I scheduled new service 2 weeks in advance as we were closing on a new home, and many bugs felt like it was theirs. On the day of service, we were at the house waiting, didn't hear from anyone so I pulled up chat to confirm what time someone would be coming. The customer service person told me they moved our appt out 10 days because they didn't have someone that could come. They moved this without notification, so I asked them to cancel my service and told them their customer service was piss poor. Today, I got an email reminder about my service on the 23rd, so I called them to ensure I was cancelled. read more

Horrible company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They send out solicitations to their customers to give the technicians 5-star reviews through Google to help outweigh the negative reviews. They are a bunch of crooks. McNeely was the IDEAL pest control company. The second they got bought out and became Bug Out, they treated all their customers as a percentage and nothing more. I will edit this review if something changes. We have been using Mcneely Pest Control for years and years and absolutely loved them. Once the company sold to Bug Out, we have had countless issues. Our current technician, Shawn Moral, has been spraying our home for the last handful of services. They did a "reorganizing" of zones and we lost our old technician. Shawn would tell us to text him if we had issues, but we would never hear back. We had to go through new loop holes to schedule, which was fine. But after each spray, we noticed we were still having issues with bugs, ants, cockroaches sometimes, sliders, etc. It was just so odd that this started happening with the new technician. **The latest, and the worst, is when he came out yesterday and sat at the end of our driveway / on the road for 1 hour while it was pouring rain. I work from home and literally sit right by the front door. My golden retriever, who gets very excited for guests, was also sitting by the door the entire time waiting for him to get out of his car. I had to keep him calm because our toddler was sleeping. We didn't have a car in the driveway, so I assume he thought I wasn't home? But our door was wide open, our curtains were wide open, and he never once came up to the house. Probably because it was pouring rain and couldn't do the service. After an hour, he drove off. I assumed I would get a call to reschedule, but instead I received a $101 bill for the service being completed. I called customer service, which is an 800 number, and they told me they would put a ticket in. I then asked if we could go ahead and cancel our service and they said they couldn't help me with that. I then tried to cancel it on the new portal, but it's not an option. I then tried to remove our card, but it also wouldn't let me do that. This whole situation is just appalling, and it's shocking how this has gone from such a personable company to such an impersonal one. read more

Like so many others, I was a McNeely customer for years and was so pleased with their service. Bug Out does not seem to have any concern nor respect for customers. I received a recorded message yesterday saying someone would be here tomorrow between noon and 6 p.m. Guess we aren't supposed to have anything to do more important that getting their service. The only reason I gave a 1 rating was that the customer service person at their call center was really nice and apologized for not being able to do anything but note that I would like a shorter time frame for their visit. I was with McNeely for years, but they were sold to Bugout May 2023. I had an appointment for today. I was given a 4 hour window of 8-12. Technician hadn't shown up. After I called him, he stated he had a corporate call that pushed him back. I understand that, but no one called to say they were going to be late. This was the first time in a year that Bugout actually scheduled an appointment. They didn't ask what was convenient for me, but gave me a time. I had to call them to reschedule to today (8/12/24). Ever since Bugout bought McNeely, it's like the customer doesn't matter. I have given them a year. I don't get invoices, appointments, or other standard courtesies customers should require from customer service. This is NOT the type of service I pay for. read more

I had McNeely Pest Control previously and like others have had issues with this company since the switch. I scheduled someone to check a specific pest problem I was having and they did not solve the issue. I have heard small animal noises in my crawl space and instead of targeting the area where the issue was, the pest guy put bait and traps on the other side of my basement. He then recommended I schedule a wildlife person from the company because he said it was not a mouse. The wildlife guy found the point of entry and the droppings that showed it was a mouse, something the pest guy should have found. I still have mice in my basement that I now have to take care of myself apparently. Additionally, neither service people called to let me know they were on their way and one was an hour earlier than the scheduled time. read more

