I may delete this review once I'm less irritated, lol. read more

Couldn't find anything my size, not that great of a selection, things are overpriced and the website clearly stated that they bought the brands of clothing I sent to them to try to sell. They sent a note back telling me that they basically didn't buy those brands even though it's on their website. It's definitely not the best place for thrifting. read more

I've brought numerous items in good condition in here and the folks at Buffalo Exchange wouldn't buy them, even when they were nicer and in better condition than half the trash on their racks. Plato's closet bought almost everything that Buffalo Exchange wouldn't and also payed me a much better rate. I don't recommend going here. read more

Because zero wasn't an option. Tall manager with curly hair is extremely unprofessional. Singing loudly, overheard her complaining about her coworker's behavior. Lack of men's options compared to women. Overpriced. Bathrooms closed to the public. Terrible customer service for how expensive it is. read more

My mother and I traveled all the way here from out of state (only about an hour drive) to sell some clothes that we were having issues selling. We called this store before coming in and told them exactly what we were selling and they said that the stuff we had was exactly what they buy! Well, they only took about 3 items out of 3 large bags of clothes and gave us 20 bucks for it..... yet everything in there store is super worn, fast fashion, or hippie. Upon having that experience we were also treated awful by employees. I've never felt so judged and ignored by employees. We were completely ignored when we wanted to try on clothes yet we watched them help every person before and after us. When I gave the blonde lady my clothes that didn't end up working after trying it on, she just ignored me and grabbed the clothes out of my hands when I was trying to be nice. If anything, the employees judge you if you aren't wearing hippie clothes and have ur hair died blue. Extremely disappointed and disgusted by this place and highly discourage anyone from coming here. read more

I came up here to sell my clothes of course, I bring three big bag of clothes filled with barely worn clothes, new items, shoes, and formal dress. Out of everything they took NOTHING! Now I wouldn't be surprised if my clothes were dirty or holy but these were freshly washed or never worn clothes and they took nothing. And honestly I don't believe they looked through everything because it took less than 5 minutes for 3BIG BAGS. When I asked what was the reason they passed on all of my items I was told because of the "quality". I was in disbelief because majority of the items they have on their sales floor look and feel like doll clothes that had lint and tires in them. I don't want to bring racism into this but it's really frustrating. There were previous people before me and I seen what they took and the customers items were in worse condition than mine. read more

Out of the four Buffalo Exchanges I've been to, this one is by far my favorite! I have been in about a dozen times to either sell or buy. The buyers have the tact that the employees at Plato's Closet lack. I continue to be impressed by how professional everyone is. It does get frustrating when you don't understand why they wouldn't take some of your clothes, but it depends on what's selling and how full the store is. They have even told me I can bring the same clothes back and try to sell them again later. They have a great retro/vintage section. I love that they don't mark up the prices on these items like other places do! And all of the tags stamped with "SALE" are 50% off! read more

Wonderful experience at Buffalo Exchange this afternoon. I went to the store unaware appointments are now recommended for selling items and was assisted by a young woman who was generous to take a moment to look through the few items I had brought in. Was very polite and engaging while looking at my clothes and even provided me instructions on how to expedite payouts using PayPal! Give the young woman with long blonde hair, cool big glasses, and a rabbit chain a raise! They definitely treat you right here! Kudos! read more

Good variety of clothing for men and women. There was an assortment of vintage, eclectic, and current fashion items. The racks were sorted by sizes so it made browsing easier. I was able to find a nice, warm sweater in like new condition for $11. Most of the items that I looked at were in really good condition and most were name brands. read more

I've had nothing but good experiences here. True, they can RA bit picky with what they take and don't take, but bear in mind, they're taking things off of what's selling and what they have in stock, so it varies. If you stand with them though, they will explain all their reasonings to you and they're very nice about it. I went there for probably my 5th time today and the employees were incredible! Friendly, helpful, smiling, model employees! Especially Chloe!!!! She was amazing! I was shopping alone and had a GIANT haul. Not only was she incredibly helpful with the dressing room, and understanding when I had to run out and feed the meter, but she even was kind enough to give her opinion on some of the outfits I tried on. Chloe went above and beyond!!! Fantastic customer service! I LOVE this shop and I highly recommend it! There's a wide array of styles and articles of clothing, so sometimes you have to sift through carefully to find what you like. And... if they don't have what you like during your visit... never fear!!! They get in new clothes daily! So it's worth checking them out at least once a month if not weekly!! read more

