Always enjoy lunch here when in Jamestown. Had the Steak salad today with poppyseed dressing on side. Very good. Also had this soup that was an egg, bacon, hollandaise... On our way out of N Dakota found this place on a main street. Figured we give it a try. Glad we did. Thai peanut smoked wings were dynamite. Jamestown, North Dakota is a mid-sized midwest town that is known by tourists as the town with the giant buffalo and known by locals as the town with the facilities for the mentally ill. 15000 people don't exactly make up your diverse metropolitan experience. Having said that, Jamestown keeps alive after the sun goes down. Every now and then, a guy gets a feelin' for grubbin' under a full moon. There's a couple shops that'll take care of you if you are the type to take care to travel downtown. A longtime friend of mine decided to treat me to a bit of local flavor at Sabir's Buffalo Grill, a unique Jamestown chuck wagon. Strollin' in off the street brings you up to the podium where you will get escorted to one of the cozy dining areas. There's lots of old architecture, so the general sentiment is quaint and friendly. It's a nice-looking shop. Unconventionally, our hostess was also our server. No issues there. Just observin'. I did observe that our server was a bit unvarnished, but I talked my head into believin; she was an abecedarian in the industry. No worries, she was courteous enough. She just seemed to lack a bit of the confidence that comes with tearing off a few calendar pages. A bit of scrutiny of the ol' carte du jour let me know that this place was gonna put a couple Commanders-in-Chief in a headlock. I come prepared for the occasion, but you don't wanna burn a rent payment if you don't have to. A person's gotta live, right. Live right. Keep the balance in the daybook, brothers! I put my crosshairs on the half rack of rotisserie ribs. The atlas don't exactly wax verbose about the details of the dishes, so I knew I was gonna have to hand over the wheel to the chef. It ain't good form to just throw out ambiguity in the description when the prices demand literary lucidity. Buy, hey! I'm a lowly peasant who's a sucker for the smokehouse, so I rolled the dice. The meal consisted of smoked buffalo wings, a cup of wild rice soup, ribs with wild rice and zucchini. If you are lookin' for joints that serve wild rice, you are going to have quite a stretch between water towers. Wild rice ain't all that popular despite the plant growing prolifically in neighboring Minnesota. Sabir's Buffalo Grill did it right, though, and that was a welcome surprise. The smoked wings were phenomenal and I will definitely reproduce that recipe someday. The wild rice soup was a hit. Creamy and very tasty. The ribs, as it turns out, were St. Louis cut, which was nice because the quote on a half rack slapped a shoeless Andrew Jackson out the ol' eelskin. A half rack of baby backs, at Sabir's price point would have been a bad bargain. Now, if you know your BBQ, you expect smoked St. Louis is gonna take work to peel off the bone. In reality, these ribs were pretty easy going. A savory dry rub and bourbon glaze made the extra labor worthwhile. When you put all the pieces in the box, Sabir's Buffalo Grill is a decent place to drop in for a bite. I gotta tell you, as a fellow working class dude, that the Buffalo Grill is gonna run a bit of a stampede on your money clip. If you follow a budget or you got a line of ducklings to tow, you might look elsewhere. But, if you got a credit line against the national debt, let it ride. Sabir's Buffalo Grill is one of the finest places in Jamestown. Now, listen. Jamestown is one of those fancy university towns. Taxpayers know that, where you got your academies of higher learning, you also got a few young men and women who gotta juggle bein' underpaid while simultaneously keeping the ol' alma mater overpaid. Everyday presents an opportunity to make a difference. Help these scholars focus on the future. If you can take the hit from Sabir's price list, you can peel off double digit dead diplomats for developing dynamic disciples. Be awesome! My husband and I went for dinner about 7:00pm in a Tuesday. Wasn't greeted at door and when the hostess showed up she said "how can I help you" which I thought was weird. Uh, we need a table for two. We were seated and given water at a booth in the bar area. The bartender was our waiter and was friendly and competent. The food was mediocre at best. Not bad but not great. Flavors were good but it wasn't worth the prices they charge. 4 star prices for at best 2 Star meal. Service was ok. I wouldn't go again. read more

Very nice atmosphere and a very nice waiter. But then the calamari came.... It had to have been the cheapest frozen stuff they could find then they added old fries that they forgot to remove from the fryer a day or so ago. Place it all on a poor chunk of kale and you got 13 dollar plate of calamari. We should have used our rule and left but the waiter was nice so we ordered dinner. Stopped in for lunch my first time in town. Had the beef tenderloin salad with blue cheese dressing. Outstanding fresh garden salad flavor . Beef was cooked perfectly , tender and delicious. Had an excellent glass of Malbec. I will return soon, perhaps this evening for dinner, perhaps steak and seafood with friends in area. We celebrated my wife's birthday here and our steak was seasoned and prepared perfectly. The waiter was very attentive and served us well, the key lime pie we shared for dessert which was on the house also was excellent. Will return again. read more

They serve a pretty good steak I must say. I'd avoid their more "adventurous" offerings and just get an old fashioned steak, potato, and salad and you'll be golden. read more

The bar had a neat ambiance, i enjoyed the first impression of the restaurant. The staff was very friendly but fairly slow for it being a Monday and not busy. There seemed to only be one server on so we understood the wait but they should not be so short staffed during lunch hours. The nachos were very good. We also had the salmon mac, which i do not recommend. The salmon was very over powering and the mac was incredibly bland. The sauce had hardly any flavor. For the food quality it was on the spendy side. However the portions were large. read more

VERY slow service. To start it too over 5 minutes to even get an acknowledgment that I was in the restaurant. Then it took another 10 minutes to place an order. Server seemed completely disinterested in taking any orders, for a Monday night the place was very slow, both in customers and service, not what I'd expect to go together. Dinner (1/4 chicken) finally arrived, surprisingly good given the rest of the experience. Not great by any means but good. A place to try if you have time and patience. Be prepared to ask for everything, the server did not give any advice, provide the information on specials, soup or offer dessert, clearly not interested in his job or getting any gratuity. I did witness other servers provide better (not great) service to other tables, so maybe I happened to get the least interested server. Sad to think your experience here will depend on the server. For me I'd think twice before coming back here, if I do I'd make sure to request another server besides the one I got tonight (Drew). Good ambiance, good food, very poor service. read more
