The studio is spotless and the staff is incredibly welcoming, especially for someone who is newer to yoga like me. Unfortunately, there are only a couple of teachers left that I really enjoy, and the studio just doesn't seem to be managed well anymore. The final straw was being charged $210 on June 15 without my permission. I never asked to buy more credits, and no credits were even added to my account. I've been calling every few days for almost a month, and while the girls at the front desk have always been friendly and apologetic, they say they can't do anything without the manager. The manager has known about this for weeks and still hasn't returned a single phone call. Mistakes happen--I get that. But completely ignoring a loyal customer who has supported your business for years is not okay. Buyer beware. If something goes wrong with your account, don't expect anyone in management to call you back or make it right

I've found most studios in the area a little too overwhelming, too full of skinny devotees who are fanatically enthusiastic and at the same time in dire need of a cookie. I lovingly think of these people as "Yoga-nuts." I found Hummingbird almost accidentally when a friend posted about their massage services. Hm, hadn't heard of this place. Oooh! They have Sunday morning meditation! Drop in! So I donned my baggy sweats, put on my most comfortable tie-dye shirt and headed down there to check it out, slightly nervous about the whole yoga-nut crowd. Hummingbird is lovely, a comfortable, serene space and Linda is as down to earth as it gets. She is not perfect, and she is one with her not perfectness, and she is happy to have you on the journey with her. Meditation with her is peaceful and enriching. I find myself looking forward to getting up on Sunday mornings for my hour of tranquility. Intimidated by the Yoga-Nut culture? Looking for a place not full of Lululemon and VitaminWater? After 90 days of visiting this studio regularly, I decided that this wasn't the place for me. It was a tough choice. I slept on it for many weeks. See below for cons and pros. Cons...let's get the poopy stuff out of the way first --Steep pricing; I chose the monthly unlimited for $145. Classes are not cheap here, but neither is the quality of instructors. It's the age old conundrum of you get what you pay for. --Very cliquey: The other clientele do not tend to be overtly friendly to newcomers. This studio also attracts some very experienced, intense yogis. Sometimes these folks are a lil too intense a.k.a. they take themselves a little too seriously. This might just be a me thing though; I need a studio where the emphasis is more on human connection and joy than on entering a contest of wills to see who can breathe the loudest and be the most detached. --Limited access to instructors: the instructors typically enter the studio right before class and beat feet immediately after Savasana wraps, which makes it hard to build a rapport with these amazing instructors and, above all, who doesn't want to build a rapport with one's yoga instructor? --Awkward encounter: Speaking of Savasana, I inadvertently walked in on a class that was running a little bit late. Totally accidental but so not a huge deal as I was being pin-drop quiet. The instructor at the other end of the room emphatically waved her arms at me -- I suppose the equivalent of yelling with hands -- and gestured very demonstratively towards the door. I slinked out of the room. The lady apologized later, but she totally over-reacted. Her arm waving made more noise than did my footsteps. And besides, I exit and enter the studio at least once during each class to pee. Sometimes even during Savasana. I never get waved away. Probably because I'm being visibly respectful and audibly noiseless. Not sure why this particular instructor was so offended. --I wish the studio floors were a little cleaner, but by no means were they disgusting. Pros...and there are many! --Instruction: These instructors give amazing instruction. I went to a variety of classes, and I was always blown away by how methodical, detail oriented, and knowledgeable these instructors are. A few of these instructors embrace a more spiritual mindset rather than physical exertion. I really enjoyed the spiritual overtures. It made for a more connected, joyful practice. I loved whenever the instructors would give a brief summary of a passage from the owner's book. Put good vibes in the air. --The owner: The owner is exceedingly friendly and exceedingly accessible. I wish the many knowledgeable instructors at YogaLife would take a page from his book since they read from it so frequently -- especially the oddly aloof cadre of students who are working towards certification. --The receptionist: One of the receptionists -- a younger woman -- was always super welcoming, warm, and extremely pleasant. I loved interacting with her! She has a very inclusive mindset, which I found very inviting. I found many of the other receptionists to be polite and courteous as well. --Variety of classes: This facility boasts two massive studios in which many different offerings are available throughout any given day. Variety of levels offered here is also a huge plus. --Location Location Location: Conveniently located off of major thoroughfares. --Peaceful environment: Although located off of major thoroughfares, both studios are calm, peaceful, and conducive to relaxation. --This studio offers really neat seminars. I never attended any due to scheduling conflicts, but I was intrigued nonetheless! --Amenities: There are massage therapists, acupuncturists, and therapists/social workers who meet with clientele on-site, which is dope AF! I never had a chance to use any of these services, so I can't speak to the quality. I've also never seen most of these services collocated with a yoga studio, but this combo makes perfect sense!

