Celebrations of any kind - no matter how old you are....no matter how big or small you are, BABW is definitely the place to go. We have seen many versions of stores and their offerings over the years, and this location at Lakeline Mall, though it was an older format, brought back some seriously fond memories when the business was younger (and so were we). The staff at the store is true to heart - keeping the experience as perfect as possible. Whether you are looking for a new friend to call your own, or just some accessories, the staff will always make you feel welcomed and able to find what you need. The prices at the time we went were good and there were even some sales on friends at the time. We brought our grandson to get his birthday bear and the "pay your age" concept keeps the window open for other things to be added easily. I love how this store still keeps the refreshes going along with the change of the promotions. I do wish it was a little brighter and not as depressing looking compared to other stores, but also to keep the business more enticing to go to. read more

My grandson did the pay your age birthday bear. He also got four shirts and a cowboy hat, because ya can't build your first bear in Texas without that bear getting a texas shirt and cowboy hat. It was nice to see my daughter go a little crazy in a store. My grandson built his bear and participated in the heart ceremony for the first time. He was too young to understand it before. The employees are awesome! They were even great about fattening the bear up a little more before we went downstairs for dinner. read more

Walking into the Build-A-Bear store is always so exciting. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They really care about the child and their experience there. The process is to choose a stuffed animal, then pick a sound machine to put in its paw walk over to the stuffing machine pick out a heart and the employees have the child make a couple of cute wishes on the heart before they put it in their animal to be stuffed. After stuffing their animal they take it to the grooming area where they can brush their new stuffed animal. Then, they go and pick out clothes and shoes and accessories. The final thing is to type up a birth certificate with the name for your newly born best friend. I've ever gone to the store with always leaves very happy with big smiles. read more

It's been a while since I've walked into a build a bear but I was looking for a parting gift to give my nanny kids. They are moving to another state and I wanted to give them something they could snuggle with from me. I'm so glad we came in here early on a Monday morning. We were there As they opened their doors and had a really easy experience picking out the animals they wanted. The employee (Carlos) was so wonderful with my 2 year old. She is a little shy around new people and she warmed up quickly and helped "stuff" her frog. I found a quiet corner to record in a soundbox to put in the stuffed animals and it had no background noise which I loved. I also loved that there was no pressured up selling, we were offered help with shopping if we needed it, and the music was an appropriate volume for children and people to speak in the store. 10/10 will come back here next time I have to do another gift like this. read more

I remember when I went here because my mom took me because I was sad due to the fact that I was sick during Valentine's Day and couldn't go to school and in elementary school every year we would exchange Valentine's Day cards but the stupid janitors threw mine away (dusty trolls) and in order to make me happy my mom took me to BABW. Anyways, chose to get "Bunny Big Ears" as my choice (AKA Pawlette). I recorded my own audio to slap into her paw and everything. I was a stupid child and couldn't think of a name for her, so I just named her "Bunny". The audio stopped working within a month though, not because the audio box was faulty but because my annoying cousins kept pressing the button and playing the audio, which caused the battery to stop working, which I'm still mad about even though it was like 18 years ago. Here's another short story just because: Years ago when the Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel came out, they sold plushies of the characters here. I bought every single last one of those mfs. When I went to see the movie on opening day, I went to that theater, with my bag on my hip and my plushies inside and I walked into that establishment like I owned the place. Everybody's eyes were on my bag because they knew I was ready to see The Squeakquel and they knew that I meant business. read more

Never been in a build a bear before. Was trying to make a remembrance bear for a pet that has recently passed away and the girl I spoke to at this location had an absolutely horrible attitude. I wish I got her name but was honestly so upset and left the store crying. For a company known for remembrance bears and "having fun" you'd think the employees would at least smile when speaking to you. read more

Was asked by an employee to not show up again after they were ranting about an abusive boyfriend, offered a place in case (been through a similar situation, that can be tough), got asked to leave and not show up when she was there as I apparently made her uncomfortable. This was a couple years ago, thought Yelp deserves to know that I was insulted by this event. Have built a bear there over the years, I've always lived in Austin and often visited the mall. I always like going to a place that interacts with my child like he is a kid not an alien. The staff are so patient and great with kids. We went there to stuff a Christmas gift for my son. They have a nice selection of outfits for your furry friend. The only complaint that I have is that the wash station does not work. Which left my little one wondering what was wrong. Having a birthday party here is an okay proposition. Your total price is however much you choose to spend on the party guests, so you can go anywhere from $10 to sky's-the-limit per guest. They do some cute stuff that makes the birthday girl feel special, like have all the guests pick out a little heart to go in her special bear. Really, though, the lack of a room to have birthday cake in is a big problem. The kids get so worked up at the party, when you head over to the food court they're boisterous and happy and loud and really tend to piss off the emo teens at the adjacent tables. So the pros are a flexible cost, the fact that a party favor is built in, and a solid hour's worth of entertainment. The con is that there's no place to do cake and presents in the store, so you have to haul all that stuff halfway across the mall and get the stinkeye from people sitting nearby. read more

