What an amazing atmosphere and wonderful game. The fans are so passionate and loyal. The arena is so clean and comfortable. This was a double overtime game. What a special evening and a fight to boot

The Buffalo Sabres advanced to the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals.

The Buffalo Sabres are one of the NHL's older teams, but not among the oldest. The Sabres and Vancouver Canucks joined the league in 1970 as the 13th and 14th teams. Today, the NHL has 32 teams. Since 1970, both the Sabres and Canucks have won their conference three times and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. However, neither team has won the Cup yet. Where the Sabres differentiate themselves from the Canucks is in all-time points percentage, both in the regular season and postseason. In regular-season points percentage, the Sabres rank in the top half of the league while the Canucks are close to the bottom. The two teams' records are closer in the postseason, but the Sabres have still set themselves apart from their 1970 expansion mate. The Sabres won the Presidents' Trophy for having the best record (most points) during the 2006-07 regular season. They made it to the Eastern Conference Finals that year, but lost 4-1 to the Ottawa Senators. The Senators went on to lose to the Anaheim Ducks in the Finals. That was the second straight year the Sabres made it to the Conference Finals. They lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes the year prior (2006). The last decade has been a bad one for the Sabres with zero playoff appearances since 2011. The team is currently trying to break, by far, the longest playoff drought in franchise history. The Sabres of today are a far cry from what was once a perennial playoff team. And not only did the Sabres make the playoffs, they won in the playoffs. The 1999 Stanley Cup Finals is a painful memory for Sabres fans. As I wrote in my review for the Dallas Stars (https://www.yelp.com/biz/dallas-stars-dallas?hrid=vMVpN9vc7fcBN9bAvg3Xnw), Game 6 was a classic. It was a triple-overtime thriller that ended with a controversial Stanley-Cup-winning goal: https://youtu.be/vF_LRVuhNa4. According to the NHL's rules at the time, Brett Hull's goal for the Stars was good even though his skate was in the crease. The controversy led to a rule change the following season.

It's been a while since we went to a Sabres game and we had a great time! Home opener and the team played great even though they lost. The mood is upbeat throughout the game and the between the period entertainment was a lot of fun. Will be back this season, not sure when...food choices have been upgraded and lots of choices. Sitting in the 200s went to the bar for a few drinks as well. Enjoyed it thoroughly! Go Sabres!!!!

    Sabretooth of course!

The Sabres are always a good time out with family and friends! Not a bad seat in the house and so much entertainment! There is nothing better than watching a hockey game live from the stands! Make sure to check out the organist, dj's and of course Sabretooth running around the stadium giving out prizes or banging his drum to the legendary Let's Go Buffalo chant! There is plenty of parking at multiple price levels, my suggestion is always get there early to avoid traffic lines.

Fun times at the rink. Glad I caught a win because with this team who knows. As always, good hockey and a great crowd to back them up.

I felt very confused on parking but we just did Google maps and followed traffic it wasnt as bad as I thought. We ended up parking at ECC and there was no charge for the practice. It was easy in and even easier out. It was a 5 minute walk to the back gate B of the stadium. My only beef was I was told that my small purse was too Big. Had to walk back to car. Keep in mind I measured it and I use this purse for Sabres games. I was told it needs to be smaller than my hand. Keep that in mind when taking a purse Reason 1 why I gave this a 4. Walked in and wow very roomy and didn't know where to start. Since this was general admission we just walked around and took it all in. Not all food places were open but we had fries, burger and a drink were reasonable. Everything is no cash and the Bills store is strange you place your bag in a box and it reads what is in the bag. Not sure how accurate that will be in time. We took pictures in different areas of the stadium I think views are great. I am sure there are obstructed views but overall I think it's good. Seats are higher than normal nice for me a tall person. And when someone gets up to leave their seats, Lots of room and great leg room. Only concern seats seem cheap plastic. Not sure how wear and tear with the weather will keep them lasting long. Bathroom for women wow lots of stalls. It was very clean after the practice but as I stated less people at this time. Remember if you are waiting for someone. Its enter only and exit only so if you are waiting for someone they are coming out another door. We Walked out the front to view the Buffaloes. That was an awesome addition with some things and tents for before game experiences. Nice walkway around the stadium. During a game and a full stadium it may be more crowded than when we went but I think this new stadium was a good idea.

I love all the new fan elements both inside and outside, like mini golf, photo opportunities, temporary tattoo, and bracelet making. Gate entry is smooth and much quicker, while still being safe. Only downsides are the food prices being significantly more expensive and a lot of steep steps in the 400s. Can't wait to see this place during a regular season game! Energy was high and the overhang keeps the sound in, so it was very loud with cheers.

My friends that are Sabres fans are die hard. Keep hope alive! The team has twice advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals, losing to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1975 and to the Dallas Stars in 1999. The Sabres, along with the Canucks, are the oldest active NHL franchises to have never won the Stanley Cup. Support your teams!! I have a Yelp friend on a mission from God posting U.S. Post Offices. I have been a fan since the teams inception, have watched them through the 70's, 80's, 90's, etc…read more This team in 2020 and 2021, is by far, the worst EVER. They are over matched in 90% of the games they play. They lack real talent, have zero star quality players, and no amount of coaching can help them win. They have reached their ceiling, and it's just not good enough. They are slow to the puck, rarely have an edge in zone play, and almost never win puck battles. The defense is porous and weak, and giveaways are constant. The goalie situation is putrid. No toughness, no tenacity, no heart is what this team is known for and the opposition takes advantage and manhandles them every night. I would be surprised if they could beat an AHL team, including their own. This team is the softest in the league.........the Sabres are UNWATCHABLE!!!
