INCOMPETENCE! Look it up in the dictionary and you will see pictures of Buford Family Dental front office staff! Dr. Choi is actually amazing, but the front office will make sure that I never get in to see him. MONTHS! I've spent SEVERAL MONTHS getting rescheduled for my cleaning. The last attempt was over two months ago via an automated system, and today was the soonest they could see me. Mere minutes before my appointment, and, yep, you guessed it, they call me to reschedule AGAIN! This time, it's over a note they need from my Dr. because of a medical event that I had six months ago. During the many months of rescheduling, they HAD THIS INFORMATION, but only decided to act on it ten minutes before my appointment, while I'm sitting in traffic, having taken yet another partial day off of work! They recommended I get my teeth cleaned four times a year, but they won't actually see me that often. I'm three cleanings past due. Again, my dentist is awesome. I really like him. I guess I'll never get to see him again, though? Does anyone have a suggestion for a good dentist that actually wants my business? read more

Buford Family Dental / Dr. Jong Jeoung If I could give 0 stars out of 5 I would. I went to this office at or about December 2024 with persistent pain in an upper left tooth and specifically raised concern that I believed it might be cracked. I was told it was only inflammation from clenching and pressure from a missing tooth. Based on that diagnosis, I was two expensive devices - a custom-made night guard and a flexible partial denture and told this would resolve the problem over time. For months I followed all instructions exactly as given. The pain never fully resolved. The partial was not made correct, there was a large gap between the device and roof of my mouth; it never fit properly and caused food impaction, speech problems, and embarrassment from shifting and drooling. I repeatedly reported these issues and was told it only needed to "break in." When I later requested X-rays to take to a specialist because the pain continued, I was informed my dental membership plan had been canceled without my knowledge or consent. I was then denied access to my imaging and refused pain treatment. At that same visit, to replace the defective partial, I was pressured to switch to a cheaper metal partial even though Dr. Jeoung talked me into buying the more expensive plastic partial because it was, "better". I ultimately went to another dentist who found a severe vertical crack through the root of the tooth. The tooth was not salvageable and had to be extracted. I was told it could have been saved if treated earlier. After this, the Dr. Jeoung acknowledged in writing that "things did not go as planned" and offered to reimburse me, but only if I signed a full legal release. As of this writing, I have not been able to use either expensive device. read more

I used to recommend Buford Family Dentist highly--the dentists themselves are excellent. Unfortunately, since their new private equity ownership, the management has become extremely predatory with pricing. They now attempt to bill for services never rendered, and they provide estimates in the chair that later turn out to be wildly inaccurate. I understand insurance is complicated, but peace of mind is gone when a balance you thought was settled suddenly reappears as a huge new bill. For example, I paid several hundred dollars for a crown and was assured my balance was zeroed out. Months later, I received an additional bill for $1,700 more. This kind of surprise billing has become the norm, not the exception. If you value trust and transparency, I can no longer recommend Buford Family Dentist. Sadly, my advice is to stay away. read more

We've been going to this practice for several years. There has been a change in the dentists as well as frequently changing front desk staff over the past couple of years. On this recent visit, I was told my son needed 14 fillings. I took both my sons for a second opinion and that number was revised to TWO. I was also told that two of the fillings my other son received would need to be replaced well before their time and that they just barely meet the standard of care. Avoid this practice at all costs. It breaks my heart to think we've received barely passing and/or unnecessary work for the past few years. read more

I do not want to give this place even 1 star. I went to this place because I read their great reviews on Google but it was a huge mistake. I had an old cavity filling broke off and the dentist recommended to get the new one calls in-cap filling, which cost me over $1200 for one tooth, they didn't even do a root canal on me. With the same price I would of done a crown on top of it instead. It is a 'RIPOFF' and 'UNPROFESSIONAL' dentist place I had ever been to. Now I have an 'INFECTION' on the same tooth that they've worked on. I 'REGRETTED' of every second that I spent here at this place!!! read more

The staff is very kind and professional, the office is beautiful, however after visiting another dentist I was informed and shown a picture of some decay on a back molar that is not at all new. I was never informed about this severity of this decay at Buford Family Dental, I was just told to floss better. I also had some spots in between my side teeth that are clearly early decay, but was told at BFD that its just staining (that doesn't even make sense). Staining doesn't singularly concentrate in one tiny spot. I will NOT go back as I feel they were negligible in noticing, alerting, and treating the early stages of some issues that are now more serious (and costly). read more

