Great, fresh pastries in the morning and dark roasted coffee. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Eclectic vibe, magazines up the wall and tables for studying.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Friendly staff.

    Breakfast burrito

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Vibes are amazing. The inside is spectacular.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is under no circumstances a $7 breakfast burrito. This is a tortilla with like one egg and two very small diced potatoes. My hand is both wider and longer than this burrito. What a rip off.

Grab yourself a cup of delicious coffee to go or to stay. Watch, read, or discuss news. Study, work and hangout. Bulldog news also entertains free poetry nights and jazz music, go to their website or instagram for more information. Wait, There's more, they've got some foods and yummy ice-cream. You can't miss this spot during the summer days in Washington. Coffee: traditional macchiato and traditional con panna, both 5/5!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I love that this place is a little store plus a walk-by coffee shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It also has a cute outdoor area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The coffee is just okay, but [[HIGHLIGHT]]In terms of vibes and environment this is the best coffee shop in U District.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ample coffee and pastry choices, lots of seating, and you can buy a little greeting card on the way out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My rating for this place is for its unique ambiance. It's very nice with all the magazines around the place and you can easily get lost here. Coffee was average and the croissants were on the greasy end. Maybe they are the last ones in the batch because my friends mentioned that they are pretty good.

A charming spot to work (if you can stand some slightly-more-than-ambient noise), meet up with a group, and/or people watch. Though their food/drink is not exceptional, the ambiance is simply Iconic (and bears all the wear & tear deserving of that title). I typically come in the mornings for a reasonably-priced breakfast sandwich. Be warned: the seats fill up with students around noon, and people really linger despite the 1.5 hour WiFi limit -- no surprise, since Bulldog News really has it all!

Spot with a lot to offer with great reads, drinks, and dessert like ice cream. I stopped by for the ice cream so that's what I'm focusing on. They use Full Tilt! However, they do close early so it's not really a good dessert spot most of the time as it closes before the average dinner. Ice cream is great anytime though, so that's a plus. Come here for more affordable basic flavors versus the fancier ice cream on the ave and also get a read in while you're here.

Yeah there are magazines from indie or chain bookstores or local grocery racks by the checkout. Or you can have a daily feed online. But there's something about periodicals one can actually hold and thumb through. Actual newsstands are a rarity these days. When in Seattle's University District (The Ave/University Way), definitely Bulldog News is a nostalgic blast from my UW college past. Such staying power after all these decades. And no, I wasn't dealing with stone tablets back then. lol Excellent variety of reading material available, an onsite cafe/walk up window, and tiny parklet seating for a quick stop.

Simply good ice cream. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool shop too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was fun to look around![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Servers were kind as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside and it was perfect![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I adore this spot. Upon moving here a year ago to the UW far from home (ohio) and knowing literally no one in this area, as the pandemic fell upon us, I happened upon this neat store..It has kinda become a "home base" for me on the ave, just about every other morning i come down the hill from my morning walk & i take in it's beautiful little outdoor sitting area as the sun rises to hear my audio books and my husband makes trips up later in the day to purchase these delicious rolls for our breakfast and the paper. I have taken photos of some of their incredibly beautiful flower boxes, that i have to truly compliment on how refreshing it is to see something so beautiful so far from anywhere truly "green."

About two weeks ago, my favorite K-pop group, LE SSERAFIM, was in town and during the encore, they came out in full UW gear. After researching, I found out that the gear was from University Book Store. I really wanted to buy the hat that Chaewon wore and was able to find and buy one there. It was a University Book Store exclusive printed/embroidered on '47 brand Hat. There is a reason I am telling this story though! While I was there, I looked around and see what kind of merchandises they were selling and I noticed that they have done collaboration with quality brands such as Lululemon, Champion (reverse Weave), Adidas, '47 Brand, New Era, etc. Clearly, whoever is in charge of designing the fan gear here knows what they are doing. They also had a clearance section upstairs with items marked down up to 50%. If you're a current UW student or UW Alumni and haven't been here in recent years like me, I highly recommend checking it out. Check out my photos of all the UW gears that LE SSERAFIM members wore during the concert.

I've also noticed that books are arranged similarly to Barnes & Noble. I've been told that the books are carefully arranged and sorted via subcontracted by Barnes & Noble, so if you're interested in that, this is definitely the place for you. The prices are a bit high, but they do go back into student support and activities, so it's a good investment. Also, there is a 20% discount or specific dates and timelines along with promotionals for students. but I don't think that these discounts apply to text books. I definitely recommend a university bookstore.

I had the opportunity to stop by this afternoon (12/31/23) to browse and drop off many retail bags for reuse. Seattle Records is adjacent to the retail and art gallery featuring works from Ryan Henry Ward. The individual at the shop was really welcoming. We had a nice convo about various other indie vinyl shops here in Seattle and across the sound. I enjoyed perusing the collection while listening to Sade and Heart. It was predominently vinyl, but there were CDs abd cassettes too. I was told that today's special was buy two albums, get one free. I lucked out when looking through the local Northwest artists and found three recent limited edition albums from Sky Cries Mary. This was quite the spontaneous splurge, but lucked out that one album was autographed by the band. Seattle has many indie record shops with their signature vibe. The collection here seems to be well curated, a little bit of this and that, spanning various styles and time frames.