I had bug out treat my house because mckneely was always a great company. It was the biggest mistake I could imagine making. I left them alone in my house and I came home to scratches and holes all over every wall in my house. He had left greasy hand prints on the walls and fabrics all over my house. I found trash from his lunch thrown on my floor. A Gatorade bottle from my fridge empty thrown in my closet. There is absolutely no excuse for any of this. I immediately contacted the supervisor and sent pictures. He told me he'd submit it to insurance like he was doing me a favor. There is close to 8000 dollars of damage. I asked for the labor charge to be taken off, that was too much to ask and it wasn't done. So then I asked for the payment to be pushed until the insurance was settled. I was told in writing that would be done. I got a late notice. So that wasn't done either. It's been over two months and I'm still fighting with their insurance. This is the most upsetting and frustrating thing I've ever had to deal with. Please spend your money with a company that actually cares about their customers. I work with the public and I can't imagine destroying someone's property, much less their entire house and doing absolutely nothing for them. read more

Users should be aware that any reviews posted here prior to spring 2023 are for McNeely Pest Control, which was a well-respected locally-owned company for many years. It appears that McNeely may have sold all of their accounts to BugOut in spring of 2023 and I became a BugOut customer at that point. There was no notification of the switch so when I got a voicemail message from BugOut in May 2023 I ignored it thinking it was a wrong number. They came out in May anyway even though I did not confirm my appointment. I didn't know anyone had been to my home and when I saw a charge from BugOut on my credit card statement I called and learned I was now their customer. I continued to have problems with pests so I asked for a follow up visit and never received a call back. The bugs have been much worse than they've been at any point since I started my pest control contract so I have to wonder what was actually done. I just learned that they visited my home again in early August 2023 even though I didn't get a call to confirm (it appears they don't have the capability to notify customers via text message). Again, I needed to speak to the technician about a couple of areas that need attention so I called BugOut back and asked for a follow up visit. They won't be able to get to me until next week, which is disappointing since I have wasps on my porch and need to make sure my house is safe for company coming. Most of all, I miss the personal service from McNeely. I could call their office any time during business hours and get a quick response. Now I have to go through what sounds like a call center. Two weeks after installation two termite traps floated out of the ground. Several others are not flush with the ground. The ones along the elevated screen porch are not under the porch near the house but were installed about 15 ft from the house in the grass. Prevents arrerating & seeding of grass. After a call requesting a supervisor to return my call, no response. I drove to the Winston-Salem office but the sign on the door states it is closed to customers. It gives the same number that I've already called. I called again 4 days ago & the person who answered the phone apologized & would elevate the importance of my call. Well, yep, no call yet. In addition, all calls to to the other side of the state. You cannot call the local office & they 'dispatch' s message to the local office to contact you. Well, that's not worked out well. I was very disappointed with the outcome of the $200 service. I contracted with McNeely to get rid of the millipedes which were infesting my basement. First service was provided July 7, 2021. Two weeks later the infestation was no better. I called McNeely and was contacted by the service technician who said he would come out again. I assume he did although I did not see him. Meanwhile I talked with neighbors and friends ~ all of whom were reporting a similar millipede infestation but they were simply vacuuming them up and had not engaged a pest control company. Weeks went on and my situation was no better than theirs. Finally, August 20th was the first day I saw no more millipedes in my basement ~ and neighbors were also reporting that their infestation was almost over also. So, I feel like I got nothing for the $200 invoice I received. The millipede infestation stopped when it stopped ~ for all of us. A deplorable company. Since Bug Out purchased our local affiliate McNeely Pest control, we have had nothing but issues. We, like so many others who have taken the time to review, cancelled our service in early 2023. We just received a notification from a collections agency (GB Collects). I called Bug Out and they confirmed that they have no record of service or any outstanding invoices in their system and advised that I call GB Collects. GB informed me that they have no records on file of service or invoices either, but that they simply work on a contingency with Bug Out to attempt to collect payments for a commission. The transparency in the deception of this practice is egregious. BUYER BEWARE! RUN FROM THIS COMPANY. (One Star only because I had to. Also, check out the Bug Out homepage.... Showed up on the wrong day than the date I was given and did THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in damages to my personal property not to mention damages to my apartment. The guy Charles over the crew said he would take personal responsibility for my stuff and making sure nothing was damaged. I've called the office and they say they wont talk to tenants only landlords but the landlord says to talk to them. Now the office is saying that they have no record of being here. Charles admitted after I finally got in touch with him that he did say he took responsibility and I sent him photos of the personal property damage. Now he wont talk to me either. I have recordings of the phone call I had with Charles about the damages and I have witnesses to what he said about taking responsibility. I have contacted an attorney about this since they wont replace what they damaged. I do not recommend using them. read more

