After dealing with Joe (business owner) on two separate occasions, I think these past reviews are a bit suspicious! I called Joe a few months ago and scheduled an appointment with him so he can give us an estimate for a room addition. About 5 minutes before our scheduled appointment, he called me and told me a family emergency came up and would have to reschedule. I asked him to call me when he's ready and available to reschedule the estimate. I never got a call back from him. I mistakenly gave Joe the benefit of the doubt and called him again last week and scheduled another appointment with him for today (December 17) @ 2 PM. He called me at 1:57 PM, I wasn't able to answer. He text me at 1:57 PM and simply said "I'm sick. Can we meet another day?" That's it. Did he just find out he was sick? 3 minutes before our meeting! I totally understand family emergencies come up and that people get sick. That's not my issue with Joe... It's Joe's lack of respect for potential customer's time and their (busy) schedules. My wife wanted to be here for the walk through, so she left work early (used vacation time) for nothing! All we're asking for from any business owner is simple respect for ALL customer's time, including potential customers. Don't call 5 minutes before a meeting to cancel for a family emergency AND don't call 3 minutes before a meeting to cancel because you're sick! As legit as those cancelation reasons are, they seem suspicious when you call 5 minutes and 3 minutes before the scheduled meetings. read more

We had been planning to add an attached garage to our home for the past year. Once we had finished getting the plans approved by the city, we began our process getting quotes on the work. We had many contractors come by. Brent and Aaron from Built-Right Construction came out to assess our project. They spent a good amount of time going over the plans, and seemed to have a better grasp on the scope and work required on the project, as well as things that might present a challenge than most of the other prospective contractors. The quote from Built-Right came in pretty close to the costs that we were planning on. Once we made our decision to go with Built-Right, Joe (the owner) came by met with us to go over the contract and the costs associated. He thoroughly explained the project and what was and was not covered in the contract. He also eased our concerns with the plans submitted to the city as well. As soon as his team was available, he notified us that his team was ready to begin work, and we moved out in order to ensure that we would not impede construction. Throughout the project, Joe would meet with us to ensure that we knew what the status was and would give us heads up whenever we needed to decide on something or he needed feedback on a question. Since he was proactive in making sure to get our feedback and planning inspections, there were very few times when the construction would be held up and everything went fairly smoothly. They also noticed some problems with the architect's plans and helped me to get them worked out with the city. Joe did great in working with us to keep the extra costs down and his team was very flexible in assisting us to ensure that everything worked out to our satisfaction. The quality of work done by his crew was top-notch, all of our family who have come by to see the house have been thoroughly impressed and his crew did an amazing job containing the mess of construction. It has been a pleasure working with Joe and his crew, and we couldn't be happier with how things turned out. We would not hesitate to recommend Built-Right Construction to anyone considering remodeling/adding onto their home, thanks in part to the quality and pricing of their work, and ease of working with them. read more

