I had a meal at Caracas Bistro. I decided to try the mini arepas and french fries. The service was friendly and really good! The restaurant is pretty cool inside. My issue is the food. I ordered a cheese arepa, Spanish chorizo arepa, and scrambled egg and cheese arepa. What I got was a cold piece of cheese in an arepa, sliced and grilled hot dog or some sort of Polish sausage in an arepa, and a sort of over easy egg and cheese in an arepa. The cold cheese seemed odd in a hot sandwich and it wasn't that good. The chorizo was not actual chorizo. Personally I really dislike over easy eggs...so that arepa was barely nibbled. So overall just disappointing. Frankly, making mistakes like this is a choice and not a good one. read more

When I know that a town has an arepas restaurant, the choice of where to eat becomes pretty easy. Service was prompt, portions were fair for the price, and my vegetarian arepa hit the spot. A shout out to the kitchen for their black bean recipe. It's packed full of flavor! My only critique is that I would have loved a sauce to drizzle on my arepa. Amazing dining experience! The food was SO good; the milkshake was delicious and served with a big straw, so you won't pop a blood vessel when trying to drink it. They're super clever with securing the mug with Nutella onto a plate (it is definitely needed with all of the generous toppings). This placed is tucked in to what looks like a cross between an industrial park and a storage place. Once inside, there is an immediate sense you have entered a different world. Service was quite helpful and there were clearly Venezuelans at home here. I got a huge feast of a sampler of various items, most of which I ended up taking with me. Some items are a bit different, so be advised. The desserts looked completely over the top (literally), so I recommend sharing both the meal and the dessert if you want to be able to carry yourself out. read more

They recently updated the menu and added a lot more! I've never had anything I didn't like here. I always want to try the milkshakes but I never have room at the end. The mega sampler was such a great addition for anyone new to Venezuelan food or for a couple wanting to split an appetizer or lunch. People often comment on the prices, but the portions are HUGE. That cachapa lasted my friend THREE meals. I took half the mega sampler home and it heated up so well in the air fryer. The only thing I would warn people is even though it is advertised as Venezuelan fast/street food, it is all made fresh and is not drive thru fast so it does take some time, but the wait is so worth it. read more

I was surprised to find Venezuelan food in South Bend but it did not disappoint! The arepas are a bit pricier than I'm used to, but they come PACKED with filling. 1 is enough to leave you satisfied. We got 3 and they were all tasty. The meat was never dry and it was seasoned well. Come for the arepas, stay for the milkshakes! This Venezuelan restaurant in Mishawaka has some delicious menu items and I settled on a chorizo arepa with a side of rice. I enjoyed it, but I think I would order something different next time. My friend got one that had beans in it as well as meat and I would have preferred that over just chunks of sausage. Massive portions, flavorful ingredients, friendly staff, fun dining room vibe. Our favorite item by far was the Llanera Fries - the best loaded fries ever! Steak, bacon, cheese, corn, avocado, cheese, and the awesome green sauce. It was supposed to be my entree even though it's in the appetizer section of the menu, but the waitress misunderstood me and brought it out first. We devoured it while the fries were still crispy. Everything else came out shortly after. A massive sandwich (only a double - imagine the large version!), a combination platter, yucca fries (tasty and crispy but needed a side of green sauce), and another dish with pork and cheese. I don't often get out this way, but had an extended errand in town and was told to check it out. I, personally, was mindblown. It's one of my top 5 restaurants just off the cuff. We came to try the milkshakes but were too full, and wished we could get them to-go knowing that's not realistically possible. it was very busy when we went, the hostess had us sign in for a 25+ minute wait. After a party disbanded we were sat and order taken in a good amount of time. All of the food was hot and fresh, our app came 5 mins before our entrees. I personally loved my order. I got a Venezuelan bowl with everything except sauce and it still wasn't dry. The empenada was a bit too sweet for my taste. My partner got a meat plate. I will say that they seemed like they were short of staff and were handling it gracefully. Switch the salt and pepper shakers. The pepper is hard to get out of the tall container and your food doesn't require salt. I loved that you had regular hot sauce and El Yucateco. That gives you a weak and soft hit with the sauce but if I were to suggest, switch to either Cholula or Tapatio, and keep the Yucateco but change it to the Chile Habenero. that way you get a little hot and a lot hot without losing taste. read more

Great experience. I ordered a pickup order at Caracas yesterday for my friend and I. The food was delicious and the service was next level. Food: we ordered arepas (that's a must) and the patacon. The Spanish chorizo arepa were flavorful, juicy and a little spicy, which is perfectly matched with the arepa buns. The patacon was also well-cooked, I love the shredded chicken and the cooked bananas! The staff in the store were very careful, friendly and masked up. This spot is open during COVID with distant indoor seating and mask requirement. That will have an impact on wait time but it is WORTH IT. This is one of those restaurants where the food had a nice visual appeal. Simply by looking at the sandwiches (pepitos), I could tell it was going to be flavorful. It definitely was! The sandwich had a plethora of textures (saucy, crunchy, chewy) which made it all that delicious. I recommend adding all of the sauces. And the single is large and will leave you very full. We didn't order the famous milkshakes because the sandwiches are filling but again, simply looking at them made us drool. Omg everything was so good and so fresh! Never eaten Venezuelan food before and it was very good!! We got the sampler. You get to choose what kind if arepa. We got the chicken, avocado, and mayo as one and another we got shredded beef and gouda cheese. The arepas were great flavored and a nice fry to it. The cachapa with fresh cheese on top had a tiny hint of sweetness to it and was tasty. The tequenos was like a pretzel with cheese inside. I also shared a platter with my friend. Forgot what the entree was called but def. a protein platter! Steak, chicken, grilled cheese, cheese stuffed arepas, plantains? And 2 different sausages. One I think was chorizo and the other was blood sausage which I was not fond of. Only bite we did not enjoy. Such a great local addition to our area that brings the taste if another culture in thus cookie cutter type of food culture here. Server was very nice, but I wish she would have told my husband how big the sandwich was that he ordered. Had she of, she would have gotten a 25 percent tip instead of 15 percent. We ordered fries, a sandwich, a pepito and a milkshake and it came to almost 79 dollars. The food was ok, but not worth the 79 plus 11 dollar tip. We can go to a steakhouse and not even pay this much. The food just wasn't 79 dollar good. We most likely won't be back. Too overpriced for what's given. read more