I was having difficulty signing up for the Stuff for Stuff account online, so I called this store and Shawn answered within a few seconds. He was very kind and helpful in setting up an account for me over the phone, and when I mentioned I had made an online purchase the other day, he gave me the number to call to see about having those points retroactively added to my new account. When I called, they were just as kind and considerate as he was! I felt it necessary to write this review because at most places - especially in a mall setting - customer service associates are so quick to rush you off of the phone due to the in-store customer demand and I never had the feeling with Shawn. Took my daughter here yesterday ! We were meet by Employee sarah who felt the need parent my child ! When my daughter was read to fill her stuffed animals she rudely told her no she had to go to the sound station first - my daughter replied i don't want a sound then i can't sleep the women then directed other children there ( idk if this is a sick way to upsell by making the think its a must do part of the process but her attitude sucked) - now kids in a kid store are excited and high energy !!! and she preceded to correct my sons behavior who is HIGH energy but wasn't hurting anyone ! or anything ! - then we get to where my daughter wants to pay and again meet at the registers by employee sarah where she then! says umm did you do your certificate my daughter says no thank you it's a waste of paper for me - the women then goes to berade my daughter and i had to step in and support her by saying she just said she didn't want it and she is ready to check out. now at this point i'm starting to loose my patience we're did the gift card upsell yadda yadda - then she mentions a check list for new pokemon stuffed animals coming my daughter is excited and reaches out and asks to see it the employee then snaps at my daughter says your getting ahold of urself relax in a tone that was unnecessary! and that's when my patience goes out the window ! i gave her my mom look and my tone of excuse me ! - we're done here - i will be calling them store today now that i'm calmer but we will never return to this location! read more

It tends to be expensive. Truthfully, you can go in there and stuff a bear for 10 dollars, but with all of the cute outfits and sounds and this and that, spending $50 on a stuffed animal might seem normal. It is another place that kids just love. My daughter went to a birthday party there and I was really not looking forward to it. They did such a good job of keeping the kids focused and happy about their $10 bears, that I now think a party there is much cheaper than having one at home and there is no clean up! The only thing it lacks is birthday cake, you'll have to do that at the food court. read more

The store's pretty cramped for a b-day party, but the staff is good at wrangling them and keeping the kids occupied, plus parties get a separate line for stuffing the bears. Like buying a used car but higher pressure selling and a bigger ripoff. Let's be clear: YOU ARE WALKING OUT WITH A STUFFED ANIMAL. But the process and the accessories and add-ons and all of the up selling makes it feel like you are running a used car dealership gauntlet. The kids have more fun but it is an endless series of having to say "no" to avoid walking out with a $350 stuffed toy. I saw online from friends and Facebook that she would get a hat, a card, and it would be a special event. we went in and were not greeted when we walked in, had to get the attention of the employee. we waited at the counter, then walked around till he finally said "do you need anything?".he filled my daughters bear and then just checked us out. he didnt give her the hat, the card, or a box for her bear. he was very rude and seemed pissed that we were only paying $1 for the bear and not buying anything else. so as were walking out I told my husband that he didnt do anything that he was suppose to. so he went back in and had to wait just to have to explain to them about the birthday stuff, he had to go online since they had no idea what he was talking about. then they rudely gave him the hat and a sloppy sticker. they didnt make her day special at all. all we were to them was a burden. so thanks so much for that. it was her 1st birthday wave been looking forward to this for a long time just to be let down read more

I came here for the toothless dragon and Kelly and Sean made me feel like I was part of the family. Kelly is a sweet employee and is very knowledgeable of the product, I told her a story about my daughter and I could tell she cared about what I had to say. When I went to check I was greeted by Sean or Shawn ( not to sure how it was spelled) he is also very nice and a master of his craft. I just recently bought a jumbo stuffed dog for my best friend's birthday, and then I thought to myself "it looks like it needs clothes." I called in, and Taylor was super friendly over the phone and offered to see if they could help out. I came into the store, and they recognized me (of course carrying a big stuffed dog is a big give away). Wanda and Taylor were incredibly awesome at putting together something for me, and I'm really happy with my choice to stop by this Build-a-Bear location. If I could give this store a negative star rating, I would. We took our 3 year old nephew/godson in to build a bear. We walked in, and never got greeted. First thing that caught his eye was the red button on the stuffing machine. It is child height. He pushed it, and the machine turned off. There is a way to turn it back on, it wasn't broken. The manager walked up and made hand gestures behind our backs not knowing that the baby's mom was next to her. I told her to show us what to do because we wanted to build a bear. Then she told us he could have messed up the machine and it is expensive. My husband and I were livid. First of all assuming that we are broke. Second of all scolding our little one. When you run a shop that is made for children, you definitely need to know how to interact with parents. Plus, if the machine is so delicate, why was it left unattended for a long period of time in a store full of little people. I stood with him looking at the machine spin the stuffing, an the button was right there. Children are inquisitive, he said what does this do? All she had to do was turn it back on, which she did. We ended up leaving, and going to the Lego Store. That was an awesome experience for our little one! The employees were friendly and the store was child friendly. We also bought a dinosaur at a kiosk on the way out of the mall, and that was a great experience. Our baby picked out a dinosaur, and the employee was awesome. She gave him a big hug and he left with a big smile. That is worth all of the money in the world to us. Bottom line, don't take your child to build a bear if you want them to have a fun experience. It was terrible, and we won't go back. By the way, the employee that "helped" us was the manager Sarah. I guess they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for management these days. read more

I called around for the Poppy from Trolls. The associates assured me that if I ordered by Monday the 19th I would have it in by Christmas. I went in to pay for the item on Sunday the 18th. I went to check the tracking and to my surprise it is estimated to be delivered on the 27th! Called the store, they referred me to the 800 #. Call the number and any complaint or call HAS to be done online! Submitted my concern online and received an email saying they should respond within 72 hours! Too bad Santa is expected to come before then! The closest store that has this item over 70 miles from me. I decided I would make the drive and purchase it. (and not with store credit that someone has helped me with, I'll have to return the one I receive AFTER Christmas once I get it.) So to ensure that the store still has the item before I make the hour+ drive I wanted to pay for it ahead. You cannot make a purchase over the phone withOUT an E gift card. Purchased one 3 hours ago and have YET to receive what I need in my email and of course no one can help! I would have just be done with this is they wouldn't have ensured me that I'd receive the other one by mail in time. I would have just made that drive Sunday! read more
