Had an Oatmilk mocha. It did not disappoint! Not too sweet which is how I prefer my mochas to be. You can tell they have use real high quality cocoa. The barista was friendly and the ambiance made me want to go to school all over again so I could sit and study there while enjoying my coffee. read more

Not sure why this company isn't 5 stars. This exceeds any expectations of a coffee shop. Barista is friendly. We got the chai, hot coco and mocha which was all delicious. The book selection is amazing! The vibes are chill and a fun place to read while you enjoy your coffee with a great selection of books. And the fact that they don't believe in tips makes me want to come back as funny as it sounds. They pay their employees fair wages where tips aren't encouraged. You can enjoy your coffee because it'll be made the same whether or not you tip. As crazy as it sounds. read more

What an adorable coffee shop and bookstore combo! I had an hour or so before a work meeting nearby, so thought this would be a great place to pop in and get a few emails done! I grabbed one of their seasonal coffees and a pastry. Both were delicious! However, I would definitely come here for the ambiance; I love being surrounded by books and, while the selection is small, it is well stocked with everything from YA to romance to a robust nonfiction section. read more

This shop has me torn. I've visited a couple times and I enjoy the overall retro design of the shop, the mid-century modern furniture, the book shelves and coffee gear offerings, but the coffee and food has been just ok. I most recently ordered the KyotoBot coffee which is made from their cold percolation towers and it reminded me of a cut cold brew, just not as exciting as I was hoping. Also ordered a lye roll which was kinda dry but I didn't have super high expectations for it. The baristas were chill and they had some retail roasts for $15 at 12oz so I appreciate that. Came by here on a Friday around 10:30AM and it was busy! Luckily I was able to snag a high top chair looking out the window. I ordered their seasonal rosemary latte ($7.50). It was very warm and frothy, with a subtle rosemary taste. I'm pretty sure they make their syrups in-house so they had a few options to select from. They also have the assortment of Torani syrup flavors to choose from too. The two making my coffee and taking my order were very helpful and nice to chat with as I was deciding which drink to order. Patio out back. Only complaint is parking is an absolute nightmare. This is more of a "locals" communicty cafe that you walk or bike to. There is literally no parking lot or street parking. I came to Fuel around 9:30 AM on a Wednesday, desperate for a place to sit and take a work meeting. Having simply looked on maps for the nearest cafe, I'm fortunate to have ended up here - the cutest coffee shop with lots of seating, large tables, a bright atmosphere, and enthusiastic baristas. It was relatively quiet at this time, great for my call. I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk and vanilla as a sweetener. Note that the matcha they use is unsweetened, but they offer sweeteners such as vanilla and honey to customize your drink. Kudos to the barista for letting me know this up front! The latte itself was more on the milky side, but that's what I prefer anyway. I can tell that this is a place that takes care of its customers. When I told the barista that I was running late for a meeting as I was waiting to pay (you pay when you receive your drink), I asked her if I could pay up front and pick it up from the counter when I could. She was so nice as to just place it next to me while I was sitting at my meeting, which I appreciated so much! The only downside is that there's not a designated parking lot, but know there are a lot of street parking spaces nearby. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area! read more

This is such a cute and lovingly decorated coffee shop. When we came in they were giving out free drip coffees and free cardamom lattes. We had the (free) cardamom latte and a matcha one, to which both pleasantly surprised us! I probably wouldn't have tried the cardamom latte if it wasn't free (had no clue what that would taste like!), and I'm really glad I was enticed to get it. The people who work here also seem to care for each other, and really their business and customers as well. I found in the bathroom a collection of menstrual products for customers to take if they needed some. Rare to find that at businesses! Great coffee but prices are higher than advertised. I checked on their website menu and it says $2.95 for 8 oz drip to go, $5 for berry scone. I saw upon arriving that the coffee is now $3.20, ok no big deal, website hasn't been updated. However my order of these two items came to $9.59. Even with 10.25% sales tax it is not that high. I wasn't given the option to add a tip so I did wonder if tip is included and if so, that's fine, but it didn't say that anywhere so I'm left to assume tip was not included. Also the scone was wrapped in plastic and appeared to be day old, was definitely not fresh that day and other scones were under glass and not plastic wrapped. I understand if there is no discount but I was still a little set aback at the $9.59 price on a day old scone and small drip to go. Won't be returning. Despite this the coffee was good. The barista was so friendly & really knowledgeable about the coffee. I love the bright ambiance and the fact that they have a ton of seating and books! My latte was super smooth and had a really cute latte art heart. Just moved to the neighborhood and this will be my go-to spot. The music was pleasant and not too loud. Would definitely bring my laptop to work a bit or go to read. They sell coffee beans and can also grind them for you. Will try next time! read more

