Good old build a bear. This has been inside of Lynnhaven Mall for several years just moved around a bit due to renovations. My children love coming here to create new friends. I came on a day where they were running a $5.50 on select bears for national hug day. My son is 6 months old and I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to get him his very first build a bear. I learned from their last deal that this place can get wildly packed and busy. We luckily made it with no line to enter. I was hopeful for a speedy trip but that's when the two lines, one for stuffing, the other for paying, caught my eyes. My oh my do people love some build a bears. Still, I really wanted this for my son and we had already taken the troops out in the rain so I wasn't going to leave now. The staff member who greeted up was friendly and helpful. I think she saw the overwhelming look on my face. She helped me get an already stuffed animal. I really wanted the whole experience but to wait in the long line to stuff and then hop in the other long line to pay just seemed unrealistic at the time. I chose to tackle just one line and not two. Everything in the store is neat and placed in order. However the store just seems cramped. And when deals like this come along, forget it, you will be touching elbows with strangers. The store became extremely hot and so the manager turned off some of the lights. We were now waiting in line in a dimmed setting. It didn't bother me, just seemed like maybe they could prepare a bit better before running such great deals. Everyone in line was patient and friendly. And so although it took over half an hour, we were pleased with our visit and will continue to use build a bear as our custom stuffed animal shop.

Took my 5 year old here today for his first time and he was too excited. It is Valentine's Day weekend, so like I expected, the store was a a little busy. We arrived about 10-15 minutes after the store opened. We received a cheerful greeting from Tommy. He was super nice and explained to us how the build a bear process works. The store is brightly decorated, neat, and easy to navigate. It was nice to see hand sanitizer located throughout store. My son had a wonderful time picking out accessories for his Pikachu. We will definitely be back again sometime in the near future. Thanks also to Kiwi for helping us stuff Pikachu and Vanessa for being so nice at the checkout. Great job Build A Bear!

Build A Bear is "Where Best Friends are Made" and is "The Most Fun You'll Ever Make." They provide good quality stuffed animals as well as spread happiness to people of all ages. It was so heartwarming to have the experience of seeing both adults and children get excited to pick out and create their very own stuffed companion. I am really in love with this place. It made me feel like I was a child again. I've had dealings with this Build A Bear location online, over the phone, and in person and customer service has never been less than excellent. The employees here really care about providing the best help possible. Make sure you ask for Stacey because she is the best. Aj and Alex were also very helpful. All in all I am very happy with my exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog decked out with exclusive clothing accessories, an exclusive stuffed gold ring, an exclusive "Special Stage" sound chip from "Sonic the Hedgehog 3", and an exclusive 13" Tails "Miles" Prower companion. I also bought another seperate set as a gift for my 1 year old niece and she loves her as well. This place is awesome!

We came here on a Saturday afternoon. Our son wanted to have a dog made. The employees were very nice and helpful. There is a huge collection of animals to choose from. They make it very special for your little one by choosing a heart to put into the animal. For an extra fee, you can choose a scent to put inside. They proceed to stuff the animal and then you can print out a birth certificate. When you pay, you receive a box to put it inside that your little one can color when you get home. The only complaint I have is that there was a huge line to get it stuffed. I didn't understand why it was so busy; I later was told there was a "pay your age" week last week and they had to turn away people. Many people had vouchers to use. The wait was about 45-50 min. This is a great place to take your child(ten) to get them something special.

Build-A-Bear is sooo cute. I made my husband build me one of these when we first moved here and I had never had one made before. It's such a cute experience to go in and pick your bear and their little clothes and shoes and accessories. When they stuff him/her you get to rub their little heart and kiss it for love and dance to make it happy and fun and they put it inside the bear while they sew it up. it's adorable to me and I'm 30! So I can only imagine how fantastic it must be for a little kid. It's an adorable experience and I like to sometimes go in and look at the new bears you can build and pick out their outfits. If you build one not only do you get to stuff it and dress it and add it's little heart you can make it a birth certificate where you name it. They get specific outfits for the holidays. They have some costumes now for Halloween and they usually get some Valentine's stuff, Christmas, Saint Patrick's Day, Easter, etc. Pretty much any major holiday they have it. Right now they have My Little Pony and Hello Kitty as speciality stuff which is cute. For Halloween they seem to have Star Wars and have a really freakin' cute Yoda bear I saw and took some photos of. Too cute. The gals working inside are very friendly and sweet for the most part. Adorable for adults who like teddy bears and for probably every little kid on planet Earth. They aren't cheap - but they aren't that expensive either. You can get a teddy bear for about $10-15 and the outfits are about $16 or so on average for the set. You can add little voice boxes and smells to their tummys and they are around $5-10 also. Depends on how in-depth you want to go but probably for a really tricked out teddy you're talking $50 which, for a custom gift for someone you love, I don't think that's too much.

Build-A-Bear Workshop always and consistently deliver top notch customer service, good selection of inventory, clean store, and following COVID regulations. This Build-A-Bear is perfect and centrally located inside Lynnhaven Mall. They manage the capacity and flow of their store very well as it is not a big store. They ensure everyone is practicing social distancing with markings on the floor and staff members building you through the store. They have a huge selection of stuffed animals and accessories of all kind. It's hard for adults not to get giddy in the store along with kids. They are staffed well. The staff really get into character with how the stuff the animals and packaging the stuffed animals with care. My kids always have such a wonderful experience in this store.