They were treating a neighbors house and we had some issue with something so our neighbor asked the man that was their if he could stop by just to see if it was something worth calling in. He did and gave us the advice to call so someone trained in that area could come out. So we called and someone came within a week. The next day they came to treat our home and we have a year guarantee. They worked with us on a payments. We are now using them to come treat once a quarter outside and inside as a preventative feature. read more

This is an absolutely professional organization that is wholy devoted to customer satisfaction. We have used their services for years and are always happy with their prompt and courteous service. Our personal technician, Derek, is a fine gentleman who knows his craft and is welcomed into our home for monthly pest control treatments. If there are any new issues which come to his attention, he explains in detail how his company will handle the issue and everything is always done perfectly. We find their pricing fair and the quality of the service fantastic. We have used other agencies in the past but have no intention of ever switching from McNeely Pest Control. After a very disappointing experience with my first pest control service (chosen because at the time they were located very close to downtown), I took the good advice of friends who own a local restaurant and contracted with McNeely Pest Control. These folks are fantastic. Every team member I've dealt with has been friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and responsive. I have two kinds of service from McNeely: pest control (bugs, spiders, ants, etc.) both inside and around the outside of my house; and Sentricon termite prevention monitoring. (My house was built in 1905, and there's a lot of tempting wood in it.) They are thorough in treating my home top to bottom and also around the perimeter of the structure. They also take the time to sweep away spider webs and such outside the house. They even helped me out in disposing of a possum I'd trapped, just because they happened to be there for one of the usual treatment visits. Now, I do not think they are the cheapest, but they are also not high-dollar. In this world, I'm pretty convinced you get what you pay for. And if you're willing to pay for a year's service, you do get a break on the pricing. I've got no complaints on these folks, and I definitely recommend them. read more

They are friendly and attentive over the phone. They are organized. They meet or beat the prices of all the other mosquito guys in town. The technician showed up early, on time, was super friendly, and took care of business. I've used 3 other companies in the area for the same thing, and these guys win. I had a bird problem in my vent and hired them to clear out birds and nest from the vent. They did a good job with clearing out the birds etc and applying bird guards but they removed the vent covers themselves as they were brittle from years of sunlight and didn't put a new ones back in like I first thought they would. They said they can't do it because of the mortar and brick. Now this leaves me with a new problem: wasps are getting in through the bird guards into the open vents to build nest inside. If they knew they were not going to replace the vent cover, they shouldn't have pulled off the bits and pieces of the existing one...I have to now search for someone else to do this job! read more