Yoga Home is a local gem. If you are considering joining a yoga studio, you really should consider…read moredoing your practice here. First off, the studio has a core belief that "Yoga Is For Everybody" and you will see a wide mix of ages, levels & body types practicing in this studio. There are hard classes and classes intended to chill & relax you. There are many challenging classes for the limber & athletic, as well a broad variety of classes for folks who are more physically challenged. Besides the Vinyasa & Flow classes commonly found at other locations, there is also a wide selection of specialty classes such as Adaptive Yoga, Chair Yoga, Pre & Post Natal Yoga, Yin Yoga (a personal favorite) Hot Yoga and even the occasional Sun night "Yoga Nedra," which is intended to relax you & take your mind somewhere else. The instructors are all excellent at what they do. They each have their own style but it is always welcoming & supportive. Most have been teaching there for years and they really watch & get to know their students, often suggesting a pose adaptation or handing you an extra prop, before you even knew you needed it. The physical studio has some real advantages over other locations I have experienced. First off, it is small. You are never far from the instructor and never buried 6 rows back. The room is kept comfortable with good AC in the summer & well heated in the winter. Unlike some dusty floor studios I have experienced, they keep the space clean and you can tell it is well loved. Perhaps the most important hidden feature of this studio is, unlike most studios in strip malls or rock centers or multi-activity gyms, that have concrete floors, Yoga Home is in an old building and the finished studio floor is over 100 year old wood framing (over a basement.) Unlike a concrete sub-floor found in most commercial locations, which is hard & unyielding, Yoga Home wood framed floor has a tiny amount of give. If you ever did yoga on vinyl tile over concrete, you will understand how important this subtle & relatively rare physical really feature actually is. I have done yoga, off and on for over 30 years. I have done it in studios, in churches, in high school classrooms, in racket clubs & gyms, on carpeted floors and on the grass at festivals. I was also a member of Yoga Home, at its old (larger) location before the pandemic closed it. Every time I try another studio I keep coming back to this one for the reasons listed above. It may not have the most bling or rows of exercise machines & free weights or a rock climbing wall, but, if you are looking for a well run, high quality, yoga studio, where the instructors are all committed to their teaching & care about their students, you won't go wrong with Yoga Home. It is a real Conshy gem.

It can be very intimidating to pursue hobbies and try to build new skills as an adult, but I finally set out to try yoga after 2 years of contemplation. Jolly Llama, and the wonderful instructor Jackie, made it so easy. I instantly felt comfortable and continue to feel so whenever I come in, and I highly recommend their beginner's class if that's what you're looking for. My instructor Jackie has consistently been mindful and encouraging. It's nothing like I expected. Throughout the lesson she reminds us to thank ourselves for showing up, and check in with our spirits and our bodies. She makes you feel reassured that it's okay not to go through with a pose that your body isn't agreeing with, and always offers you alternative cozy poses when something that may be a bit challenging comes along. This has been key for me in learning something new. It's made it very easy to go with the flow and grow. An added bonus is that everyone here is so approachable, both staff and fellow classmates. I've noticed in many reviews about yoga studios in general that newcomers can feel an air of pretentiousness, or feel like they're walking into something cliquey; things of that sort that can make a person feel unwelcome. But there was NONE of that here! Nothing but smiles, kindness and uplifting energy. It really makes all the difference.