I have been going to Buford Family Dental for the past 4 years for checkups and cleanings. I always feel welcome and treated like a valued client. But then we moved and I decided to give another "highly reviewed" dentist a try. Yes, the lobby/waiting area was a little fancier with nicer furniture and the dentists (a husband and wife team) had impressive pedigrees, but the appeal stopped the moment I sat down in the chair for an examination. I felt like a stranger and that I was distracting them from more important business. They talked with the hygienist behind my back (literally) as I could not see what they were looking at and I walked away feeling a lack of confidence in their ability to match the service I was used to. Buford Family Dental is transparent and takes time to both show on screen and explain in layman's terms, any dental concerns as well as recommended course of action to remedy the concern. All this is to say that I am back at Buford Family Dental. The confidence I have in both Dr Patel and Dr Kim as well as their staff is worth the drive for the service provided Buford Family Dental. Today I had a root canal on one tooth and a tooth extraction and bone graph (prep for a crown) on another tooth. 4 hours later, with the novocaine worn off, I sit with no pain and satisfied with a procedure done as well as any Endodontists or oral surgeon could have performed. I called on July 25 2024 to schedule a teeth cleaning appointment and to my surprise they had an appointment available for the next day July 26 2024 at 11:30, so I booked it. I was told that if filled out all of my information before I arrived for my appointment that it would expedite the process, so I did the night before. Then on the day of my appointment to get my teeth cleaned I was given a reminder notice and then then another asking if I would like to come in earlier because they had a cancellation. I said sure and was very excited about their prompt appointment, but then I get to the office and they're a gentleman sitting there and doesn't greet me or anything else. I was called back a few minutes later and they did the X-rays and examination and then the Dentist got up and said the gentleman would go over the prices with me and we'll go from there. I want you to decide you wanna do. I then asked the dental assistant, when was I gonna have my teeth cleaned and he stated oh not today. We don't have a hygienist today, I stated that I took off work today to have my teeth cleaned and now you're telling me that you don't have a hygienist today. No sir we don't, but I can go over the cost of things with from the examination. WTF, I make an appointment to have my teeth cleaned as I've stated several times in my message above and you wanna tell me about everything that you want to charge me for, but you can't do my routine cleaning that I scheduled the appointment for! Very unprofessional, I do not recommend this place. They tried to overcharge me the first time and gave my appointment to someone else for the second visit without giving me a call or any kind of confirmation. After I was there asking what happened the " office manager " offered me to email me my records. Not a very good representation of that company. Overall, the staff was nice and the office was nice, but I'm starting to wonder if I've been scammed. I've always been diligent about dentist checkups and have always gone every 6 months. I haven't had a cavity in about 20 years. When we moved from up north, I went to Buford Family Dental and they said I needed 7 fillings. Putting all my trust in them, I had the fillings done and now of course my insurance is denying the claim and said there isn't evidence I actually needed fillings. So I will need to pay out of pocket. I've tried reaching out to talk to someone at Buford Family Dental and of course no one returns my calls. Recently moved from New Jersey to GA and in the Buford Area. Went to Ravi Patel on a recommendation. Religiously visited my dentist every 6 months. I had an amazing dentist in NY and a very good dentist in NJ.When I moved it was about 6 months since my last visit, My experience. The Hygienist was great. Cleaned teeth well thorough examination. All the state of the art equipment from the cleaning tools to the high def imaging for xrays was nice. Enter Ravi Patel. Seems nice. If i were to guess I would say no more the 5 years out of dental school. came in and briefly looked at my mouth and then went straight to the films. says I have a broken filling and THIRTEEN cavities that all need fillings. !?!?!?!??! After not having a cavity since my teens and now being 42 I was shocked. He began immediately explaining but it kind of fell on deaf ears as I couldn't believe this was accurate. They set up an appt. to come back saying it would be 250 for the fillings.. OKAY not that bad.. Then was told that was one of 4 visits.. they don't do 13 at once. Their explanation of billing and cavities was insane. They were talking well over a 1000+ in work. The high tech xrays I were told were free.. no wonder.. I will pay with cavity work. I requested they sent me films because my NJ dentist would hear about this for sure !! I sent him the films and he said that he honestly wouldnt work on this.. they are something to keep an eye on at best.. maybe some small decay but not to drill on. Being I wasnt now trusting my NJ dentist I sent the films to my NY dentist who is HIGHLY reputable. He said he does see some decay but nothing worth drilling. He said the filling definitely needs to be replaced but that is all. Just keep an eye on the other stuff. When I called Ravi office back.. they wanted me to come in again so he can show and explain what he saw. That these dentists do not have the equipment that he has. I asked out of these how serious are they. Do i really need to get them worked.. the receptionist said they are all category 2 which means if i dont work them I will need multiple root canals which will cost a fortune. I wasnt buying it anymore !! Today I visited a dentist in Buford Dent1st dental care and after a thorough exam, films, and the dentist actually checking the my teeth with a metal hook and scraping the questionable areas GUESS WHAT ??? She said I have a few spots with decay.. nothing alarming but to floss and keep an eye on them. She did say I do have a filling that needs to be replaced . SO 3 dentists with the same report and one saying I have THIRTEEN cavities and over 1000+ worth of work. Also when she went to do films she said she couldn't do full mouth cause I did it 6 months ago .. Ravi Patel and hygienist said they would not be putting that against my insurance. I guess that s only if I did the 1000+ in dental work. MY REVIEW... GO ELSE WHERE. The pros - They give a way a water bottle with there log which broke after a day, chapstick, nice package with all types of trinkets. So if your looking to spend money and get a lot of unnecessary fillings and trinket handouts this is your place. AGAIN.. GO ELSEWHERE and if you don't go elsewhere.. Get a second opinion. After providing my insurance in advance and bing in the chair, Im given an estimate for my cleaning that is one of the most obsurd documents Ive ever seen ($1,000+). They then notify me they are not in my insurance network, which I again found very misleading and deceptive as I provided my documentation well in advance of the appointment. I said to them, "just to the normal cleaning and lets skip the $1,000+ estimated service", but was informed they couldnt do that. I informed them that the deceptive practice and lack of transparancy has made me very uncormfortable and I would be leaving immeidatly. There are other options within a one mile radius, I would consider them as options. I have not yet found a dentist for my family, but this will NOT be it. read more

