I am planning to remove a wall and open up my kitchen and living room. I thought I was going to have to put in a 25' beam. Mike came over and walked through the attic with me and explained to me why I didn't need to do that since the trusses and cords provided sufficient support. Another contractor was going to charge thousands of dollars to put in a beam. Mike didn't charge me anything to evaluate my situation even though his recommendations didn't get him a job. I'd thought I'd owe ACW construction a review based on the work that was just completed on my exterior deck (11ft x 20ft) Based on long term exposure to the elements and termite damage we had to fully tear down our previous deck and rebuild it to similar specifications. A cold search on the internet does not result in many contractors that specialize in decks and if they do it's mostly high end high dollar builds. We was fortunate enough to run across ACW on Yelp and decided to have them provide a bid alongside a few other contractors. Mike w. Arrived on time discussed what we wanted and efferent provided a written electronic quote. Decided to go with ACW based on Mike's communication, willingness to listen and thought the quote was reasonable based on the scope of the project. Mike was easy to work with communicative and was agreeable to contractual changes and few updates to keep both of us clear on expectations and requirements. Once the work started , the crew lead by Saul did quality work and it felt as though they took the necessary time to correctly build the deck and did not try to rush the completion. The crew covered up, items such as sconces to avoid damage and at times put down protection against their ladders as to not damage the existing stucco. The little things such as this matter as if they take care of small things it will carry forward to the approach on larger parts of the project. Nightly, they cleaned up the worksite each day and stored all equipment neatly. I felt that each day I would send Mike or the crew questions and they were more than happy to respond or confirm. Moreover, when they had questions, needed confirmation, or ran into challenges they ensured they communicated with me prior to moving forward. In the end I am happy with the quality and interaction with Mike, Saul and ACW. And If we needed additional work I'd definitely use ACW again. read more

We had a considerable amount of work done (a interior wall removed, 2 sliding glass doors removed, a 22 foot opening opened up to accommodate an accordion door, wood tongue and groove patio ceiling installed with fans and recess lights, new fine stucco installed and more) by ACW. I got five quotes on my kitchen expansion project, and Mike was the person I felt most comfortable with from the start. ACW was not the cheapest, but it was close. I chose to pay about 10% more than the cheapest quote because of Mike's professionalism, experience and manner. He and his crew arrived at 7:00 a.m. (impressive!) with all the materials needed for the project. They worked a long day to complete the demolition. They showed up every day between 7:00 and 7:15 and left between 2:00 and 3:00, completing the job ON TIME! Several friends told me not to listen to contractors' estimates of how long something will take because it always takes longer. Nope. Mike and his crew took just 10 days, as promised, despite hitting a small snag. There were some unexpected pipes in the wall (surprise!), and they cost a little bit more to relocate, but it was reasonable. His crew was diligent and respectful. These guys are hard workers! I don't think I heard any swear words in English or Spanish either. I appreciated that. They were careful to close the side gate every time and not let the dog out, also appreciated. I have a friend who's a handyman, and when he saw the completed project, he affirmed they did good work. Awesome work on some support framing in the ceiling and putting in a new wall in my garage for soundproofing an area for music. Owner was very responsive and came out with 24 hours to give an estimate. Also came out day of project to go over all the details and nuances about what the end work would look like again and introduce his workers. Workers were top notch and really professional. Everything with the project turned out great. I have since had a couple companies out to look over plans for insulation and finishing details and both commented that the framing was "perfect" and spaced correctly for weight distribution etc. Really happy with whole process. read more

I hired Mike and his team to frame a doorway, and install a door in our open-style loft and I had an overall great experience. It was hard to find a reputable contractor that would take the project, because it was only 2 days. Mike was very responsive and communicated with me throughout the scheduling and ordering of the door casing and door. At the start of the 2 days, him and his team were there promptly at 7am to begin. He stayed while we had a final talk about the project before they began work, and helped us find a good solution for moving our light switched. He stayed while they set up the plastic and paper leading to and around the work area. Mike came shortly after the start of the second day to check in and see how things were going. He was very involved and cared about ensuring a happy client and that things were going well. The two guys that were doing the project were very nice, and they really took their time to ensure the job was done well. Mike and his son started my job on time @ 7:00 AM. The task here was to take down a decaying 2"x10" fascia board that ran 20 feet and replace it with a new one. The challenge was to carefully not disturb the DirecTV dish and push back the adjoining patio support cover that separated from the house. The estimate provided ended up being the actual cost of the project, no one tried to upsell me, and the work was done quickly and with precision. Can a dining room transform into an office? Yes it sure can, but you'll need to call ACW construction for that! We called ACW construction to come give us a bid on closing out two openings to the dining room (one with french doors/glass and the other with dry wall). Mike came out to give a quote right away and even followed up to make sure I got it/didn't have any questions. His bid was competitive with our other bids plus he was able to start right away. The project took a reasonable time to complete and turned out beautiful. We're going to change paint colors in the surrounding rooms so I will post pictures after that's done. The french doors and glass above turned out better than I imagined as did the shelving he and his team made us. Mike was really instrumental to our creative process, checking in with us periodically to ensure what they created was what we had envisioned. They were particularly great about taping plastic to protect the surroundings, taping paper to the floor and cleaning up after everything was done. A 5 star experience all the way! They built an attic storage space, installed drywall, attic storage ladder, electrical work, some concrete work, LED lights, and trim. I could not be happier. The work looks amazing. Mike was one of 3 contractors I contacted for bids on repairing the sway back roof line over our garage. One contractor didn't reply, another came out a gave a verbal quote of 4 days and $9k. And then there was Mike. Thank goodness. He said he'd done this type of work before. It would take one day. And his verbal estimate was less than a third of the other guy. Far more impressive, he submitted his written estimate/contract that same evening. It was well structured, and covered everything we'd discussed. When we talked the next day I asked for a one-sentence addition to the contract, which he again turned around the same day. (No other contractor I've worked with has been able to send out docs same day, or even next day. It was a pleasant surprise.) He and his crew started at 7 a.m. sharp. Were done by 2 p.m. They called us out to approve the new line of the ridge, then secured it into place. No issues, no surprises. Just a nice straight roof line. Let me start by saying I have never written a review on Yelp before and this review is long overdue. My wife and I purchased this home in August this year that was built in 1961 and was very outdated and mostly original inside. We had never done any remodeling and the search for a trustworthy contractor was our first step. I have to say, finding someone that actually shows up when they say they will and listens to what you want is more difficult than we expected. That is where Mike made his first excellent impression. Mike showed up on time, actually brought a ladder and tape measure (some contractors didn't) and made great recommendations to help us out. Mike also pointed out where we could save money by doing some things ourselves. Once the work started, Mike, Saul and his crew were all respectful, showed up on time, completed the work in a timely manner and did a great job on all work that they completed. They removed a wall separating the living room from the dining room, installed a beam into the attic, and relocated the opening into one of our bathrooms.
