Basically, burger - single or…read moredouble - or cheeseburger with handcut, shoestring or sweet potato fries and, um, that's it. Served in true fast food joint style, fries on paper plates and tightly wrapped bundle containing the burger. Washing up overhead nil. We both had cheeseburgers with handcut fries after agonising for literally seconds over our choice. Service was brisk and meals appeared within a few minutes. I have a 'thing' about burgers. I like my steaks medium rare but I always insist on a well-done burger for hygiene reasons which, in fairness, this was. My companion had ordered hers medium but it looked very much on the rare side to both of us but she was happy enough. Frankly, I thought it was all pretty meh. Nothing memorable or good enough to drag me back. The burger bun did maintain structural integrity throughout the process which was a plus but the whole thing was decidedly only ok. It was cheap, however, so there's that. Apparently, they have long waits at busy times. No idea why and I'd be furious if I had had to wait in line for a mediocre burger.

During our research before we left we saw a video talking about Bunsen. Just seeing the high quality of the ingredients made it one of our must try stops in Dublin. As we do when traveling, we start and end the day eating throughout the day. We popped into Bunsen to finally try the legendary burger around 4:30 pm. Because we were there at such an odd hour, we were the only people there. When you visit Ireland, the pub culture is real and most pubs start to get quite busy around 5:30 pm. Since Bunsen isn't a pub and wasn't located in a particularly touristy area , it didn't surprise me they were empty at that time of day. What stuck out the most at first was the super friendly service right from the door. We were sat at a small banquet of tables against the wall and checked out the menu from QR code link on the table. We were there for their original burger so that is what we ordered. No sides and water to drink. I couldn't be filling up too much yet. It was pretty early after all and we had a lot of places to stop yet. The menu isn't huge. They focus on doing one thing well and keep it at that. I like a restaurant that doesn't try to be everything. Our burger came out within 10 min and it was juicy, hot and fresh. Presented beautifully wrapped. We shared this one burger because, we knew we had lots of food to eat later. Immediately after eating the last bite I wanted to order another. It was really that good. Such perfection! This will be the burger I compare all others in Ireland to.

Last night in Dublin for my boyfriend and I and we wanted burgers. We googled best burgers in…read moreDublin and The Counter came up as one of them. So, we said, alright lets give it a go! Atmosphere: Modern bar. Very busy and noisy. Service: Not the best. We got seated pretty quickly but we waited forever before someone came to take our drink order. I saw multiple staff members just hanging out. Some of them eating a the bar just chatting. Our waitress didn't even say hi - just "are you ready to order?" When I asked a few questions about the burgers she was pretty clueless. Nice enough and all, but honey, you really should know your menu. She never asked us what temp we wanted our burgers cooked to either. Once we ordered our burgers, it took a good 25 minutes before they came out. A food runner gave us our plates. While we were waiting I noticed that the majority of the staff looked about 16 years old. Maybe a night time manager would be a good idea?? Our waitress did check in but didn't keep an eye on our drinks and I ran out of soda before finishing my burger AND my boyfriend ran out of his beer. Missed opportunity to earn more money.... When we finished our meal, we sat there a long time before someone else came to clear our dishes. We then waited for the bill for another 10 minutes....Thank goodness we didn't need change and could just get up and leave! Food: The food, however, was really good. I got the Old School Burger, very classic beef burger, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onions, relish sauce, brioche bun. The burger meat is antibiotic and hormone free and really did taste fresh and delicious. All the stuff that came with it complemented the burger nicely and I was definitely pleased. The relish sauce really made it. My boyfriend got the Bacon BBQ Burger - beef burger, cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, fried onion strings, hickory BBQ sauce on brioche bun. He thought it was really good. The fried onion strings were really good and the BBQ sauce was tangy and sweet. We both got the shoestring fries and they were okay. Nothing special, but not bad. If they seasoned them a bit it might take things up a notch. The presentation of the burgers is quite impressive. The fries come in a separate stand up container which is fun. There is a full bar with beer, wine, and cocktails. My boyfriend got 8 degrees sunburnt red beer which he liked quite a bit. I just had a diet coke. You can make your own burger if you don't want to get a specific one on the menu. There are a variety of burger bases, buns, toppings, sauces, and such to choose from. If you don't want fries for a side they have sweet potato fries, side salads, coleslaw, etc. They offer other menu items as well such as sandwiches, salads, appetizers, shakes/malts/floats. Cost: Most of the burgers were 10-12 euros. You pay extra for sides. The fries we got added an additional 2.50 euros each. My boyfriends beer was 5 euros, my soda 3 euros. So, as always, it adds up quick, but the prices are pretty reasonable. Especially because you really do get your money's worth. The burgers are no joke! I would definitely recommend this burger chain. I am hoping one opens in Clifton Park soon. I want to try all their other burgers!!!

