I have to echo what other reviewers have said. The office makes you make separate appointments for issues that, at OTHER doctors' offices, are handled together. They also won't renew your prescriptions unless you come in, so you are sort of held hostage. We switched because it all seemed to be a money-grab to us. read more

Met with Dr. Buffington and his wonderful staff yesterday. Their officers are exceptional, and never once did I feel like I was in a medical facility. My wait time to go back was minimal, and once out of the waiting I was attended to quickly. There are lots of friendly faces around that office who are all very polite. The doctor was able to quickly and efficiently address my health needs and concerns. One major perk to their offices is that almost everything is done over technology. I had an issue with getting a prescription filled, and was able to resolve the whole ordeal though their patient portal (which they are very quick to respond on). The high turnover amongst the PAs is overshadowed by their lack of appreciation for their customers. We have been going to this clinic since we moved here 7yrs ago but the lack of appreciation and the unprofessionalism is too much for us. I couldn't understand why I couldn't make 2 appointments in the same day until it dawned on me......insurance! You see, Dr. Buffington requires me to see separate PA's for separate diagnosis . I see one for my sleep meds and one for thyroid meds. I tried to book 2 appointments to see each PA in the same day as it is difficult to take off work, but was told that they can't make 2 appointments in the same day. Well, after talking with my insurance company, I realized that they can't CHARGE for 2 appointments in the same day under Dr. Buffington (who the claims are under). So basically, I think he pushes you off on his PA's to separate out the office visit billings. I don't agree with this and will be looking for another physician that can handle 2 prescriptions! read more

my review is about the business in general and not the treatment I receive which is just fine. i have been going here over the past 5 years and I'm very disappointed with how "downhill" it has gone in my opinion. When I first started visiting, I would call to schedule or get questions answered and I would speak to this very nice lady. Over the next 5 years it turned corporation and I now talk to a automated response system and never speak to a human. just the other day I called 4 times around 2:30pm CST and i was quickly routed to a voicemail to leave a message. I left a message and got a text about "we will get back to you but for faster response you can text us" with a link. over an hour later received a text saying I have received a message and to clicked the link. No one ever called me back. also I used to see Dr Buffington when I went in but now I always get told he is busy and I can wait or see someone else. As I said I have nothing against the staff but the administration of this facility is all about money and making feel like a barcode. I feel like health and wellness is going out the window. This whole concept makes me very angry about the situation and I'd rather go find another doctor that's not so busy read more

I have been a patient here for years and it used to be a fantastic practice. But for the past couple of years, every time I try to make an appointment, they try to insist that I see the physician assistant. They have had quite a bit of turnover with their PAs over the past few years. The last time I tried to make an appointment and insisted on seeing the actual physician, the front desk staff member gave me such attitude but finally agreed to do it, but I had to wait a very long time for an appointment. On the day of my appointment I went to the last location where I saw them last, which is also where where Waze, the navigation app, told me to go when I typed in "Buffington Family Medicine." Apparently they had moved and no one informed me when I made my appointment. I rushed to the new location as fast as I could (after calling and getting no answer but hearing the new address on the phone prompts) but was about 8 minutes late for my appointment and told that they could not see me. I explained how difficult it was for me to get this appointment and how hard it was for me to get time off of work but they still would not see me. I explained that no one had told me that they moved offices and that even my navigation app took me to the old location. They said, "sorry, it's Dr. Buffington's policy." Unbelievable. Buffington's a great doc but his office staff leaves a whole, whole lot to be desired! Time to find a new family physician! read more

I contacted this Dr. in January for and appointment for a full check up. The earliest appointment was March 1st. I paid cash, the appointment was very quick. The front office staff we're nice, the nurse that called me back wasn't. She didn't speak to me or really care why I was there. The Dr. came in I told him the one issue I was having and he made me feel like it was in my head and I was having anxiety. He said do you want to give blood work it's extra? I said sure no problem, he said we'll you did just have surgery I can have you sign a release form from that Dr. and I'll use that. I said sure! He checked my lungs and breathing and appointment was over in 10 minutes. I get to the front counter to leave appointment was $250 for a quick appointment. I was told to go online a sign the release, I did this the same day. Today is April 22, I haven't received a call a follow up or an email from this Dr. I called no return call, I feel as though he just took my money and I didn't get anything from them. We moved into the area about a year ago and this was the first physician we started seeing. I can say without a doubt that this is the most unprofessional doctor's office that I've ever been to. Nurses will never call you back. At one point I was awaiting some serious test results and I had to call multiple times to find out what my results were. More recently, I scheduled a visit and showed up to my appointment only to find out that I was going to be charged extra due to an additional test that they no longer bill through insurance. This should've been communicated to me up front when I gave the reason for my visit, not after I show up and make the co-pay. Without seeing the doctor, I politely told them I wasn't aware and didn't feel like this test was necessary. I asked my my co-pay back and left and told my wife it was probably time we find another doctor. I wasn't going to even write a review because I did receive my co-pay back by the receptionist. Later, just like another reviewer mentioned, I too received a letter in the mail saying, "I can no longer be your physician." After receiving the condescending letter, I felt it necessary to share my awful experiences with this office. TL: DR Everyone new moving to the area, stay clear of this office. I've never been to or even heard of a more unprofessional doctor's office. Nurses won't call back, policies that affect your payment aren't disclosed, and the second you aren't in agreement with something... he mails you a letter saying he can't be your doctor anymore. read more

