I have been a customer of Bulls Eye shooting supplies for several years and have found myself happy with this eclectic and unique shop. The biggest elements going for this shop are the breadth, selection, widespread knowledge and smorgasbord of items. What this means is that unfortunately, the prices are a little on the high side but Paul is entitled to own a living. It's one thing to buy a pallet at a time of a few hot selling items and quite another to have a few of just about every round, accessory, sight, powder, bullet, primer, brass imaginable. While buying ammo online is certainly more affordable, the bulk purchases necessary make it a daunting expense, whereas if you just want a few boxes of various factory loadings chances are you can find at least a box or two on the shelf. For this reason alone I like to come by here and like a kid in a candy store see all kinds of unusual type of ammo or loads in a given caliber or just about any accessory one can imagine. If you are looking for reloading equipment, information, suggestions or ammunition for a rare and unusual gun, this is your place. You will find everything from the everyday rimfire, 9mm, 223 or 308 many of which are competitively priced in their bulk types all the way to difficult to find 32 cal or semi obsolete cartridges like 30 40 Krag.
The owner has a remanufacturing license so for pistol rounds you can trade in your brass for discounts in order to buy the least expensive ammo on the market, the remanufactured Bullseye brand ammo. Because their press is automatic this service is fast and cheap but the ammunition is also of slightly lower quality in that some of the lower pressure cartridges shoot a bit more dirty though the magnums or rifle rounds' higher pressure ensures a better burn. It's not a bad thing as it's safe, well within the allowable charge densities, recoils a bit less compared to standard factory loads to boot and shoots well. Not all of us can afford to buy entire pallets of bulk ammo from MidwayUSA or take the time to reload and because of this service the little guy of modest means can still enjoy such low prices accordingly. As a plus, for rifle cartridges if you ask nicely and give the owner some lead time you leave a minimum of 100 spent brass to make it worth his while and he will hand load it for you so you can save a few bucks here as well.
I can see a few scattered negative reviews about management being a little curt; the truth is that they don't tolerate fools, attitude or BS. If you need help they are helpful, if you know what you are doing they are useful, and as long as you don't waste their time they are very respectful. I have never had a problem but be careful to not give any attitude as snowflakes, crazies, loonies, felons or anyone else you can think of that you yourself would not want around you are not welcome here. I have seen people annoy the daylights out of them, think about the scene in Bigfoot where the crazy guy asks "I WANT A FULLY AUTOMATIC ASSAULT RIFLE" (or some such) and imagine how you'd feel behind the counter dealing with such a character. If you know what you are talking about and show it by engaging in polite discussion, or if you don't know what you are talking about and act interested in their bank of knowledge that never ceases to impress you'll never have a problem.
What I like about this shop is the breadth of useful advice, people here know not just their guns from historical artifacts to the tacticool, but that there is a general high level of knowledge and professionalism about everything. I particularly appreciate that the owner, Paul, has a good story for just about everything you ask about because he has more or less seen it all and this level of expertise is not as common as you think in the industry.
If you're the regular guy who cannot afford a basement full of ammo but like to shoot regularly, this is the place for you. If you are well off and are looking for something special or different to add to your safe room room full of guns, this is also the place for you. And if you've been asking every gun store to fix, solve an issue or otherwise find a certain type of impossible to find ammo for you, this is your place as well. If you reload or are interested in having someone do it for you, rather than buy stuff online that you don't know if it might work or not or have your friend Bubba who tells you they have a press and are an expert but lack the license or insurance, then Bullseye with their huge expertise in the field is definitely for you. read more
