Playground for the smaller kids maybe ranging from 1-10, swings, a green space for older kiddos that may want to bring their balls or fly kites, a trail if you want to get in some steps and even a splash pad for when it's warmer out. As for the clientele, most everyone was pretty well-behaved outside of a couple of over-excited canines. There's wasn't much nipping or territorial behavior and my friend's smallish beagle got along fine even with the bigger ones. They've even got some lawn chairs for owners to lounge on and a sizable parking lot. If you've got a doggie, great space to visit, even on a hot sunny day with all the tree cover. So come on down and visit Oakwood Dog Park, just watch out for the occasional land mines left behind by negligent doggie owners....

We entered the dog park through the side entrance. Both entrances have a double fence making it easy to leash and unleash your dog and prevent escapees. It seems most people bring their dogs around 5:30/6 pm weekdays. We are looking forward to attending when more dogs are here. The park has equipment, toys, water, and waste stations. The place is clean and there are bathrooms and a visitors center where members of the Army Corp of Engineers will happily answer any questions that you may have. Great place and it is all free.
