Bullet Stop is your mom and pop style of gun shop. You walk in and it's nothing fancy. In fact it looks like a house that someone converted to a gun shop, which is what I think it is. They have a large selection of fire arms from modern to WW2. Many times they run specials for their firearms and ammo. I've bought a couple of firearms from them, I've been completely satisfied with what I bought. Nice folks, very friendly staff. They also have an indoor shooting range. You need to call ahead and make a reservation. As you get the entire range of 4 shooting stations to yourself. If you don't make a reservation you run the risk of walking in and them not having an opening at the time you get there. Do yourself a favor and call ahead. The only part of their range that bothers me is that you have to buy your ammo from them. You don't have the option of bringing your own. Their ammo is more expensive than if you order bulk online. The last time I went shooting, my wife and I both shot, 50 rounds, plus the range fee and tax, it came to $67.00. I believe if I read correctly that if you buy your sidearm from them, that you get to use the range for free. So keep that in mind if you are in the market. I will warn you that the parking is a little confusing. You actually park in what appears to be the lot of the business next to them and then pass through a gate in the fence to get to the shop. read more

This location did a firearm transfer from out of state for me, and I have purchased multiple firearms at this location. The expertise offered is above what I expected. There is a substantial variety of available firearms including very inexpensive pre-owned ones. I was given an excellent customer experience and have not purchased firearms elsewhere as a result. Some offerings are very peculiar and there is a good chance that rare piece you have wanted to add to your collection is sitting on the shelf waiting for you. read more

Very disappointed.. Made an appointment last week for tonight and verified twice that the range was free since we bought our guns there and were told we just had to buy ammo. Ok fine.. But then as we're leaving the older gentleman was very rude and made snarky comments towards us. And it seems like every time I'm in there I'm inconveniencing them. We got charged $10/person for the range.. He told us it had been in effect since April. But yet we were told twice last week when we made the appointment, when we purchased the firearm and it's listed on their website that if you purchase their ammo you get the range for free. When I moved to Northern IL I did not know the area. I found Bullet Stop and have been very happy with them. Prices are fair and they often have great sales that pop up so stop by often. I have also been able to meet some really great local people there and often find myself staying far longer engaged in conversation with those who share similar interests. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable and have worked with me to make sure I obtained the proper tools for the job. The only negative I have ever encountered is the difficulty in obtain range time but that is simply due to the popularity and great value their range offers vs others in town.