Went here today for an overall appointment with a primary care doctor, which I thought he was. However they separate your appointments up for different issues even though you called and scheduled it for an overall wellness check. I'll find someone who doesn't try to separate health checks in order to gain more money from insurance. The lady at the front desk stated insurance doesn't allow to put things together for an appointment (which I have done before so I know that's a lie). The lady at the front desk was also extremely rude, not even trying to be a little helpful. Understandably I was late (wreck at rufe snow and the awful construction detours even leaving 40 minutes early) so I get having to reschedule. However I took off a day from work and asked if she could fit me in if anyone else was late or cancelled and she said how would I know if that happens. She acted like she had literally no empathy and could care less and even rolled her eyes. No care whatsoever for new patients. Not only that, but she violated HIPAA by saying why I was there in front of other patients and it made me extremely uncomfortable. I will not be returning, get better office staff, they will run your business to the ground with how they treat patients and discuss medical concerns in front of others. read more

This used to be a good dr but some of his staff has always been questionable. For example a nurse who couldn't read blood pressure. I came in for very high blood pressure and she told me it was 120/80. She also did the same to a friend of mine who used this dr. Final straw was recently when he refused to see my husband (an established patient) who was experiencing upper back/shoulder pain. Kept saying he needed to go to the ER but wouldn't say why. Also the nurse delivering the message about the dr refusing to see him was extremely rude. So we fired him as our dr. I know he doesn't care but I wanted to leave a review so maybe nobody else experiences such lax care. read more

Dr. Buffington has helped my entire family with their specific needs and made us feel comfortable, welcome, and takes the time to get to know his patients on a personal level as well as professionally. Writing this review to just let anyone who is new to know that the receptionist that I just spoke to was so insensitive. My family and I just moved to the area about 2 weeks ago. It's been quite hectic trying to get our kiddos settled into four different schools, unpack, find doctors, dentist, etc, not to mention get accustomed to a new place. I started feeling not so great about a few days into our move, but as any mamma knows, we can't afford to get "sick" and usually push off going to the doctor. I did end up going to minute clinic after five days and was told it was allergies. I knew it wasn't allergies because I've had allergies for years and this was in my chest. The chest congestion was bad. I explained this to the receptionist and was told that I could be seen in October...why would anyone think someone would want to wait 3 weeks when they could barely handle the 10 days past?????! She then said that "new patients have that long a wait but not patients already in the system. Again...why would anyone new want to go there then? Everyone has to be a new patient at some time and with today's technology there's no reason for ANYONE to wait that long. I should be able to fill out online forms, get my insurance checked and be seen in a day at the most. Bottom line... Don't waste your time if you are new and sick and need to be seen. It's so sad when office staff messes up your business outlook. They are the first impression a client/patient has of the business. My sister is coming to visit this Friday and she and her husband are doctors so I'll just wait for them and get personal the personal attention and diagnosis! read more

Dr. Buffington is very sincere and that makes it easy to talk with him, especially about sensitive issues. I feel like he listens and is not dismissive of my concerns. Untrustworthy and a waste of time and money! After several visits of nurses coming out into the busy waiting room and discussing my medical records and other visits of me correcting nurses (again in the waiting room) for why I was there and what blood tests I was supposedly needing; sadly, this office is a lawsuit waiting to happen. If they hadn't already, Dr. Buffington and his staff completely lost my trust the day I received a nearly $7,000 bill from American Labs for a saliva test. Apparently, this office ran a medically unnecessary swab test on me (they told me I couldn't have my prescription till I took this test, come to find out that was not true) and also switched lab companies without informing me. I contacted his office after receiving this bill and they explained that they couldn't find my medical records. Shady and unsettling since I expect these people to keep track of my medical history. I was forced to contact my insurance company who also contacted Buffington's office and the office staff claimed they didn't run any tests on me (which they did but lost the record?). It's been a huge mess! Throughout my year and a half there, Dr. Buffington ran several unnecessary blood tests on me that other senior doctors have informed me they've never tested anyone for such tests in their many years of practice. I can only assume that Dr. Buffington is getting a huge kick back for each of these tests. This is not a business I would ever trust with my health. I've already changed my doctor and feel much more comfortable visiting a doctor and office that I trust to do what's medically necessary while keeping track of my medical records. read more
