We went on one of the many trails around here, and it was absolutely stunning! The views on this…read moretrail are breathtaking--definitely worth the effort. It's a loop hike, and we preferred doing it clockwise. This way, the climb felt more gradual at first and gave us those rewarding canyon-top views with the canyon on one side and the ocean on the other. There's also a little waterfall and a lively stream running through the trail (we went in July, and the water was still flowing nicely). Be prepared--the ascent can be quite steep in parts, but the payoff at the top makes it all worth it. Facilities are only available at the trailhead, so plan accordingly. Dogs are allowed, but they should be kept on a leash. Parking is a bit tricky. The lot only seems to hold about 30 ish cars. I would say on the moderate / hard side.

Solstice Canyon is one of those places that quietly reminds you why Malibu is special. The trail is…read moreeasy and well-maintained, but still feels like you've stepped away from the city and into something calmer. The creek, little waterfalls (especially after rain), and the ruins tucked into the canyon make the walk interesting without feeling crowded or overwhelming. What I love most is how peaceful it feels. You get ocean air drifting in, birds everywhere, and just enough shade to make it comfortable even on warmer days. It's perfect for a relaxed hike, a slow morning walk, or taking out-of-town friends who want something scenic without a hardcore climb. Parking can fill up, especially on weekends, but once you're on the trail it's totally worth it. If you're looking for a mellow hike with history, nature, and classic Malibu vibes, Solstice Canyon is a solid choice.

I needed to see the green, get fresh air and just get back into my own zone because of the funk I've been in. Being here help me think of good times I've been to stairs, or on a trails I've been on. People I've gone on hikes with or even loved ones for their first time. The views got me out of my own mind and really gave me clarity of where I should be and where I'm heading. God reveals all and have me see things which I appreciate the good and the bad. And it really shows me I need to be where I need to be. I am willing to take more adventures soon with the bus and just humbling myself as a post I posted on social media about me remaining with an open heart to see what life has to offer now. In the beginning, there is a split, make sure to go left up the ridge. Not quite sure where the trail going right takes you. There is a bit of rock scrambling but I did not have any difficulties getting past it. As you near the top, there is a rock where the American Flag use to be located. This does require some climbing, so be careful. If you don't want to try that, hike past the rock and continue on the small trail to Ladyface Mountain. Both location offers 360 views. When done, hike back down. There is no shades on this hike, so pack accordingly to the weather and have fun.

This unofficial trail is a short and exhilarating. The trail ascends a steep ridgeline that, from a…read moredistance, supposedly resembles a silhouette profile of a lady's face. If you didn't already know this information then I apologize in advance since, from this point forward, you will forever attempt to make-out the ridgeline facial image whenever you drive by. The trailhead can be a little hard to locate since it is unmarked. The best landmark is the sign pointing towards Silver Creek Rd. Park along the side of the road on the dirt. I recommend wearing really good hiking shoes since the steep grade, combined with the loose dirt, makes the trail real slippery especially as you head down the mountain. The 2-mile out and back trail can be somewhat intimidating, especially if you are afraid of heights. It's really not that dangerous. There are some areas where the trail becomes narrow along the steep hillside. I surprisingly saw a number of families with young kids and pets. I suspect they didn't make it all the way to the end. The jagged volcanic rock outcrops make you feel as if you are walking along the spine of the mountain. I made it 0.6-miles before I decided to turn back. It was a little too steep for my liking. There was an American flag was waving to me in the distance encouraging me to continue on but I had to decline. I read that the final portion involves some rock climbing. If you're feeling less adventurous, and if you are interested in more of lower altitude adventure, then you may want to try the lower trail located one mile down the road. It curves around the backside of Ladyface Mountain. It's also 2 miles out and back. You will see signage in front of a metal gate. After a short distance you'll come across a monument commemorating David Balch who once owned and later donated this property to the state for preservation. Bear left at the junction with the monument. The trail takes you down into a canyon and then back up a mountain to the rear area of Ladyface Mountain. There are interesting rock outcroppings covered with brightly colored lichen. It's fun to explore all of the different rock formations. You'll feel like you have been transported to another county. Chances are you will also be the only one there to enjoy it which is a bonus

As you arrive, the parking lot os small - i paid the 12 using the automated machine..others didn't and I did see the ranger post a few 70$ fines... Just pay the 12$. And others will park across the street, via the pch road...sketchy but accessible. The first mile is mostly road - private with a sand trail..once there, the park begins and heads towards the fall - with a few creeks and twists and turns. The falls has a nice rest stop with a bench for those who are weary. On the way back, the trail is easy to barely moderate. At the fork, before heading back to the main paved road, take a left to south east and another trail appears... its more rugged, people haven't been through here in a while... but you'll find a picnic table and a trail... once you arrive at the creek crossing, you'll find another 1/4 ?mile of trail left until you meet a deep steep canyon... return same way and back to the original trail. Overall, 4.5 miles to 5 mile trek. For all ages- overall not a very challenging run... but it was a nice outing. The brush on the south east side was a bit heavy- causing a few deep cuts... be careful and have fun and clean up after yourself. A strong 3.5 to 3.95
