We had Rick from solid rock handyman services install a deck railing for us in April 2023. He was…read morerecommended by our real estate agent that we have good success with their previous recommendations over the years. Rick came out and showed us photos of his work on his phone. The photos looked good and he was pleasant to talk with. We agreed to hire him to build our railing thinking we were going to receive a quality and professional job. Unfortunately that is not what we got (see photos). The railing has multiple issues from split wood to different size pieces, two different colored screws and crooked gates. I asked Rick to come out and address the issues and he did come out to take a look. He said he would raise the bottom rail to fix the issue on part of the slats but then I would have a bottom rail that is higher in some areas and not level at all, so fix one issue by causing another issue is his idea of quality work. He would fix the gate as he noted he used warped wood to build them. He came back a few weeks later on memorial day which he picked so I canceled my plans so we could finally put this project to bed.. When he showed up he didn't have all the supplies he needed and didn't even have the correct supplies at that. I told him to come back with the proper materials. He clearly has no attention to detail and is not interested in fixing the project the right way, instead trying to take any short cut possible. Later that day after he left I ended up sending an email asking for him to fix the project by starting over which he even brought up when i was showing him all the issues instead of trying to put a bandaid on everything. Or provide us a refund and we will hire someone else. Rick's response was he was not going to fix anything now. He is not returning my phone call now either. Sadly we trusted Rick and we got burned. It was a very expensive lesson learned and took us a long time to save up the money and unfortunately will cost us even more money to fix the project. With spending almost $10k on railing we thought we were getting a quality product which is disappointing that we are now out the money and will have to spend more money to fix a railing that we should not have to do. I can not recommend Rick with Solid Rock Handyman Services. The lack of attention to detail from installing split wood, to different colored screws, and warped gates that don't latch properly i would never have him do work on property again sense he does not stand behind his work. I encourage you to look for a different handyman if you are in the need for one. Rick with Solid Rock Handyman is not someone I would ever use based on our personal experience.

When he came, he wore a mask and shoe covers which made me feel very safe and comfortable. He didn't know it but I'm immune compromised and that means a lot to me. He quickly determined that the job I was wanting to do would require an electrician and because of that I decided to not officially do it. It was so nice of him to apologize to me, even though I felt bad I couldn't have him do the job and pay him. I will gladly think of hiring again if I need a handyman.

Now, first the name implies that they will help you Design your dream kitchen, this is a misnomer. They do not even help you pick colors or materials that will go together or help avoid dark colors in a small space. You are on your own! After you have made all the decisions, they will create a beautiful mock up. They did listen to the changes we wanted in cabinet height and placement, but they did not want to give their opinion on anything, which I kind of understand, but we asked for their thoughts and opinions. The employees: the two lead guys, hmm.. well at first Grayson was great to work with, at the end of the job he wasn't even nice and tried to not complete work to be done (It did get done, but he was not happy about doing it) The majority of the workers were great and efficient, they were very good about cleaning up each night. The lead, Al, was a sexist jerk. He often spoke to my son, instead of me, while I was standing right there! If my husband was home, he ignored me completely, until one of the men would call him on it. He whined when I pointed out that he missed putting up a trim piece, he said, "No one will notice". One of the other employees (the owner's son) said, "I cut a trim piece for that location, it's going on." Al was annoyed, but it was done. Dan, the owner came by twice and is a very nice man and he is very knowledgable. His son and they other crew were really good. The salesman Larry, very nice man but he is a salesman and should probably go to a few construction projects before he sells things can't/won/t be provided. Grayson was professional for the most part, it was just at the end, when he just wanted to be done (I get that, I wanted it done, too), that he wasn't. Al was a jerk! He spoke down to me and grumbled a lot. The craftsmanship was fantastic!! If I have one complaint, it is that there is a couple of bumps under my flooring, most likely the floors weren't checked or swept before the flooring was put in.

Water pooled, and it sagged the panels, leaked everywhere. He sent his guy to fix it, who charged me more for labor and materials. I felt bad he wasn't going to get paid, so I paid it. One of the panels is coming off, wasn't attached properly. Now that panel is warped and falling apart. The panels don't reach the gutter, so water leaks under the gutter. They kept saying they'd "be out in the next couple days." Now he's ghosted me. I guess I'll hire someone else to finish/fix his work.

So hard to pick a star rating as there is both good and bad dealing with this contractor. We had a…read morecarport added to our 2 car garage and then a room above that entire area (so essentially above a 3 car area). It took 2 and 1/2 years to complete! Yes COVID was in the works and there was time off due to illness of both the contractor and his supervisor. However, there was also a 7 1/2 month period where NO WORK was done AT ALL. Excuse after excuse. The work was done well and we really like our new room. We have a beautiful knotty pine ceiling. The room is essentially three areas; a "family area" - sofa, chairs, coffee table, fireplace. A pool table in the middle and a sewing area in the 3rd area. The family area was supposed to be 14 feet from fireplace towards pool table area. It ended up being 11 feet! There was no conversation with us, the owners, that an error had been made by the architect and that the County had corrected and that changes would have to be made. Had there been discussion we might have been able to do some modifications which would have still allowed for the "family area" to be the 14 feet originally planned. The furniture I ordered for that area does not fit well now due to the reduction in size. Before the room was even completed we had a lien filed against our property as the Contractor hadn't paid one of his subs. We had to pay approximately $9,000 to get that lien eliminated. Luckily we still owed the Contractor money and were able to take it off the final payment. However, it took filing with the Contractors Construction Board (CCB) to get the Contractor to finish the work. Yesterday, after the job was finally completed in June, we received a Certified Letter that another sub-contractor had not been paid. I called the sub and they said they had been trying to get the Contractor to pay for over a year. Thankfully my call to the Contractor after receiving that letter resulted in the sub finally being paid today. To summarize, the work they do is very nice and our room is lovely! They were easy to have around and cleaned up after their work prior to leaving for the day. Had we not had all the delays or the liens/lack of payment to subs issues, I would recommend them. But 2 1/2 years is way too long to complete 1 large room above a garage. We received no apology or any financial reduction to compensate for the "family area" being 3 feet shorter than it was supposed to be. I would say that if someone reading this does go ahead with this particular Contractor you make certain that you hold back 50% of the project total until all work is completed. We were novices to this and our contract allowed for only a 10% final payment. There should also be a stipulation as to what the time period will be in which the work will be completed and if they don't comply with that provision there is a financial penalty.

We just used Ever for a roof repair on our home in Burien. He was AWESOME! I could not recommend…read morehim more. He was very responsive - calling me back right away, showing up on time, getting us on his schedule quickly. He also worked with the electric company to turn our power off so he could do the work - the electric company said it would take 6 weeks to get us on the schedule but Ever got it to happen in 2 weeks. The problem ended up being bigger than we had originally thought but he gave us a range of cost to make sure the problem was completely taken care of and then ended up coming in at the low end of his range while going above and beyond to make sure our roof was completely fixed. We will definitely be calling Ever and EZ Home Advisor for any needs we have.
