    Sirloin sandwich with chips (fries)

The steak sandwich was super good and filling. They give you so much fries with it! The service was very friendly as well.

It is hard for me to review this place. On a lot of levels I really like it, but on others I don't. For example the Eggs Benedict are usually really good and come with a nice side of potatoes. On the other, the service seems put out every-time they have to seat someone. For lunch once I had a salad that was great, and the chicken wings look good, but the price of everything is a bit higher than what it seems it should be. So, I'm conflicted, should I give The Canal Bank a good review or a bad? The food is sometimes good and sometimes bad. The service is consistently mediocre yet I find myself wanting to go and eat here. I guess all I can do is give them a three star review. Lower for some things, and higher for others.

Grilled chicken salad. Chipotle dressing and chorizo just made this far too heavy.
    Shirley T.

Had a quick lunch here while traveling for work in Dublin. It was pretty busy but was able to get a table right away. I ordered the grilled chicken salad. It was enormous! While the ingredients were tasty, they were extremely heavy altogether. I had half and was able to function throughout the day. Too much chipotle dressing and chorizo can give you so much heartburn. Service was ok, they didn't check on me at all. Only appearing to take the order and process the card.

    Roasted carrot soup

We went here because was the only thing open late ate night, the food was average, I tried this carrot soup that was too rich for my taste. Drinks are well made and service was good. There are so many places to eat in the area and this one is an option for late dining.

Went here for lunch! Burger was delicious. My friend got the seafood dish and it looked good too.

The food was fantastic. It's a dark romantic kinda place......service was fast and friendly. We didn't have reservations but the two of us were able to be seated.

The location of this place is great, it's really beautiful inside. Their menu is impressive, ranges from sandwiches to main course. I got the vegetarian omelet, not advertised as that but it has no meat and lots of rabbit food. It was really good and tasty and I can't fault the service. Prices range from €15-€25 and they open from 10am till 11pm.

My other colleague ordered the pasta special of the day and wasn't necessarily thrilled with it, but maybe she just ordered the wrong thing?

With just a few small tables and chairs outside, the standing room only interior is a picture of economy. These were my first impressions as customers steadily streamed inside to place orders and then leave to wait for their sandwich or sit a bit. My eyes locked into the pastrami melt sandwich on the menu and I waited my turn, albeit a bit nervously, to place my order with one of the three gents who were slinging the sandwiches. All the ingredients in the deli case looked fresh, from the lettuce, meats, cheese, etc, to the types of bead on top of the case, like the focaccia. Each sandwich is made fresh, and once assembled, is pressed to warm the roll and melt the cheese. My pastrami melt arrived loaded with the meat, and all the ingredients enhanced by the deli mustard made for a great tasting sandwich. It's probably the best pastrami sandwich I've tasted in a long while. Every employee was patient and helpful, and I found this to be quite an effort since customers kept placing orders without much of a break. The Pig & Heifer is definitely worth a repeat visit.

I accidentally dropped the top dollop of the croffin and the staff member was very kind to replace it with a new one, which was not necessary but VERY much appreciated! I didn't wait more than 5/10 minutes. I grabbed a couple of different things for us to try -- the focaccia, morning bun, salted caramel roll, and the cinnamon roll. My favorite was easily the focaccia, which could compete with the best I had in Italy -- so good. The morning bun was good, but nothing crazy exciting. The salted caramel roll had to be the least caramel-y caramel roll I've ever had, but it didn't taste bad and the salted part was interesting (in a good way!). The Cinnamon roll was unique, which I appreciate. It had a big glob of cream cheese frosting (too much for me, but I imagine it would float a lot of folks' boats) and some orange flavoring! I quite liked the orange. I wanted to get a matcha to go, but they said they didn't have disposable cups. You could buy a 5 euro reusable one and then if you brought it back you'd get a refund... interesting, but I was leaving that day and wouldn't be back in the area. I can't speak to the ambiance because we were in and out, but it looked like they had a decent amount of space. All in all, I would recommend this place! For me it was a 4, but I'm sure for some it would bop up to a 5.

Outside was as mess, there were no chairs at some tables and other had to many with dirty dishes on them. So we decided to go in. There was no hostess nor any wait staff so we stood there like stooges. Finally ,two of the wait staff walked right by and just ignored us so we decided to take a seat. Now they want to come talk to us! I asked if this seat was ok and got the reply "I guess it will have to be as you already sat down". Should have got up then but the wife was tired so decided to stay. It was crazy warm in there with little air flow. I liked the atmosphere and ambience. Guess they wanted to make a point as we sat there for 15 mins without water or anybody coming by. Had to flag down what appeared to be a bus boy to get water. Finally had order taken by male bus boy who seemed he wanted to be anywhere else and said "I am waiting". We ordered two "specials" and the bœuf bourguignon. Two separate couples came in and were served before we received our food. So hard to eat as it was 80-85 degrees in there. The beef was good and would recommend. The two specials were chicken and very very dry. To wrap it up we had to hunt down the wait staff to get the ticket as they actively avoided eye contact. Fairly expensive for just ok food and horrible service. Customer service is not hard. A "Welcome" or "Glad you came in" goes a long way.
