I began with the owner of the studio after finding him on social media and I enjoyed his art. Our consultation took place in December, and we scheduled an appointment for the end of January. I had a half sleeve idea planned out. That first appointment went fine, he changed the time the day of- but no problem. Then my second appointment took place at the end of February, no problems that second time. He did not want to schedule a follow up appointment at that time, instructed me to text him. Then COVID-19 hit and of course things were off. At the end of May, I sent a message just to touch base about whether we should set an appointment now or hold off, after seeing him actively tattooing clients on social media and I wanted to make sure I got in to see him again since he's busy. He instructed me to pick any weekend date in May, I offered the 10th or the 17th since the 10th was Mother's Day. No response. Fast forward 3 weeks. He offers early June. I accept, however he does not reply. I send a message a few days later to follow up, he replies 1 week later, offers the end of June. Ok, so he went from offering beginning of May to very end of June. No problem, I thought, somewhat frustrating due to inconsistency in responses but I'd like to finish my piece. Next was where I really started getting annoyed. The day of, 2 hours before my appointment, he cancels due to "feeling ill". Definitely understandable- if it was true. He continued to post artwork and tattoos he was doing on his social media, despite too "being sick" to be around others. I had offered well wishes, asked to reschedule that day, with no response. 1 week later I followed up- again no response. Almost 2 weeks later I followed up again, offering that understand he's busy however he asked to reschedule and now I've been waiting over 2 months since the original offered appointment in May. I also then called the number on google to see if that was a better route of contacting the shop. A woman answered, whom apparently was not there, but she was nice and expressed understanding in my frustration. She stated she would follow up for me, and only then did I hear back. He scheduled me for end of July. He was late for the appointment and changed the time to later that day once I was already en route to the shop. After this appointment, he tried to get me out the door without scheduling for the next appointment in person. I requested to anyways, to which he scheduled me and then again canceled 3 hours before my appointment, due to feeling "ill" but then posted him tattooing clients and being out and about on his social media.
So, all that to show you he clearly lacks professionalism- my tattoo is nice but anyone who asks me about it I try to share this story with them so they know how unprofessional the owner is. It definitely seems like he is prioritizing new clients because he knows us with continued pieces have no choice but to wait longer. It's been almost a year and I will be leaving my tattoo where it's at now as to not have to deal with this anymore. Note to business owners- don't broadcast on your business social media your plans when you call in "sick"!
Also to note, I tipped 20% every visit and always thanked him by name, he only referred to me by my phone number despite me introducing myself multiple times. I do enjoy my artwork. The experience however was not enjoyable. read more