Dr. Kim was attentive from the beginning. I expressed my concerns with my tooth and whether or not it was a good idea to either salvage it or take it out. He laid out the pros and cons of each, and eventually I decided to salvage it. Dr. Kim made sure the process was as painless and comfortable as possible. Dr Patel takes pride in his craft! Everyone was thorough, kind, and no lectures! They took extra care to be sure I was comfortable and understood the treatment plan. I had minimal discomfort on the cleaning and fillings. We took breaks as needed and they were not shy with anesthetic! They were also on point with verifying my insurance so I knew exactly what was covered and what my cost would be. I'm so happy with the work I had done and would gladly recommend Dr. Patel and Sharon (hygienist) to anyone seeking a dentist who genuinely cares about his/her patients! I went over a year ago after two years of not visiting a dentist. The hygienist was a little sloppy and got my cheek and shirt wet. They also said I needed 7 cavities to be taken care of and recommended a specialist see my root canal. I visited two other dentists for second opinions and took my X-rays and both said there was maybe one they would keep an eye on. read more

Liana Robles, was the BEST hygenist I ever had. My teeth felt the cleanest they've ever been. Dr. Patel was very nice and made sure I knew exactly what was going on. The office guy who handles the payments (forget his name), was a breath of fresh air. Their pricing was beyond resonable. I have been at this place for three times this year for teeth pain and spent a lot of money and time for teeth treatment. But it turns out all the time and money were spent in vain, and my teeth pain is even worse! Here is what happened today, I went to this place and wanted to get my pain tooth pulled out. Of course, before I lose my tooth, I asked the dentist (Dr. Kim) and the assistant a few questions to see the possible surgical options. You know what, the dentist (Dr. Kim) became uncomfortable and inpatient with my concern and he refused to do the tooth extraction. OMG, I can not image how a doctor could be so inpatient and unprofessional to his patient! I've waited for over an hour in his office this morning and he suddenly lost patience and refused to do his job simply because I have questions and concerns! BFD is an exceptional dentist office! Our entire family uses this practice. Dr. Patel and Sharon (my dental hygienist) are wonderful. They are quick to give me clear instructions, answer my questions/concerns, and I never feel like I am being offered a procedure I don't need. I recently had a cavity in a filling that needed to be fixed. It was quick and painless! BFD's office staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, easy to work with, and quick to return messages. I appreciate that they work with you to determine your insurance benefits, so that you know what you will be financially responsible for up front. Also, our five year old son asks to visit even when he doesn't have an appointment! I cannot recommend BFD enough! read more

The staff is very incompetent and don't know what their doing . My fiancé went here to have a tooth extracted on 9/12/2022 that had been causing him severe pain. They convinced him to keep the tooth and he allowed them to fill it . 2 days after the filling my fiancé began to experience excruciating pain on the side where the tooth had been filled and was told to come back in. At this appointment 9/15/2022 they did X-rays and told him he now had an abscess on the same tooth they had just filled and that it needed to be treated with antibiotics prior to them extracting the tooth. Once on the antibiotics and Ibuprofen his condition began to deteriorate rapidly. On day 4 of taking the medications the pain was unbearable in which he could barely speak. I called today 9/27/2022@ 3:45 pm and informed them on what was going on and how the pain was unbearable. They spoke to him and said they would send over some codeine to our pharmacy. I called the pharmacy 20 minutes after to make sure they received the prescription and was told no. I called back again and even drove to the pharmacy and they still said that the doctor NEVER sent anything over. I tried calling before their office closed @5pm to make sure they'd sent over the prescription because my Fiancé really needed it and they literally ignored the calls . I ended up having to take my fiancé to the ER. I guess they felt that he could endure the pain until this coming Thursday 9/29/2022 in which the teeth was scheduled to be extracted but tomorrow morning we will be canceling and contacting an Attorney. I believe they left some decay in his tooth and filled it knowingly, causing an severe infection to the point it became abscessed . All they care about is taking your money and not your health . They even had the nerve to refer him to one of their endodontist partners for a root canal ..... read more

Very young with no experience. I did root canal and after few months experience great pain in the same tooth . After revisiting office they took ex ray and consisted that his job was well done and nothing is wrong with it. I was in pain and they thought I'm asking for refund. All I was asking,was to get me out of pain not to start working on other teeth witch not hurting. I am not happy at all. Find experienced dentist. read more
