This is my first visit to this place. We arrived around 11:30-12pm. We were greeted and taken to our table. With it being a buffet everything is self serve even your condiments. They were in packets. Our server was friendly. She delivered our drinks, pickup our plates, and check on us if we needed anything. If we did, she directed us where to get it. The place seemed clean. As far as the food, my husband or myself were not impressed. The food was lukewarm and everything the overcooked. Tried the sushi, it was lacking with any flavor. The banana pudding that didn't have any bananas in it was probably one of the better tasting things. It's was $20 each. I was surprised to see no Asian workers. Perhaps they were only the cooks. I am a regular customer, and this is my daughter's favorite restaurant, but the service and management are awful. The waitresses make my guests and me feel extremely uncomfortable. They interrupt our conversations every 3 minutes, bring the check without being asked, and clear plates while we are still eating. Even my guests have commented on how uncomfortable and rushed they feel when I invite them here. Today, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 12:54 PM, I called the restaurant directly at 601-649-3366 to speak with the manager on duty to give a polite and constructive suggestion. Instead of listening, the manager got upset, claimed she didn't understand anything, and hung up on me. It is clear that the bad service starts with management. They don't respect their customers. Buffet Palace - Chinese Near Me - Laurel, Mississippi

For the Laurel, MS area this is a solid three star joint. To me it was more of a two star experience as I have had exponentially far superior Asian buffet experiences. The sushi portion of the buffet was a one star experience on par or below grocery store pre-made sushi rolls. This buffet is MUCH better than the nearby China Wok that while far cheaper serves utter garbage food! Overall they have a decent selection here of pretty mediocre food. Most of the food items seem to be pre-made Chinese themed food that came out of some kind of package that just needed some reheating. Service was a bit slow in the beginning and then warmed up fast to being very good. Overall for the price it just didn't seem like a good value as I could have had a far superior steak dinner for around the same cost as this mediocre buffet. If you want to hog out and stuff yourself this might be a better choice for you though. read more

My wife and I stopped by around 4:30 in the evening to try out this restaurant. They display of food look very inviting, but everything we tried was lukewarm and it looked like it was sitting for a good while. The only thing that was warm and tasty was the egg drop soup. read more

I had lunch here this week and realized my original review was several years old and since then this restaurant has relocated to a new location. The new location is large inside with plenty of parking outside in their own lot. My lunch was about $10 before the drink and everything that I tried I enjoyed. The egg drop soup was particularly rich and robust. The seafood options were plentiful and tasty. There was plenty of selection available and ice cream to finish! They also have a hibachi option here that I didn't try on this visit. Table service was prompt and efficient. This restaurant is your best bet for a Chinese buffet in Laurel. Arrived for lunch at 11:00 a.m., everything looked good. They added a hibachi bar since my last visit which was a plus. Server was attentive and accommodating. The problem arose when my daughter and I sat down to eat. Everything was delicious until the sesame "gangrenous" chicken was bitten into. My daughter started gagging just from biting into the otherwise concealed, crusty green morsel. I called the server over and asked if it was supposed to be that way - legitimate question. She got the manager and the manager grinned all the way telling us they "have the best sesame chicken." The manager went to the back and came back out and said "it was over cooked and she was sorry but it happens" basically. My daughter couldn't finish her lunch for gagging. I went to pay a $32.00 bill and asked for a discount on my daughter's plate. We were told she'd give a small discount. So out of $40.00 I got $11.00 back. So - beware the sesame "gangrenous" chicken. The service was good but the food was absolutely terrible and cold. The only item that was good was the hot and sour soup, simply because it was the only item hot. It was also extremely cold in there so if you go, I highly recommend you don't, but if you go bring a jacket. read more

I got a plate to go that cost $18! When I got home everything was cold expect for the sweet and sour sauce. I live less than 5 minutes from the restaurant. Also, the server told me I had to wear gloves but no one else there were wearing gloves to fix their plates. I'm never going back. Terrible. read more

Honestly cheap eating. The one star is for the food not the staff minus the rude lady playing glove police. Food was mediocre at best nothing tasteful nor special. Silverware was plastic and plates where plastic as well. They also expected everyone to wear gloves which was in my opinion overboard. The $14 I paid simply was not worth the quality of food. The server could no speak english. More worried about her phone. The little girl in front of the place should have said you will need Tums when. you are done that it is the worst food in Laurel. Gas station burger would have been better than this place. I would not even feed the cats out back as they would run when they saw this crap. PLEASE do us all a favor and close your doors. Very good food every time we come. Very good service. If something is missing they will go get it. Very spicy. Very peppery. Nice selection of fruits. I know a lot of people who eat here an love it. This was an okay buffet. Not the greatest variety but not the smallest either. We came on a Saturday evening a little before 5 but the still charged us the weekend evening price which was $14.99 plus drinks. We thought that was way to high for what you got. The sushi was just so so and no Mongolian grill. 3 short hot tables a salad table a dessert table and a sushi bar. They did have frog legs which were excellent and crab legs shrimp and crawfish which I did not taste. Also the soup wasn't hot enough to kill germs so that was scary. The food is general commercial grade. The place could be cleaner and but the service is fair. This is the least best "Chinese" in Laurel, and I would go home or to another in town or even Hattiesburg before I went here again. The price is not great for what you get in this smaller town market. It does offer some variety including American/Mexican food but no frills. This mediocre Asian buffet loses points for jacking the price up on Christmas Day for a "Seafood Buffet" offering at $15+. I've eaten here several times but in no way would I pay that kind of money here at anytime. The last and final time and in fact the past couple of times I have been here I did not pay because I was a guest of family who likes the "gumbo". Funny, this time they said "You know this gumbo would be good if it wasn't so salty." I said, "So it doesn't taste that great?" Response: "No." The other diner in our party commented on how bad the food was as well. Said they had stopped eating here once before because it tasted so rough and now it was again going down hill. One thing I found interesting was that they had chicken backs in the wing container. I don't mind chicken backs and as a Chef I know if you can use it and not waste it that's great. Usually we use those in stocks for soup. But there it was, a split back section (no wing attached) and its partners. My dining party did not believe it so I brought a couple to the table. I think it was a little too country for them. I did enjoy them though but then I eat all kinds of offal. The problem is, the quality is very poor. The shrimp in the chili was old--not sitting on the line too long, but old as in NOT fresh. It was beginning to turn. And my stomach felt it. Other foods were similar in quality and had poor taste in general. It is disappointing to me that a place like this can actually bring in the customers and win the paper's Best Choice award. The prices have also gone up recently and fluctuate often so you really don't know before you ask. The fish tanks in front could use cleaning as well.They stink. As an entrepreneur I wish everyone the best. But if you don't give a care about the quality of your product, why should anyone buy from you at premium prices?
