Update to my previous review. Been going here for four years. This vet does care and seeks to provide great service and care. I do recommend this vet for a local option in Bullitt county. They were able to work in my hound in for an emergency visit recently. This is as of 9/4/2024. Prices are fair too. I know some expressed comments that they are overpriced, but margins are tight in this business and their prices are justified. read more

We took our dog here to get his shots and ear medicine. The doctors and secretary staff were very friendly and took care of our dog. We will be back the next time he needs to visit. read more

Over priced! They run unnecessary test to jack your bill up. Sent my cat home with NO meds. She had an UTI, all she needed was a dropper of antibiotics. They didn't have an appt available, so they fit her in, in-between appointments. They never called about updates,I had to call through out the day, never once spoke to the VET, no one can go into the office. My cat sat up there from 9am to 6pm. They said she needed an IV of fluids, blood work, blah blah. $350 later my cat still wasn't any better. I call 3 days later, telling them she needs a dropper of antibiotics. FINALLY I get what she needed. Now she is feeling much better and going inside the litter box. Bullitt co vet wants to see my cat back in 2 weeks, why so you can rip me off another $350, I think not!! Never again!! The entire experience made me miss my old vets, Wood and Grimes which had to close, they were the best! read more

I love the staff here! The receptionists are are always kind and very informative. Even during Covid, if I don't talk to the vet, the tech will explain everything. Rude, incompetent and dirty! Don't go there! Charged for X-rays that were unreadable. Did they retake them, hell no! Then sent my dog to Bluepearl, a specialist that requires a referral. Where she died 19 days later. My dog Dee Dee had DJD, arthritis and was only six years old. Was treated for Lyme disease, that she didn't have. Bullitt county veterinarian center was fully aware through faxes of this bogus diagnosis. It could of been stopped. Dee Dee died of liver failure, caused from prednisone, pain meds among other drugs. Went in for an occasional limp and came out in a box! I have her records and diagnostics that back up what I just explained. Zero stars!!!!! read more

This vet and his staff are amazing. He saved our dog's eye, and once handled our having to assist our old boy over the rainbow bridge. It was so beautifully done. He took us out to the yard, settled us in, helped our boy and us..... it was so sweet. Great people. read more

I took my 1 1/2 year old shihpoo there on 7-2-12 was really happy with the service. My appointment was at 9am I was out by 10am. I thought it was the fastest appointment I had been too! Oreo got his bordetella vaccine updated and fecal exam done it was only 18 dollars you can't beat that. The only downfall is the drive from my house its 20 minutes, but that's not bad at all. The vet has been practicing since 1978 in Shepherdsville, and I thought he was very good with Oreo. However Oreo did try to snip at him. So I'm not for sure if he is a fan of the Bullitt Co. Veterinary Center lol! read more

I love Bullitt County Vet. Dr. Schaaf and his employees are great. They are knowledgeable and friendly. They treat my animals like they are part of their family. They are a family business and it shows in the way you are treated. They really care about all animals. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. For the sake of your amazing pet, do not go to this place. The doctor here seemed clueless on both of our visits concerning my dogs allergies. Was not informative at all about the x-ray results for my dog and didnt even show them to us. read more

Took our dog for a yearly exam. We waited for 30 minutes and then it took an hour after we were back in the room. It was dirty and smelled. Staff was not very professional. read more

I am new to the area, and I seen the big giraffe outside and thought "oh, this seems like a nice little place to take your pet" WRONG! Heed my warning when I say this...When I walked in the place smelled like pee and dirty animals, but that didn't frighten me because hey its a vet! I signed in and the lady in the front was super nice we chatted back and fourth for a bit. She called me back and got my dogs weight, and put us in a room. The assistant came in and got info and what we needed and she was super nice as well. She took my dog and ran tests and took blood and brought her back to me, no big deal standard stuff. I wanted the vet to take a look at my dog I noticed a spot on her that I wanted him to see. So while we are waiting for the vet. We seen TWO different families walk out crying and the assistants apologizing to them because they couldn't save the pet...okay I know things happen but TWO in the same day. I was a bit frightened by that. So the vet finally came in and looked at me didn't smile or introduce himself or anything. Just said "well what is it" so I showed him the spot and he looked at it said a few things and walked out. The assistant came back in an ran a culture, AGAIN...super nice girls! Then the vet came in and again was cold gave my dog her shots. Didn't try to comfort her or anything and my dog gets very nervous and drools...terribly. He walked out after giving her shots and before he shut the door he looked at someone and said with a smart a** tone "ugh, that was fun" ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I have done nothing to you! Then after waiting an hour he comes back in and gives me some special shampoo didn't tell me the results of her blood work just left the chart on the table and walked out. So I waited there an additional 30 minutes and then finally asked the assistant "can we go he didn't say anything and I wanted to see the results of her blood work" she came in and looked at the chart and said "oh, it's all in the chart you're all done". Wow, he could have went over that with us and said "okay, you're done". Nope just sat the chart down and walked out and didn't say anything. Not nice to meet you or anything. If I didn't see his name on the wall I wouldn't have a clue what his name is. I'm sorry but that was thee most unprofessional place I have ever been. The assistants were very nice and I liked them. I can only imagine how they get treated if he treats his customers that way. He was rude and unprofessional and I will not be back! I'm sorry I had to pay him 200 dollars for horrible service. Do your self a favor and STAY FAR AWAY!! Only reason this got 2 stars is because the girls were so nice! read more

This vet wanted to charge me $550 to stitch a small cut on my dogs foot. Being everything else was closed I had him preform it. He did the stitching wrong and it mangled my dogs foot so bad that part of it had to be amputated by another vet who told me it should have only cost $70. He was also very rude to deal with at first. I don't suggest going here. read more
