We used Seabreeze Renovators for a front porch remodel (small project), and overall had a great experience. They responded quickly, came out to evaluate, and gave a reasonable quote. The person who did the work also walked me through design and material options. I originally wanted a Doric-style column, but they recommended a rectangular column using a durable PVC-type material (used for piping) and even reduced the price. I was hesitant, but it turned out to be the right call. They completed the job in one day and the house looks noticeably upgraded. Afterward, I noticed some movement in the railing slats. They explained it's normal since the railing is custom fabricated on site (not one solid piece), and similar to others in the neighborhood. Still, they came back out and glued them at no charge, and now everything feels solid. The finished look is beautiful--neighbors have already asked for referrals. We needed a master bedroom with bath added to our house, a total of 499 Sq. ft. From the beginning of the project the wireless were prompt, respectful, and most of all, clean. Despite the scope of the work they made a concerted effort to keep the work area neat. As construction progressed (which was very fast) we were kept on the loop as to what they were doing and what was to come. Everything went as smooth as possible from the building side (the only bumps in the road coming from the city inspectors). In the end we ended up with more than we could have imagined. The plans did not prepare us for the finished product. Our master bathroom came out beautiful, only to be outshines by the master bedroom it was connected to. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income who never had to hire a contractor until January 2024 due to water damage in my kitchen. I turned to Yelp for help and found 5 companies to interview. I settled on Long Beach Building Contractors for 2 reasons: 1) The owner, Al, promised that I could choose the materials I would like at a lower price if I paid for them, and 2) I liked Al's answer when I asked him to name his company's strength which was "skill level." So, I hired Al's company! I was so excited that I set him a picture of my dream kitchen! I was happy to pay for floor tiles, cabinets, countertops, and a porcelain sink which I had picked out at a lower price. However, my excitement started to fade and turn to disappointment for the six reasons listed below: 1) No real contract.- Al had me sign an estimate that I had printed for myself, and called it "the contract." 2) Sent me one worker, although Al had said during the interview that I was getting two workers. What he failed to mention then was that he had other work sites and he was spread thin. I was getting his "best" electrician. The second week, a newly hired worker showed up at my house, but he did not know much about construction. How did I know this? The experienced one had to teach him how to do things each step of the way, slowing things down. 3) According to Al, the working hours were from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Mondays through Fridays. The workers at my house started at 8:40 am to 3:35 pm. 4) The "contract" stated that I was to pay a deposit and a payment "on the day work begins. The final payment balance would be due upon completion." I understood this, but what surprised me was that Al was charging me at the end of each week. When I inquired about it, the reason was that I had asked too much. Al should have informed me when I sent him the picture of the kitchen I wanted. 5) Al's "best" electrician caused electrical damage in my panel fuse box when he turned off the electricity in the entire house, then tried to turn it on again. The electricity in my bedroom, bathroom, workroom, and the east kitchen wall did not return. Even after two failed attempts by the employee, Al never came on site to see what the problem was. I had to pay a specialist electrician to repair the damage after 12 days of no electricity in those areas named above. 6) By February 16th, the floor tiles, bottom cabinets, countertop, and sink had been put in place. Yet, the kitchen walls had not been painted. Aren't the walls supposed to be painted first before the added items? I did not have a chance to ask the workers that questions because on that same day, my computer was hacked and a large amount of money was taken. I no longer had enough money to pay Long Beach Building Contractors. So, I had to let Al's company go, but before I did, I paid the last payments I owed, one in cash. ( I still have not received the receipt for the cash payment.) I don't know when this whole experience turned into a nightmare. It had started out well. In Response to Al: As mentioned above, I had to call on an electrician who specializes in residential & commercial electrical problems; that is higher than your employee. He did not say about my updating my electrical panel, but he did mention that 4 other fuses had been damaged and replaced those. That's when the electricity returned. Al, you did not even come to see the problem yourself. As to the problem you had about placing the workers I had let go, there really was only one, since the second worker was a novice and had only worked 7 days. If you really want to get a hold of me, send me an email, i still have the same address. You did not even respond to the last one, asking for a receipt for the cash payment . You have sent me receipts only for payments given to you in checks. Thank in advance and good luck to you as well! read more