With vegetarians and other conservative eaters in our party, we found this place a godsend for a midafternoon pre-Trinity-College-sightseeing meal. Actually, it's pretty good on its own merits. I've eaten at other Counters and I like the setup...but there are too many choices! Patty, bun, cheese, toppings, and sauce. So many options! But if you enjoy culinary creativity and/or control, you will not go wrong here. The sides are good too, except that they were out of fried pickles. Sad face. We enjoyed regular fries, sweet potato fries, and grilled vegetables. Everyone enjoyed their burgers, so the meal was a success. Ironically, The Counter has table service, so it's not quite as quick as you might hope. But their sodas are from a fountain (yay, American style) so you can get refills. Plus, a bonus--their soundtrack of classic rock and respectable 80s and 90s tunes inspired at least four individuals in our multigenerational group to sing at various times. Clearly, they are all about variety.

I believe we grabbed a table just shortly after they opened for the day as staff seemed disorganized and they had just printed their specials for the day. Prices were a little steep so I didn't get an alcoholic beverage, the wine looked and sounded great though! I did try their soup and ordered the hummus plate since their only other veg option sounded spicy. The food was fresh and good, mushroom soup was just OK. I wish they'd served the side of bread with some butter. The coffee machine was being serviced while we were there and it was amusing to hear all the locals trying to order coffee and being told no in various ways by each employee. The restaurant was certainly busy with the lunch crowds, but it wasn't overly noisy or packed. We were seated immediately and had a chance to place our orders quickly as well. 2 of us ordered the Fish and Chips which wasn't the smartest decision. The dish itself was HUGE. We would have been just fine splitting 1 between the 2 of us had we known. No complaints here. Everything was spot on taste-wise, and both of our plates came with a ton of fries (in addition to a decent portion of mushy peas). My other colleague ordered the pasta special of the day and wasn't necessarily thrilled with it, but maybe she just ordered the wrong thing? Ambiance was impeccable, a pure 10/10. The area has a ton of natural light and is super inviting. The decor is sophisticated and really adds to the overall 5 star feel. The location was super convenient for us. We were staying at the Clayton Hotel so we were just steps away. The restaurant is also conveniently located near a bus stop in case you are looking to visit and need public transport. Would certainly recommend!

It's food has been average and the atmosphere always bearable, but the main attraction was the convieniece of being able to quickly grab a burger when there's nothing at home in the fridge. On several occasions they have messed up the order which would be my first problem. Although this was incredibly irritating I never saw too much of a reason to complain as I know myself for several years working at McDonald's. However today as I got of my bus outside and went in to order I encountered a problem that was pushing the line from irritating to infuriating. I had left my wallet at home and only had 7 euro. Quickly scanning the menu I realized it would make more sense for me buy a kids meal than just a normal burger as it the kids meal would come with a small drink and fries aswell. Now never in my time at McDonald's has there ever been an age cap on whoever wants to buy a happy meal. I have never asked someone for id to prove there age, but yet as I placed this order at wowburger to a blonde women (about 5'6 with a fake blonde hair) that claims her name is teressa she looked at me awe struck. She then proceeded to ramble on that since I am not a kid I shouldn't be able to buy something that is on there menu. What good financially this is doing to wowburger I don't know. "The customer is always right" was how the saying went at macdonalds and it was by that motto that we live and breathed, yet of course at a ultra hipster metropolitan rip off five guys establishment such as wowburger I'm not all that suprised at the levels of entitlement that the employees have.