It's not often I write reviews, but my experience today really stood out at Build-a-Bear in Lynnhaven Mall and I would like to share a bit about it. I came into the store today with my son (he's 2.5) to build Daddy a bear and to find a new animal for the little man. Upon walking in, I was warmly greeted by the lady at the counter who explained how the process worked - I didn't get her name, unfortunately, but I'm sure she remembers us. I want to say thank you, and I'm sorry for spraying stuffing all over you. Despite the fact it startled my little guy into tears (he was tired), it was the highlight of this trip because it was the moment my heart felt the lightest. A little humor never hurt anyone. The mall was packed, and this store was no exception. Very crowded and hot, but that is to be expected around Christmas time. Make sure you allot ample time to make your creations as these stuffed toys make excellent personalized gifts. If you're complaining of "how long does it really take to stuff an animal" - you're missing the point. Go buy one that's stuffed already if that's all you want. This brings me to the most humbling part of the trip. You see, we are building daddy a bear because we just said goodbye to him for a 7 month deployment just before the holidays. With the hustle-bustle of the mall, a crying toddler in a long line, a heavy heart trying to find some joy in the holiday, both my son and I were in quiet tears approaching the checkout. The store may have been packed, but it felt like we were standing still in time. When I came to the counter, the beautiful soul behind the register was nothing short of super sweet. I had snapped at her a moment earlier for trying to hand me the Birth Certificate when my hands were full because I was obviously having a hard time... During checkout, she asked me if I was okay a few times and offered to give me a minute to compose myself if I needed to. Genuinely. As a person. She cared. She asked if Daddy was deployed, and actually treated me as a human, not just a customer, and got to "know" me. She saw past a disgruntled mom having a hard time and responded to me with the most sincere kindness that it put me at ease. That sort of customer service - you don't find that often anymore. The name of the Cashier on the receipt says Arianna. So, to Arianna and the other lady at the front counter, thank you so much for your kindness today. At one of my weakest moments, as complete strangers you ladies picked me up through your kind words and tender way of not making us feel rushed in a delicate time. Kaiden loves his Stegosaurus "Rex" (all dinosaurs are t-rex right now), and I'm sure Daddy is going to love Kaiden 2.0. I will see you as soon as I can get little mans recording on the voice box.

My wife and I took my daughter to this Build A Bear location inside the Lynnhaven Mall for her birthday along with a couple of her friends. As this was our first experience we were pleasantly surprised with this place. First of all, it would be easy to lose yourself inside the workshop with young children as there are many things available and lots to see and do. However the staff were extremely helpful and guided us painlessly through the process. You begin by choosing the "skin" of the bear (or pony or Hello Kitty) that you want. Moving on you full your bear with stuffing, a heart and a scent if you want one and a sound for the inside. You can choose talking or a song etc. Then to the dressing area where you'll choose specific outfit pieces for the animal. Finally, you create a birth certificate on their computers and then pay at which point they'll dress your bears before putting them in the big boxes for you. My daughter had a lot of fun. The only downside is this can get pretty expensive as you custom make your bear. My daughters came out to just over $50....for a stuffed animal. Oh well, happiness is bliss?

Expensive and yet still busy. Took a while to get the bear stuffed. The clothes I wanted were sold out. Quality is there at least.

I was originally referred…read moreto them by a physical therapist following knee surgery over ten years ago, and I have been a loyal customer ever since. I have shopped at both their Norfolk and Virginia Beach locations and have consistently found the customer service to be top-notch. They always analyze your gait before making any recommendations to ensure a proper fit. Additionally, as a Brooks enthusiast, I appreciate that they offer one of the largest selections of Brooks footwear in the area and if you are lucky you can catch last years model on sale. If you are experiencing foot pain or are simply looking for the right pair of sneakers, I 100% recommend stopping by.

The service remains top notch and was immediate. I needed a replacement shoe for my four year broken down everyday Hoka's. I have really loved the brand and hoped to stay in them. But was also open to try others. The sales guy understood my needs and confirmed my old Hoka's were trash. They upgraded the Bondi I'm in to the 10, so he started with that. However, he first had me walk up and down to evaluate my gait. He measured my feet. He pulled out around six colors to choose from and I tried on a pair and walked again for evaluation. They felt much better than my broken down sneaks. After an inspection of the laces and the way my toes were in the box he pulled out a wide shoe from the back. They only came in three colors, but the gray is what I wanted anyway. After walking again the wide shoe felt the best and more comfortable in the toe box. My previous shoes were regular width. We also discussed socks that would be more beneficial for walking and jogging avoiding cotton at all cost. Cotton retains moisture, that can cause blisters. So go with synthetics, or wool. I tried on a synthetic by Feetures that felt great and picked up a pair to purchase with new shoes. I wore my new ones out and they recycled my old ones and the box. Hoka's are not a cheap brand. So expect $165 and up. Checkout was smooth on my card. Running Etc is a unique experience on service as I described. They know the sport of running, they know their products and best of all the know how to satisfy their customers with phenomenal service. Whole heartedly recommend!!!

I have been to every shoe store in the tidewater area and have met with less than unsatisfactory service. New Balance was the last place I had yet to try and did so on 8/12/25. My family and I walked in and was greeted immediately and asked if there was anything I was looking for. I went there looking for a particular shoe that they offer but they did not have in stock. Nick, was the gentleman that assisted us and I explained my situation and he knew exactly what I was talking about and started to educate me on the shoes they offered that could help my condition. I tried in several pairs as we talked about hip-hop and how the music has changed over the years. I finally settled on pair. Out of all the places I've visited, this was the only place that listened to me and understood my problem. They weren't trying to sell me a shoe, rather a solution and it was worth it to wear that pair out of the store and finally walk on my own without the help of a walking boot. I will definitely be back and will always recommend this store and Nick.
