​I was looking to try something new and different in the local, and Bululu piqued my interest. It's located in a corner strip mall; parking was easy, though you might have a short walk depending on how busy it is. ​Inside, the decor is clean, festive, and inviting. Ordering is straightforward, you can check out the large stand-up display or grab a handheld menu. While the menu isn't huge, the options are intriguing. I opted for a customizable bowl ($12+), picking shredded beef, rice, black beans, plantains, and avocado. ​The highlight of the service was definitely the robot server that delivered my meal to the table! After grabbing my container and tapping "Done" on its screen, it played a cute sound and zipped back to the kitchen. ​The food itself was a solid win on flavor. Even though I ate in, the meal was served in a to-go container, and a couple of items needed sorting (the avocado had black spots, and one plantain piece looked a bit off). Once I set those aside, the rest was delicious. The flavorful beef, great rice and beans, and perfectly sweet plantains. ​Overall, it's a fun, satisfying alternative to typical fast-food chains. I have been here once before about a year ago for dinner with my boyfriend and it seemed that I failed to write a review for that visit and I can't find my food photos from back then. I came back for lunch today while in town and despite it being a year since my last visit, I remember that the food was definitely better on my last visit than it was today! Bummer. Still about 4 stars though. One thing I remember from my visit last year was just how dark they keep it in there. I get that it is important to save on electric bills, but it doesn't create the best atmosphere. Maybe invest in motion sensor lighting? I had fun looking around the huge space and taking pictures while I waited about 8 minutes for my food to be freshly prepared. I ordered one arepa with a meat mix and sweet plantains and a scoop of chocolate chip ice cream which came to $13 after tax and tip. Skip the ice cream - mine was covered in ice crystals and had a grainy taste. No me gusta. I love arepas and definitely thought mine was tasty but I think they should allow people to get up to 3 toppings in their arepa instead of just 2. My arepa definitely needed a sauce or veggie or some kind. The arepa is also not a great deal as it is 1 kind of small arepa for $8.50. The meat mix I chose was a good choice as the meat was juicy and the portion generous but I was a bit bummed I only had two thin slices of sweet plantains in my arepa. Ordering a combo is definitely your best bet to get the most for your money here. I was trying to keep my lunch small (I'll be having a big hibachi dinner tonight and don't want to be too full for that) but I didn't make the right choices at Bululu Tropical today. I'll be back for sure, but I'll definitely make a smarter food choice and avoid getting anything in the dessert freezer. Also, brush up on your Spanish before coming here! Haha! Bululu owes us money still after they had to cancel a takeout order (when we went to pick it up, they were unexpectedly closed, yet they still haven't refunded us or reimbursed us - over $100). This is going on several weeks now. Food was good in the past, but won't be going again unless they pay us the money they owe us! read more

I had a meal at Bululu today. I've never had Venezuelan cuisine before. The combo I had was delicious and honestly a bit too much food for me. The flavors were really interesting. The sauces were awesome. The meal was delivered by a robot which was a first for me. That was pretty cool. The human staff were funny and kind. The place is very nice inside and very clean. Went to Bululu tonight for the first time. While I've never been to Venezuela, the freshness of the food made me feel like I was in the Dominican again. To say it was fantastic is an understatement! We ordered from Door Dash pretty much blind, just from previous reviews. I don't eat this kind of comfort food that often but it really hit the spot tonight. The flavors were bold and blended well and I loved that the dishes were unlike anything I've had before. I had the mini Patacon which was delicious and very filling. My husband had the combo which he loved. I ordered the garlic sauce on the side but the regular sauces that came with it were just as good. Next time we'll eat in. read more

I was somewhat skeptical on what Venezuelan food would be like. I was pleasantly surprised. So tasty! Darn right savory. If you are looking for something new to try, give it a go- you won't be disappointed. Great service, they happily explained the menu, gave us an array of sauces on the side which all were remarkable. Portion size was large. Casual dinning in a clean up beat environment. Tasty, menu I believe is reasonably priced for what you get. Unique cheese sticks-yum. This place is wonderful! Inside it looks really cute, and they have put a lot of work into this space. The service has been wonderful both times we have visited. Very helpful and willing to answer any questions we had. Everything we have tried tasted amazing! So far we have had the shredded chicken, shredded steak, and the grilled steak. A new favorite of mine! Tried Bululu for the first time last evening and was very impressed with the food. I had an empanada and an arepa, both with black beans and cheese, and my boyfriend had the Cayo Sal combo. Everything we tried was delicious!! We loved the Latin music and the environment, and everyone working was very friendly. We will definitely be back, and I hope more people discover this little spot so it sticks around! This place is a real gem hidden away. The owners are so warm, welcoming and friendly. They really bring Venezuelan hospitality to the locale. I had the Bululu bowl with passion fruit drink. One sip of the passion fruit brings you back to the tropics. The restaurant decor makes you feel like you right on a beach side cabana. Will be back to try more of their food. read more