Dishonest business practice. I discontinued our account with McNeely in January because they didn't do what they said they would. We still had bugs, ants, wasps, spiders, etc... They called me back in April and I, reluctantly, gave them another shot. I then received a bill from services from January-April (that I did not have) and they claimed I owed them more than $100. We started using McNeely's last spring. We have discontinued our service after the last service in December which was never finished. The technician was not even sure his chemicals would work because he left them in the truck and they froze overnight. It was raining so the tech said he would come back and treat the outside. I foolishly bought a used refrigerator about 12 months ago. About a month after I purchased the refrigerator my kids started telling me they saw bugs in the house. And then one morning I walked in the kitchen and I saw it. I had a contract with McNeely for over a year. I called and let them know we saw roaches. McNeely assured me they could get rid of them. They've been totally ineffective in fighting the infestation. I was told they would come weekly. Sometimes they show up, mostly they don't. Or they are in and out in a couple minutes. This morning I got up to make coffee and the coffee maker has turning into a maternity ward for baby roaches. read more

We are not satisfied at all with McNeely Pest Control. We were treated for Bed Bugs. We had a one month guarantee, which in my mind was a joke. I expressed my opinion and they said they it is what they do. Well, now I know why! About a week after the month guarantee expired, my daughter was getting bit. We couldn't find the bugs, but I knew it was bedbugs. About a week later my son found one on his bed! I was DEVASTATED!! DEVASTATED!! We just paid SOOOO MUCH MONEY for these bugs to go away. We inspected the bedroom, which in turn made me even ANGRIER because of WHERE we found the bugs. WE found them on my daughters curtains. We were told to leave the curtains as they were. To not take them down. That they would take care of the curtains. Well, they obviously DID NOT! Then we found them on the bed that we were told they would take all apart and they did NOT! The bed is a metal bed frame and there are little holes in the frame every where. In which I cannot tell if there are bugs in there or not, but we found many bugs hanging out by the holes. Which I am livid about, because we were told they were going to take all the bed frames apart and really do a number on them. Well, they didn't take ANY bed frame apart and now there are still bugs in them. I am also very upset about the dog inspection. I asked specifically for the dog to spend a little more time on the areas that I knew had bugs. They did NOT. The dog walked into a room and within seconds was OUT of the room. The dog did not even go anywhere close to my daughter's curtains or the bed that was in question. We asked him to spend more time on the Air Mattress and NOTHING. He just walked over it and went on his day. We asked the dog to really sniff out the couch and nothing. We paid for that dog to come to our home and I am pretty sure it didn't do it's job. There is no way that withing a couple weeks of everything that we brought in bed bugs from somewhere else. We found every part of the life cycle. Which means, McNeely did NOT do it's job. BUT the part that I am MOST MAD ABOUT..is that they are NOT GETTING BACK TO US AT ALL! They have ghosted us and will not take our calls. Will not return texts. she responded ONE TIME, the initial inquiry that we are out of the guarantee, we did the dog inspection and there is nothing she can do. She said she would pass out name and number to her supervisor. It has now been TWO WEEKS and we have not heard ANYTHING from them all ALL!! They took our MONEY and RAN! And now are not helping us ONE BIT! I would NOT USE MCNEELY for BedBug removal at all. The person who came to do the initial walk through to tell us everything that we needed to do told us things that they people who did the actual work had no idea why she would say that we had to do those things. There is just a lot of disconnect. And then once they are done and the month guarantee is over they drop you and never talk to you again, when you say you have bed bugs a couple weeks after everything is said and done. They also do not accept any sort of payment plan. My husband lost his job in the midst of all of this and they in no way wanted to work with us. They said, oh well, pay up. We were still willing to pay, we just wanted to do it in monthly payments and they did not want to work with us. We are not happy at all. read more

They really are as good as it gets. I've been using their services for almost 2 years now but what prompts my review now is how awesome and professional our tech Alex is. Not only does he know all the critters and put our family at ease, he is growing with our expanding family - knows our dogs and kids by name. Just last week he explained his process to my inquisitive 2 year old, let her follow him around and even did shadow puppets for her with his flash light!! I've never used any other Pest Control services, just happened upon McNeely by googling when I had a mouse problem. They have been wonderful! Mouse problem solved after the first visit and I've continued with quarterly servicing which includes bait boxes, insect spraying and they even knock down spider webs and bee nests outside the house.
