Los Humildes is a wonderful local spot near South Bend. I stumbled upon it as a late night weekend option and was pleasantly surprised. The place has a large interior but was pretty quiet when I visited. They also have an extensive menu of Mexican cuisine. I ordered the taco dinner which allows you to choose different types of taco meats. All of the meat was well seasoned and packed with incredible depth of flavor. I really enjoyed the Al pastor and steak. The plate of tacos was tremendous, and it came with a side of rice and beans. For the price, the meal was amazing value and very filling. Moreover, our waitress was attentive and gave my group some great recommendations on what to order. She was very friendly and checked on my table often. Los Humildes is an underrated Mexican restaurant and definitely worth visiting if you're in South Bend. They have generous portions, nice atmosphere, and flavorful food! read more

This was pretty good. I tried the chicken, al pastor, and steak tacos. They were all very good. Chips and salsa and horchata were good. The guacamole needed some citrus and salt, which we requested. Service was friendly. read more

We stopped by after we went grocery shopping. We were hungry for nachos. Oh my gosh - they didn't disappoint! The platter was loaded with all the goodies!!! We absolutely will be back again! Next time our visit will include a trip to their fully stocked tequila selections!!! read more

It was horrible. We got there they sat us down immediately. We waited 15 minutes before they took our order. We ordered Horchata, they said it was gonna be like 5 minutes or so. 30 minutes pass we still haven't even gotten our drinks. We had also ordered a dip appetizer, still haven't got it, we finished the chips by then. Then she proceeds to take us One of the 4 drinks. Then finally goes for another one, she then asks if we want more chips, we say yes. Then we get our food not 5 even minutes after that. She asks if we want salsas, we say yes. She then leaves, 30 minutes pass by. We haven't gotten the Horchatas, no salsa, no chips, no appetizer, and No Bill. Don't recommend it. We needed good food and it was late! This met the mark! The enchiladas were delicious!

Food, the Chiles rellenos tasted like they have been premade and refrigerated, it not a good flavor. I had made several complaints in the past and management denied being something wrong with the flavor. The tostada de ceviche was good and the tacos are ok. The server can never get an special order right whenever you order a vegetarian item or a la carte chile relleno and continue bringing the full meal, I let it go and paid. Ambiance is ok , FYI they WILL add a service fee to every order 18% to 20%. Not going back. read more

Tried this place on the recommendation on someone else, now it's our favorite Mexican restaurant. We eat plant based, so mexican is always a good choice. This is not a fancy restaurant but is Clean and attractive. The owners actually work here and are very friendly and seem to appreciate our business. Our favorite dish is Vegetarian Fahittas , I like the fact that the veggies are not drenched in oil unlike Hacienda and other mexican restaurants. The food comes out hot and quick, never had bad service here, prices are competitive. Menu is extensive. read more

Overpriced and not the best. Waited 1 hour for my food to even be served.. it's decent food once served but not my go to.

Stopped here for lunch and it was great. I had the chimichangas and they were outstanding. Wife had tacquitoes (sp?) and my daughter had veggie quesodia and loved it. Everything fresh and tastey. Los humildes was really good. The food was great, the atmosphere was great as well. One of the ladies who helped served us spoke pretty well only Spanish so was definitely super authentic. They were great serving us. My only complaint is I got tacos and a water and thought I was going to pay around 12 dollars but my meal instead cost 20. I didn't have time to ask about it but just make sure they don't overcharge you. read more

I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in my neighborhood, and I decided to give Humildes a try. Upon entering I was impressed with the decor, and it looked very clean. I ordered a steak burrito with a side of rice and beans. It was the most awful so called burrito I have ever had. The tortilla was raw, not even toasted, the burrito was floating in rose colored water, which I had to pour off the plate into cup, and the tortilla was slimy and limp.. just horrible. I could not eat that as it tasted and looked like skin peeled off in a horror movie. I dumped the contents out and covered the soggy raw torilla with a napkin as it made my stomach turn to look at it. The contents was not much better. The entire "steak" burrito was 3/4 rice and limp lettuce that was obviously cooked or microwaved, instead of fresh and crispy. The meat was okay but not much if it. Needless to say, I was VERY dissapointed paying 14.50 for basically soupy rice, with a side of rice and beans. read more

Very clean and everyone seemed very nice! The one issue I had was the salsa. It tasted like straight marinara sauce, in a bad way. On the other hand, my burrito was fantastic. I got the fajita burrito and the vegetables on the inside were cooked to perfection. The queso was superb, that's saying a lot because i'm a queso snob. HAHA! One of the other meals that my friend had was tooOo much rice, not quite enough meat for him, haha! #meatlover! he's a carnivore! My sister also got a meal. It seemed good to me, but she said it was rather cold! Shes very picky about her food and I thought she was being quite unreasonable and dramatic! Delicious food and friendly staff. Very unassuming from the outside--but food is authentic and very tasty. We happened upon the restaurant by chance after a very long day of travel, not expecting much. But we both greatly enjoyed our meals and smooth margaritas!