Shopping here is incredibly fun however selling is a disaster. I've had many unprofessional encounters. After paying for parking an employee told me I had to made an appointment after finding out I did not, I had another employee talking to a friend about her hair salon for ten minutes while I was patiently waiting holding my things to sell which was heavy while acknowledging me, every other time is just extremely rude or very unprofessional and don't enjoy selling here. read more

I'm a traveling shopaholic from Las Vegas/California. This Buffalo Exchange is worth a stop in if you're looking for a cool used clothing spot. An important reason being the organization and service. Every person in the store seemed to be working hard to wherever they were assigned to. Everyone was also attentive to the customers. The clothing selection was pretty good. Overall, I made out with about 7 items for around $120. I was greeted by three or four staff members when I first came in. I asked for quarters for parking, they were all very friendly and helped out. I came back in, eyed a pair of shoes and reached for them, and Blake recognized it and encouraged me to try them on without being pushy. He has awesome style and a fun vibe, I can see why he was hired. More on some highlights of the staff, because everyone I encountered was friendly. Jaque- She made sure I was never holding too many items as I shopped. She checked on me multiple times and seemed like a very sweet girl. Caroline and Raven- They were working at the dressing room together. They had everything looking organized. Both were very sweet, complimentary, felt genuine. They each had their own unique vibe about them as well, adding to the energy inside the store. Caroline was nice enough to recommend an event for me to check out while visiting. Caroline- she introduced herself by telling me about a pink leather Zara jacket that she thought I'd like based off my outfit (she was spot on! Unfortunately it was a bit big, so if this is still a fresh post and you're a medium- it's super cute!) I then asked her who was a manager so I could compliment the staff, and she informed me she was. She continued to help me, answered some questions about Nashville, all while still multi tasking to keep on task. Also, if upper management reads this, when I expressed how impressed I was, she made sure to encourage me to leave a review to help inform other potential customers. She was very professional. Overall, if they were located in Vegas, I'd love to poach the staff for my own business. I'm not sure if this is Southern Hospitality. Other stores also had given good customer service, but this was the best in my two days here in Nashville, and I shop. I hope to see this spot doing well the next time I visit! This store is hit or miss, mostly miss. Walking through the aisles many of the clothes have makeup on them or have broken zippers/seams. When you try things on, nothing fits right! You can also sell your clothes here too but they don't take much. It seemed like the blonde manager was accepting a lot of clothes from her friend, but hardly any from me. Hmmmm. I've come here a couple times and I feel as though it is grossly overrated. Parking is difficult to find for free, and it pains me to pay $3 for parking when I know I will be somewhere less than an hour. The store is always busy, which is good for turnover of items, there is definitely always something new here! The staff is hard to find and not super friendly. I also feel as though it is very overpriced. For someones used items, I really don't think the prices match the quality. Wouldn't be rushing back here to shop, I think there are better thrift stores in and around the city. read more

Do not waste your time. I've been a customer at buffalo exchange for years but the recent policy change is a waste of time and lacks transparency. Looks like the store is open for shoppers to come in and shop around but dropping off clothes to sell, requires 24 hours which is no big deal. You have to call and book an appointment, leave your items untouched for 24 hours at home, bring it in throw it in a box and sits at the store untouched for 24 hours, then they call you back the next day tell you the final price, and ask if you like to receive the funds by PayPal or store credit. That's it. They cannot tell you how many items were processed, what was picked, did not give a reason why other items were not picked (if you care), and ask for all the same information they asked you when you booked the appointment in the first place (which should already be on file). The most disappointing factor is you cannot disagree with the trade if you think your anonymous # of items were priced unfairly. So do not bring your nice vintage pieces in for a trade. Basically everything is backwards and the lack of transparency is disappointing. I've expressed my disappointment with the manager and "sorry, new policy" is a very nice generic response. Company policy is something you can't do anything about so I get it. Using the pandemic to change policy for safety reasons is understandable but changing policy to cheat customers is rude and unfair. Please be more upfront with customers and express that everything you bring in is basically a donation and non-negotiable, opposite of the old buy and sell trade method. Staff were very sweet and kind so giving another star or maybe I shouldn't tell what the star was for.. hmmm. read more

