The owner, if that was him, was nice and seemed somewhat knowledgeable. The employee working with him didn't give him or me the time of day. He constantly walked away and refused to look at any of the coins. That, right there, ruined my visit. I took my coins and left and drove over to Four Nines in Gilbert which took four hours looking at my coins and bought some for almost $1,600! Also, you were only interested in melting my old coins down. They (Four Nines) weren't because they took the time to look at my coins and US mint sets. Your loss. Their win. You need a different employee who actually likes what he does and treats customers with respect and doesn't pay attention to you or the customers. I had a very positive experience dealing with the Bullion and Coin Exchange. I've purchased both gold and platinum bullion from the Exchange, and always received my orders quickly, along with a tracking numbers sent to me in advance. (I'm 3.5 hours north of the Exchange in Oklahoma City.) So many people get frustrated when their bullion orders don't come in quickly, but they fail to recognize that a) there can be glitches in any delivery system, and that b) most precious metals are shipped with signature confirmation required upon delivery. (A consumer has to be both diligent and patient when purchasing precious metals to be delivered on site.) I myself don't care for numismatics, but know many "coin people" in Dallas who patronize the Exchange for collectible coins and other currency. All I've spoken to have had great things to say about their dealings. Their bullion prices are comparable to nearby "big boy" JM Bullion, and the service I've received from the Exchange was equally warm and friendly. (That's always a huge bonus.) Dear business owner, I came into your store for the first time today looking for a specific item. You didn't have it but you did have lots of cool stuff and I had money I was willing to spend. Unfortunately (for you) I left without spending a cent, I will never return and I will tell anyone who asks what a terrible business you are running. When I asked if you would be willing to knock what amounted to less then one half of one percent off the price of something you chose to belittle me. Had you responded with a polite "no" I would have paid the price you were asking and I would have spent thousands of dollars in your store in the future. Instead, you laughed at me and had there been any other customers in the store I might have been embarrassed but luckily (for me, not you) there weren't. In closing, your business exemplifies everything that would turn a new collector such as myself off driving all the way to a coin store instead of just buying stuff online. It's in a terrible part of town. It's cramped. It smells unpleasant. It's "family run" (i.e. the woman behind the counter was holding an infant and eating food). The person I worked with knew exactly what I needed, and in one case gave me some advice that saved me a lot of money. They also always have in stock what I am looking for, which is important when prices are fluctuating rapidly and waiting for a shipment could mean a significant loss of value. I always call around for quotes first, and in all three cases B&CE had the best rates. My transactions have been fairly simple, though, so I cannot say how large or more complex ones might be handled, but I would still look here first if I were in that position. read more

i have made several purchases from this store, going back more than a year. i used to live in mesa and at the time it was the closest location to me. when i made the move to the west valley, i continued to purchase my silver from these guys, because i knew them and trusted them. today i made a purchase of 10 oz. silver. i walked into the store expecting to purchase 11 oz, and had checked the spot price (35.00) before i began my 40 minute commute to their location. their store advertises 2.00 over spot, i had $407 even and was surprised to hear the gentleman (who i presume to be the owner) that silver was trading for $38 dollars today, as if it were a matter of fact. the gentleman did not bother to check the spot price as is tradition, with the internet never more than 11 feet away. because i have all but 4 oz of my silver at this location, i trusted that silver had made a $1 jump on my commute and purchased 10 oz. another 40 minutes later, i get back to my computer to find that at the exact moment my silver was purchased, spot price was $35. i got screwed $10. unfortunately, $10 is enough to make me never step foot in that store again. read more