New flooring throughout - even did a fantastic job with our request for VCT in certain areas. 5. Installed recessed lighting. 6. Removed popcorn ceiling and wood paneling. 7. Al came in after the walls had been removed and helped us manage the permitting process. Of course, once his team got started, they saw that some of our engineering plans were off, and so then Al worked with the engineer to update the plans and resubmit the permit. LBBC really came through for us!!!! We were experiencing major water damage coming in to our guest room walls and windows from a horribly sealed and cracked balcony above our guest room. Rain water was getting into walls from cracks at the base of sliding glass windows and pouring down guest room windows and out of baseboards every time it rained (a problem we thought was fixed, but over time realize was not). My husband called LBBC last weekend and left a message about our problem. Al called back the next day and came by our house a day later to assess the problem. Our biggest concern was that a lot of rain was in the upcoming weeks forecast so we knew we had to do something fast. Super knowledgeable and very professional, but also kind, and understanding/sympathetic of our situation, Al gave us a number of solutions and made us feel like not only did he know what he was doing, but that he'd do good work for us, we decided Al and LBBC were the team we needed. That night he had a crew lined up for the day after. The team arrived on time, were extremely professional, and removed all of the tile, resealed and resurfaced the patio, and thoroughly cleaned up, all in a day (came back for about an hour the day after to paint). The rain started last night (and is expected to be consistent for the next 3 days) and there isn't a drop of water in the guest room (and by now there would have been). The wall is dry, the window and baseboards have no sign of water, the work of LBBC was a God send! I can't praise and thank them enough. We have several remodel projects on our list and we really do hope LBBC can take those on too. Al is amazing! It is so nice to finally have a general contractor I can wholeheartedly recommend - I am very picky and pretty demanding in terms of the level of service I want and Al went above and beyond even my high expectations. From the very first time I called and he was able to come give me a quote the next morning, to the last day of work less than a month later (and exactly on the schedule he gave me, how often does that happen??) his communication was always super fast. We did a kitchen and flooring remodel so he did a fairly extensive demolition and replaced fixtures and prepped our space for the new stuff over about 2-3 weeks, and then came back and put in appliances and the new sink and did lots of lovely detail things like crown molding. (We had our cabinets and floor installed by other people because it was ikea cabinets and a specific floor we wanted from somewhere else but I'm sure Al would have done a great job with those too) His guys always showed up when he said they would (you'd be amazed how often that doesn't happen) and were professional, efficient and nice. Even when he was done with his part of the work, he would quickly send someone out to help if I had a problem that wasn't even his fault, which I appreciated tremendously. And he's also just really friendly and his rate was incredibly good for the service - we got several quotes and his was very reasonable and he's very thorough with his invoicing so you don't have any surprise fees later. LBBC started work on my property in Long Beach in April 2020. I decided to utilize the services of LBBC for the following: 1. Reinforce my garage with as the sides of the garage was blowing out due to the center beam and dropped. Due to the ceiling cover you can not see the visual evidence inside of the garage of the dropped beam, however it was evident viewing the garage roof from the exterior that the dropped or sagging center beam was the culprit, which in turn caused the sides to bow. This was a hazard and accident waiting to happen. 2. Cement work on the side of the garage to fix the foundation and provided a leveled surface to match the driveway and street level to help eliminate the pooling of rain water in the back yard. 3. Proper drainage in the backyard for any rain that could potentially accumulate in the backyard // garage area. 4. Removing and old warned out front gate (steel). This was replaced by a wooden gate. 5. Paint and repair the front porch. Wooden railing added to the front porch border. 6. Full bathroom with shower // bath tub combination, vanity and toilet, added to the rear bedroom. 7. Relocated the water heater in order to install the new bathroom. Al - was very responsive and even dropped his original quote by roughly $4000 from his original quote. Add'l work added: 8. Gutted out the garage. 9. Patched the garage floor with epoxy. 10. Added in wall panels, insulation, ceiling and new roof to the garage. Plus added new side security door (iron). Added new front garage doors with padlock. 11. Added shower rod & installed shower curtain to the old bathroom. 12. Added door thresholds to the front and back door. 14. Installed new door handle to the old bathroom sliding door (adjusted the alignment on the track). Overall working with Al and his team was great. Al effectively communicated with me regarding the work. There were some delays that were beyond anyone's control due to Covid-19 and the protest against police brutality. Siding on the side of safety was the correct decision. I have already recommended Al and LBBC to a few of my coworkers and will utilizing more services from LBCC after I save some more money for the household upgrades. read more