First time selling to Buffalo Exchange and I was not the least bit impressed. The person handling my sale was great, but some girl named Brooke decided to butt in and tell my buyer not to take certain items he had chosen to accept, and one that he did accept she told him to buy for cheaper! I'm sure he has been properly trained on how to perform his job successfully and does not need her breathing over his shoulder and stuffing clothes back into the bag that do not even belong in that bag. Will not return, I suggest going to Plato's Closet as I will in the future. read more

So happy Nashville finally has a Buffalo Exchange! Used clothing stores--which are different than vintage clothing stores in that the clothing isn't "old", it's just been pre-owned and pre-worn--are my go-to when I'm shopping because you can get great brands at a fraction of what they cost originally. The affordable prices are the main reason I shop here. This location is pretty big, with a great selection for both guys and girls, from clothing to shoes to accessories. The clothes are categorized into types of garments and further arranged by size, which makes for an easy shopping experience. I've sold my clothes at BE back in California, and I assume the process is the same here: bring in your stuff and if they like something (they can be picky) they'll offer you cash or trade. It's always a better deal if you get store credit. The amount they give you is a percentage of what they'll re-sell it at. So if you're no longer into your $200 dress and are trying to make back what you paid for it, you're better off selling it on Ebay. Bring your unwanted clothes here if you really just want to get rid of them, but hopefully get a bit of money (or new clothes) out of it. The staff here is really friendly, warm, and helpful! There's a girl working here that's very rude. Grabbed my 1 year old daughter and handed her to me so aggressively while saying "if you could keep an eye on your kid better that'd be great" as the lady upfront had just told me my child was fine playing. I watched her touch clothes, dirty money, pick up things off the floor then put her hands on my child without my permission. Then tried running off like she was busy just to stand there and gossip about me and my child. So disrespectful and so unsanitary, especially during covid?? I've had some great finds here but I've also had days where I went and looked through everything and didn't find anything. There's some good vintage sprinkled among newer pieces. The prices are totally fair and there is a lot to look through. It seems like turnover here is pretty fast- I would say check back often to find the best stuff. I loveee the selection at buffalo exchange! They have the coolest stuff second hand out of anywhere in Nash that's actually affordable. However, when you bring stuff to "sell" to them be cautious. They won't take any of your stuff usually and if they don't take it you don't get any of YOUR STUFF BACK for whatever reason...so if you try to sell/donate make sure it's stuff that you actually don't want for sure because you won't get it back. read more

AWFUL! Snooty associates, bad business. They want high wasted pants and slouchy tops- basically anything a 100lb bohemian 20-something wanna-be artist in East Nash would wear. I brought in beautiful one of a kind pieces-dresses, free people tops, unique jewelry, all that I'd bought in independent shops in Nashville. Nashville doesn't want them back! Sorry for turning 30. I'm a REAL artist and graphic designer and I DO live in East Nash. Everything I saw in the store was less unique and out of the box than what I brought. My clothes are too vintage...I wore that Anthropologie shirt two years ago- they looked at me, saw I was an adult, and dismissed my clothes as old. What a bunch of small minded hussies. I didn't really want to let my Lucky Brand turquoise ring go for just $2 but I had to pay for parking. read more

Don't waste your time here! This place is sloppy and unorganized. Most of their stuff looked worn out, outdated, and dirty. Good luck trying to find something vintage, you have to dig for hours to find something decent. The staff is very lazy, rude, and careless. Be prepared to wait for a while to be checked out. Trading/selling is a gamble, they will accept accept your clothing depending on which cashier you get. One day they will reject your clothes, the next day they will accept it.