Joe (Built-Right Construction) has completed two jobs for our home. One, a bedroom and bonus room and bathroom extension addition in 2002 and two, a large patio in 2015. This is a long time coming but I feel that I need to right this review! Built Right Construction is absolutely the best contractor you could find! They are honest and up front from the beginning! They saved us from the worst contractor ever (that lied about a license among other things). Joe took the drawings (which he could do too!) and made improvements that made sense. He kept everything practical and made sure we kept to the budget as much as possible. Aaron is the best foremen in the business as well! He was knowledgeable and made sure that everything was good! Our project was a complete build! We converted a single story home into a two story home with a COMPLETE REMODEL of everything! Joe and his team at Built-Right did a tremendous job remodeling our house in Whittier. The quality of their work was superb, and all work was completed in a timely fashion and any issues or problems were quickly addressed and fixed. As in David V's review, the entire crew worked very clean and respected our house. Our house was demoed almost down to the studs and Built-Right installed a gorgeous new kitchen, removed a hallway closet to expanded our only bathroom, installed new windows and back sliders, engineered hardwood floors throughout, painted interior, painted and stuccoed exterior, updated electrical panel and wiring. Me and my wife are extremely pleased with the results of our brand new house! Like it says on their website, "Honest. Professional. Affordable." that's exactly what we got. I am going to start my review by saying that I believe it is important to commend exceptional service when you receive it. I have just completed the remodel of my master bathroom. The remodel was done by Mr. Robert Sarmiento. Mr. Sarmiento (from here on, Robert, for simplicity) represents two companies that appear to be joined at the hip, Built-Right Construction and Kitchen Creations. From the beginning Robert was polite and professional. For those people who do not like to read a long review, my bathroom remodel was done and completed within the time frame quoted by Robert. Like any project there were some minor delays caused by sickness and weather. Robert's staff was professional and courteous. Throughout the project I had 2 workers arrive daily Monday through Friday and they were always clean, friendly and fluent in English. In the end my wife and I received the bathroom we had envisioned at the beginning of the project. I highly recommend Robert Sarmiento, he met with my wife and I more than 10 times during this project. He insured that the work was done properly and to the highest standards. This is a 5 out of 5 star operation. I have discussed my experience with other people who have remodeled their homes and it appears that my experience is superior to most. The workers cleaned up at the conclusion of each day and tried to be as minimally intrusive in our lives as possible. All construction projects cause a significant disruption in the lives of the people living in the residence, but Robert and his crew kept this to the bare minimum. If you are planning a remodel I highly recommend you select Mr. Sarmiento. For those who need more details read the following: Robert provides first class construction. He provides custom cabinets built in a factory in the City of Industry. He met with my wife and I for more than an hour assisting us in the selection of that cabinets and the design lay out of our bathroom. Secondly he provided exact instructions as to how much tile we needed to purchase. There was only a little left over at the end of the project. He also met us at the granite yard and assisted with the selection of the slabs that would work best with our design and color scheme. At each step of the project he was there to assist with design and color selections. His knowledge and skill are exceptional. Secondly he did things differently than some of the other contractors had suggested. Instead of using hardybacker and applying the tile he floated both the walls and the floor before laying the tile. Now I need to commend Ismael and Jimmy his two tile men. Ismael is an artist and each time a significant decision regarding the layout or the design he consulted with my wife who is the artistic one of us. He and Jimmy were amazing. The tile design is complex and involved using tile in six differ shapes and colors. Ismael made it all work and our bathroom is gorgeous. I also need to point out that my house is multistory and our floor groaned and creaked. Robert and his crew worked until the floor was stable and silent, before the floor was mudded and any tile layed. His workers put up plastic sheeting to shield us from as much of the dust and dirt as possible. I cannot say how much I appreciate the professionalism that was displayed throughout the entire project. I need to add just a couple of other things. Initially we met with Robert in August of 2017 to begin this project. I gave him a deposit with the intent of starting the project in September. I had hip replacement surgery scheduled in October and my wife freaked out so we placed the project on hold, and did not start the project until early January of 2018. During the delay Robert never bothered or harassed us about the delay, but was patient, knowing that we were going to begin as soon as my wife got through the holidays. Secondly during the construction I had an electrical problem in my other two bathrooms and believing it was related to the remodel I called Robert. He sent out his electrician and he diagnosed the problem as a worn out GFI outlet in one of the other bathrooms unrelated to the remodel. He fixed the problem. When I offered to pay for the additional work Robert waved it off and moved on with the project. If this does not convince you how terrific our experience was, nothing will. When there was a misunderstanding about the mirrors design again Robert made it right. Robert Sarmiento will not be the cheapest so if you are looking for cheap look elsewhere. But if you are looking for high quality work done reliably and professionally you need to call Robert Sarmiento. We are satisfied customers who have signed up for additional projects and give Mr. Sarmiento and his companies our unqualified recommendation. A Five Star operation. read more

Built-Right Construction is an amazing contractor and I highly recommend them. Sorry it took me so long to give them a review. I hired Built-Right Construction back in 2014 for a second story addition over our garage. Joe was by far the most helpful of the 4 contractors bidding on our project. The other 3 contractors tried changing my layout and Joe was the most helpful in meeting our needs. We hired them again this month, July 2016 for a smaller project and that is why I want to make sure I get this review in this time. Joe's crew are very professional, always on time, do a very good job and always cleaned up at the end of the day. Joe works with excellent sub-contractors and was always here to make sure the work was done to perfection. Another thing I loved about Joe is how attentive he was throughout the building process and how he made sure our living conditions were not affected while the construction was ongoing. During a heavy storm Joe even came by our house at 3:00 a.m. to make sure there were no leaks going into our kitchen, that's when I really knew what an amazing caring contractor he is and very happy we hired him. 2 Bedrooms with nice walk-in closets and a restroom were built over our garage. Everything came out to our satisfaction. To this day we get many compliments on how beautiful our house looks. It is not your typical box looking addition over a garage, the outside is just so amazing. Our latest project was getting his electrician do some upgrades on our kitchen lights, adding a bathroom fan and a bedroom ceiling fan. It was not a huge job but because of the trust and their professionalism I just knew I had to call Joe back to have his electrician do the work.
