I recently called Building Hard Concrete to build me a 96 foot Tan split-face concrete block fence. Elias came by and looked at the old fence and we agreed on price. It turned out fantastic, please check out pictures. Elias brought several teams and master stone mason, Francisco to do the work. Don "Pancho" used Clovis rebar/fence code and did amazing work. I also needed to move some sprinkler valves about two feet and he brought in Don Martin to do this job. I had an original home builder wood fence, it was falling apart. My new fence does not even compare to previous fence. I incentivised Elias for a fast build and he did a great job in 4 days! Elias left waste material on my property. Would hardly show up and took more than a week to remove the formers to pour concrete. Happy to have found another concrete contractor to do our backyard. Small jobs are important too Elias. They show your attention to detail and your customers how important their work is to them as well. Do yourself a favor. Skip, avoid and don't do business with Building Hard Concrete, he will be a pain in your rear end as other reviewed have stated. My response to the owner: If didn't do poor quality work and have terrible customer service. Wouldn't my review be positive? You didn't clean up everything. I had to continually ask you to come clean up and remove the formers. What you should do as a business owner is take the criticism and grow from it. Second time I chose Elias and his crew for some walkway steps in my front yard. Again, very pleased with the outcome of my project. The color we chose was a little off from what we both anticipated, however, he was gracious enough to offer to change the color in the future if we choose to. Still one of the most reasonably priced contractors out there, good communication and easy to talk to. He even leveled out some dirt for me in my backyard. Good cleanup also. Elias isn't dependable and doesn't keep his promises. Hope you have unlimited vacation days to take off of work for all the times he doesn't show up to your house. He flakes every time with different excuses. He even promises the night before to show up and still doesn't. If your job isn't big enough to fill his wallet then good luck getting him to come to your house. The professional and descent thing to do would be to tell the customer that the concrete job is too small for him and he doesn't want to do it. Elias is very unprofessional. He's nice on the initial call for quote. He came to my house and gave me a quote I was good with. But when it came time to start the work, him and his crew never show up. He is not reliable and doesn't show up when promised. I made the mistake of not once, not twice, but three times allowed him to "make it right" and he still wasted my time and did no-shows to my house every single time. I have no idea why. I don't know if he is double booking appointments or what's going on. But it's completely unprofessional and bad business to do that. I would not recommend him. I had Elias with Building Hard Concrete create an extension of our concrete patio and build a retaining wall for our back yard. He did such an excellent good job that I also had him replace drainage pipes in our side yard and install a French drain in a garden bed. Elias responded quickly after I contacted him. They came to do concrete for part of our backyard, and was able to match the stamping and color or our existing concrete (as much as possible). They were also able to help us replace a few fence posts that were rotting. His team was quick and efficient. Our job went from Friday through Tuesday. One day for prep, one day for cleanup, and curing over the weekend. Pricing was better than most contractors that we contacted, and he was great in communicating if he would be delayed or if something did not go as planned. I had some specific instructions about how large I wanted our concrete pavers done and spacing for them, and they did a great job following those instructions. A few of our sprinkler pipes got damaged in the process of digging through the hard dirt (we expected that since we've run into that problem ourselves), but they were upfront and fixed it right away. He even texted after to make sure there were no leaks. I have already recommended him to some friends, and would call them again to do more work for us in the future if we need concrete done. read more

The concrete work is pretty good, although it was not actually Elias that did it, but rather some other guy who stayed all day to finish after the pour. My issue is that Elias's favorite word is "tomorrow", as in "I'll be there tomorrow", but not show up or text or call to say he's not showing up. So, a job that should have been done within a week stretches out to 2-3 weeks to finish everything up (I also paid for a new gate section which was a big mistake because these guys really aren't fencers). These guys need to be watched closely because they will do whatever they feel like without consulting the homeowner. I did not hover over them because I figured they knew what they were doing, and I regret it. They cut the wires to my sprinkler valves to keep water off of the pour area. Had they asked, I would have assured them that the sprinklers were already shut off, but they don't ask, they just do. They also tore out some of my brick veneer without asking and I don't even know why. They kept saying they would fix these things, but all I heard was tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. We were still waiting for the gate to be installed a week after the pour, and I really don't think they were ever going to come back if my wife hadn't called and complained to him. Even then, it was still a tooth-pulling endeavor to get Elias back out to finish the fence, so I held back some of the money I owed him (not enough, really) and told him to not bother coming back, which is pretty ironic as he would barely show up anyway. I ended up building and installing my gate and I fixed the sprinkler wires easy enough, but the brick veneer is looking to be unfixable. Elias needs to learn what communication, commitment, and good customer service is. At no time did I feel like I was a priority or that this job was important to them. I was just something being squeezed in between more lucrative jobs, I suppose. Thanks for tearing up my house Elias. read more

I called and spoke with Elias who agreed to come out and give me a quote for concrete work and retaining wall to be put in. He quoted me one price and kept changing it over the course of the next couple wks while I was waiting for the work to be done. It went from $3600 to $3800 to you need to add an additional $1200 on top of that. All the while he kept giving me dates on when he would show up to do the work and it would never happen. First time he rescheduled the day before he was supposed to come do the work stating he had other project delays? Okay thats understandable although you would know that information I would think way before the night before you start another project but I say okay. The second time he txts me on the day he is supposed to come to do the work he will show up at 1pm to do my project. 1:30 rolls around I look in my backyard and see some tools but no ppl??? I txt him at 6pm cause I thought they went to get more supplies or forgot something. He texts back saying he cant start the project today because of delays????? Wouldn't you know this way before you show up to do the work or texted you will be there to start the work? Just doesn't add up. He offered to reschedule the 3rd time with the increased fee. I found Elias and his company through Yelp and after talking with him I decided to give him a chance to give me a bid. He came out and talked with me about what I wanted and had some great ideas on how we could make the project better. Elias e-mailed me the bid the next morning and after talking with a couple more contractors I decided to have him do my driveway extension and a pad for the RV trailer. The drainage of the RV pad was going to be tricky, but they did a great job in getting the grades correct and now all water drains into the drains and into the street as I requested. Elias and his whole crew were very knowable and polite. Any questions that I had were answered and at no time did I feel like they had a problem with this. The whole crew from start to finish showed that they have been doing this type of work for a long time and the job was a complete success and I am very happy with this company. Elias is trying to start up a new company but everyone that worked on my project was very knowledgeable and showed the upmost respect to me and the surrounding people and property.
