I'll admit it-- I'm a grown adult over thirty that loves going to B-A-B. So when I saw one while cruising the mall, we had to duck inside to see what cute critters they had available. Sometimes I buy online but I gotta say that the experience of picking out the perfect one and getting it stuffed on site makes it extra special. I found a rainbow unicorn I liked and spent awhile digging through the bin to find my favorite color pattern. The associates were ultra friendly and obviously share my love for soft friends into adulthood (it's nice to not be judged but rather embraced for that). They were all fun to talk to. I also found an adorable saddle/bridle on discount for half off to go with it and the cashier even put it on for me. I chose to decline a bag so I could cuddle it while we walked around the mall (and made several little girls jealous in the process-- whoops lol!). read more

This was our last stop in my daughter's 8th birthday celebration. We were met at the door by Brionna who introduced us to our hostesess, Maddie and Rose. My daughter has been to BAB before but the other kids have never been. The excitement was unreal. Every staff person that we talked with or seen that day was polite and courteous. The staff took amazing care of us. Oliver stopped by and spoke to us and helped us out as well. Since everyone was so kind, I had to get a pic with all the staff, except for one. She was in the back...LOL They were all shocked. I said I needed everybody. It made a great pic. Athena was our hero at the Opry Mills store tonight. On 11/22/10 at 5:30 pm. We purchased a Pastel Swrl kitty. My daughter has been separated from our sweet Daisy for over 6 week and we are getting to visit her Tomorrow ( just grand parents. Sadly not her mom). Building the bear was very emotional for us as we are missing her so much. Athena handled every part with such grace. She knew just the right words to say to my daughter to help her decide what the speaker would say. ( we now our Daisy will be comforted by these words each night: and Stars presence). She made heart felt suggestions for our heart and as we kissed the heart and put it inside we all cried. Athena was there with Kleenex and distractions about how these wonderful bears, kitty's, animals ect help children who are in emotional distress. Also the parents or givers. Just the greatest employee ever. We will never forget her. We took home star the kitty and Bambi the snow magic glisten reindeer for her cousin. I wish there was a way to let Athena know what a difference she made in our lives tonight and the comfort she gave us. Just thank you. read more

My wife and children went to Opry today to treat our children to new build a bears. From the start of the visit the staff was unpleasant and seemed as if they were annoyed that they had to do their jobs. One lady in particular was especially rude and did not even allow our children to participate in the building process( which is the whole point of the store). I am very very disappointed with this experience. We will not be returning to this location, nor any other that does not put the children's experience at the top of their priority list. read more

Came here 2 weeks ago...on a Saturday, checked the website and called the store to confirm hours prior to coming that morning. Website and recording said they opened at 11. Got there around 11:15 and they were not opened. I called the store number again and corporate...corporate looked and called and said they should be open, sorry they weren't. Walked by a few times over the next couple hours...quite a few other families were just as disappointed as I was...this was the first time I was brining my son to Build a Bear and he was so excited. So I took my son to lunch instead and when I was walking back to leave saw 3 employees standing outside waiting. I asked them if they were going to be open. They said they were hoping to be and there was miscommunication who was to open and they were waiting for another person to come and open the store. They ended up opening around 2:15. Really over 3 hours late is insane. The experience at the store was good...the girl stuffing the animals was awesome...with the heart and all her little sayings, my son loved it! Then I went to check out and the mall had a coupon for $10 off for Build a Bear so when I went to check out (btw we decided to do 2 animals with scents and outfits so close to $100) I mentioned the coupon and brought it up on my phone...without even looking she was said...uh what coupon cause if it's a Groupon we can't take it. I explained it wasn't a Groupon but a special I saw from the mall website that morning and she said well I'm not familiar with that. I was like really?! This was one of the same girls that knew we had been there waiting for 3 hours and when I'm about to check out she's giving me an issue and attitude without even looking at it?! She finally looked at it and said she could take it but honestly it was such an unnecessary way to end my experience. The store was immediately at capacity when we got there also so I can't even imagine how much money was lost in the first 3 hours because of the miscommunication. I'll be back because my son loves his bear and cat but the customer service here with opening late and then checking out was pretty ridiculous. If it wasn't for the product and the one sweet girl making it a wonderful experience it would be zero stars. read more

My husband and I, and our newly adopted 3 year old daughter names Lizzie came in about 2 months ago now. I guess the manager on duty at the time named Stephanie would not stop going on about her son. When we were trying to pick out our daughters bear. She was really annoying and not let us choose in peace. Anyways, we ended up getting a rainbow bear with the lollipop scent in it. During your child's birthday month if you take them in, you can get a seven dollar birthday bear. We decided to take advantage of this because we love build a Bear. The staff at the Opry mills build a bear is absolutely wonderful! They are personable, great with children, and made our experience very special! My daughter left with a HUGE smile on her face! Build-A-Bear is a fun place for kids to experience the start to finish process of getting to make a stuffed animal for themselves. For some reason this seems really backwards to me. It feel like I should be hearing my grandparents talk about how back in their day they couldn't just buy a bear, but they had to make it by hand. Whatever the case may be, my daughter has a bear from here, and it even has a voice box in the paw you can squeeze to make it talk. The only bad side is that the voice box is sewn in, making it impossible to change the recorded message, or the batteries for that matter. read more

I went into this store a few weeks back. We went in for the Lightfury which they were sold out of. The lady then showed us the baby ones. There were three different ones and we picked out 3 sets. When we got to the register we were told we could only buy 2 of each individual one per person. When I pointed out there were 4 of us there and we were only purchasing 3 of each one she then said it was per family. My boys were super disappointed when I made them put them back (since it wouldn't be fair in the end). I wrote the company that night and they said it was per person and I never got a reply back as to why I was not able to purchase these. They are sold out online and I feel horrible they are disappointed. I don't understand why I was not able to purchase these in store. That was a over $90 sale you missed out on (we had other items we were purchasing and put back). We drive from about 30 minutes away to this mall to shop at The Lego Store, Disney, Build A Bear, and eat at some of the places we can't find elsewhere. Occasionally we catch a movie at Imax. I don't think we will be visiting Build A Bear again. I had talked the boys into going in to show them the dragons and they left upset and disappointed. If I had known we would've never walked in the store that day. Changing your mind after you say something is bad business and even worse when the email from corporate that you receive says per person as well. I thought the irritation would pass but it still bugs me so I decided to write a review. Mainly because it bothered my boys but also because it seems they just didn't want to make the sale. We have many of your build a bear animals and I had just shopped the sale on site and ordered a couple things the week before. I don't feel like I was ever given a reason we weren't sold the ones we wanted by corporate and I really don't think I will ever enter this store again unless I am asked (unless I am given a proper answer about this or it is resolved). You lost a customer that would've come to your store many many times and spent money. read more