I only give them 4 out of 5 (let's round up to 4.5) because the menu is so basic, there's no parking (even though I walked to it - still helpful to note) and it's kinda pricey. They have safety precautions in place, however with the register being so close to the door if there is any noise on the street it's hard to hear the barista. Aside from the basic coffee choices, there was also food available, but only limited quantities of the pastries. I got a cappuccino (plain, 8oz - $4.50 or maybe it was $5?) and a chocolate muffin ($??). Total came to $10.73...so IMO that was a bit pricey for what I got... Cappuccino was pretty standard though tasty, I just forgot how small 8oz actually was! The muffin was very moist, however it got less tasty as I ate through it and I did not finish it... Maybe it was vegan or organic or took the flavor of the bag it was in, I'm not sure...but I'd stick to just "coffee" if I were to go back. read more

After a long day wandering around Seattle, a little pick me up was exactly what I needed. I stopped in at Fuel to sit down for a few minutes, sip on a cappuccino, and bounce. I ordered an 8 oz almond milk cappuccino. I believe it came out to about $4.50 or so. I wasn't all too sure about a cappuccino with almond milk, but it was wonderful. The barista was able to foam it in a way that the almond milk was light and airy just like a regular cap. I sat by a window, sipped, rested my feet, and went on my way about 15 minutes later. This spot has plenty of spaces to sit inside, lots of natural light (my happy heart), lots o plants (my happy heart, again), free wifi, bathrooms, and parking spaces along the side of the building. Now it is NOT CLOSED. It is back and really great. We love the spacious bright store with lots of new books. It is a couple blocks away from a part of Arboretum which is a big plus for somebody who just wants to stop by for a cup of coffee. Also it's very close to the library so it's perfect for somebody who wants to take a little break after the library and go there. I was in the area recently and decided to pop in for a drink. The gal working seemed friendly enough and there was plenty of seating around (indoors and on that 'patio' out back). Perfect for relaxing for a moment, getting some reading/work done, or having a meeting (for fun or work). The coffee for some reason seemed to cost more than I wanted to pay at that moment, so I decided to go for an Italian Soda instead. They have a nice selection of drinks and some great looking snacks as well. They have very standard drink offerings but what really stands out is the nice vibe inside. Jetlag it is hard on our first official day in Seattle, so we were up bright and early. Luckily, Fuel opens at 7:00 AM. We were able to snag a breakfast as well as some delicious drinks. I got a latte. While the foam design was a little underwhelming, this latte was strong and flavorful! The interior is extremely welcoming and great for conversation. Fuel Coffee is a cheap place for a cheap drink if you're coming for chai. Great location for if you're coming from a walk around the many parks around here. I was wanting a nice wake up to my morning before going to the Arboretum just half a mile away from here and saw they had good coffee so they should have good chai. I was sadly disappointed. The drink was bland and very watered down compared to most chai teas I've had. As for aesthetics and location it's a pretty good place. It's nice and homely that the baristas add to comfort wise (they're very nice!). The reason I like this place the most is how it's between two or three parks: the Arboretum, Interlaken, and Volunteer Park. As for a date! It'd be a nice place to study with your partner or come in for a nice warm up after a quiet walk in the wonderful arboretum just 4 blocks away. read more

Great neighborhood establishment to get some work done, read a book, or chat with friends. I went around 2 pm on a weekday and there wasn't many people there, which was nice. However, I was disappointed that the wifi was pretty slow even though the place wasn't even half full. Prices and coffee are comparable to the rest of Seattle. I would say the best part about this place is it doesn't seem to be as busy as some of the coffee shops in U District or Cap Hill and since there's neighborhood parking, you can drive here if you have a car. They also have other drink options (juice, la croix, etc.) if you're not in the mood for coffee. read more

Gorgeous coffee shop with great seating areas. Big windows give you a great view of the road, and a nice seating area outback is a great place to read. I got an americano which was delicious. The hand pies were good. I tried the taco/burrito type things, but it was mid day and they could not have been more soggy and gross. The pastries looked good, although I have not tried one. The service is quick and they guy working was very nice. It is also a small book store with some good reads. Definitely a nice place to work or relax. read more
