The driveway is extremely steep and gravel. The first time I only made it half way in my Subaru Impreza. I bottomed out. Attempts after that I stayed to the far left in low gear and could make it. Then the stairs up to the cabin are very steep with high steps. Inside, the stairs to the left are steep and unevenly spaced. Other than that , the cabin is beautiful. Kitchen fully stocked with whatever pan, bowl or utensil needed. Beds are comfy. Shower is amazing. So is the hot tub. The fire pit area is landscaped nicely . River was up. So, we didn't get to float. However, hiking areas are beautiful. Found our way to Jasper one day and explored there.

It has a small business vibe that makes it feel like home, but during events there's never enough…read morestaff. They quickly become overwhelmed and the staff can get rude. To make matters worse they charge per .... Every Person , every tent, camper and every buggy. So while they are calculating the cost for each item. Then need to count and make change for each person. It makes getting in a hassle and there is not usually any person to direct you to a spot. You're lucky if they point you towards the spot and say "somewhere between...... but not these ....... Those are taken. It's far away both good and bad. If you Forgot something or need to get a part for your buggy . It's a wasted 1/2 day in my opinion. So bring whatever you think you need and maybe some spare parts. I recommend a filter for your RV water intake because it can be very murky. The restaurant serves good food. The sights are amazing. Most guests are very friendly and welcoming. Sometimes it can get rowdy on the weekends. Forest service prays on out of towners that get on the wrong trails so get a map! It's all about making the best memories possible.

We always have a blast here. The Riverfront Restaurant at Byrd's has great food and a beautiful view of the river. They even have grass landing strips for those who fly. There is always something to do at Byrd's or you can just relax and listen to the river. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and are helpful.

Kids (and adults) will love scrambling on all the large rocks. Adults with enjoy the beauty of creation. And if you are brave enough, you will find a cathedral-type cave at the end of your journey. You do have to squeeze to find it, but the trip back into the cave is worth it--just be careful of any low hanging bats (lol!). My wife and I have lived in NWA for 5+ years and we do this hike at least once a year. Sometimes just us, but usually with a group and no one has ever complained about the distance or that they were bored. So good! I love this hike and I know you will too!!

Lost Valley Trail - Buffalo National River, Arkansas…read more Lost Valley Trail was a great hike and one of the highlights of our time exploring the Buffalo National River area. The trail takes you through a beautiful, heavily wooded Ozark landscape with towering trees, rocky creek beds, huge rock formations, and some really impressive bluffs along the way. We made our way to Eden Falls and also checked out the cave, which made the hike even more fun and adventurous. The scenery around the rock formations and cave was probably my favorite part of the trail. The only disappointment was that the area hadn't received much rain recently, so Eden Falls was completely dried up during our visit. Even without the waterfall flowing, though, the hike itself was definitely worth doing. The forest, cliffs, creek beds, and cave still provided plenty to see and made for a beautiful outdoor experience. Great hike with lots of variety and beautiful Ozark scenery. I would definitely recommend visiting--just try to go after some rainfall if you want to see Eden Falls flowing!

Accessible by sedan also is a big big plus bc my ignorant self did not take off-roading into account (and did it anyway) which I don't recommend esp if you have access to a Jeep or other all-terrain vehicle. I did this hike through the rain and it wasn't too bad but just watch out for slippery rocks. There are a bunch of slick rocks in the end where the cave is so don't be a dummy like me and try to traverse it because it's a little sketch but still super fun. You can easily dial this short hike into a workout and it'll def be harder coming back up. Bring some water and snacks to chill out at the cave, but always Leave No Trace~ Would definitely come back with my Jeep in the future. Winter time looks extra fun since the falls actually freeze over :O

Pretty excellent hike. Off of 43 there's a sign that said Compton trail head with an arrow pointing…read moreright. Turn onto that dirt road and go down until it gives you the option to go straight or turn left or right. Turn right and go down that dirt road. You will see a sign for Compton trail head. Park in there and go out for your hike. Definitely worth it. It was a steep trail after about the first .5 miles. Going down was a bit tough on the knees, but the falls were worth it. Just drops really at this time of year, but impressive nonetheless. Definitely bring a snack and plenty of water. Spend time taking photos once you get down. Also, hike the unkept trail at the falls. It will bring you behind the falls and over to diamond falls, which is a hidden gem of a water falls.

This is a beautiful hike but make sure you know what you're doing before you select this trail. The…read morefirst .5 mile is easy, after that it gets pretty steep with large rocky areas to get down. My fiance and I have done 5+ mile hikes but this was a bit too much for my short legs to handle and we turned back at about 1.9 miles in. The falls were so close but it was just more climbing down rocky areas that I didn't think I could handle climbing back up. Make sure to bring water and a snack. Also bring a walking stick or find a branch to remove spiders from your path.
