We watched people come and go, and we sat there waiting for a Boba tea for probably at least a half hour to which they finally said we are out of that flavor and didn't even ask us what we wanted but instead just gave us another flavor. The place is staffed by high-energy folks (family?). Amazingly, they assured us that each and every dish was spectacular. They volunteered recommendations. Fun! But getting to the food, it was excellent. I had the jungle fried rice, which was an unusual dish. It was the "wettest" fried rice ever and it was HOT! (But not too hot got me). It was loaded with perfectly cooked shrimp. My wife had pad Thai which was also quite "wet" (too wet?). It was a straight-forward version but just fine. My son had a football game in the area so we stopped in for a quick bite. The space was clean. The service was pretty good and the food was pretty delish. You go in and order at the counter. They call you up when your food is ready. They were very accommodating to my husband's vegan restrictions. I would definitely go back if we were ever in the area again. Check your order before you leave. They are unable to give a credit for the items they forget. If they forget to give you your food they'll wait over 20 minutes to call back (so you're already gone). They'll tell you they have a credit for you (but didn't take my name? So who knows if I'll ever get the money for my dumplings. They are the only store who uses a credit card machine that can't adjust an order because they made a mistake. The good news is that there is a new Asian place in downtown Elkhart called Furi. I have no problem with someone making a mistake-- and I totally get that people call and lie about this kind of stuff to get free food-- but the food they left is sitting at their restaurant. I'd love to give my business to local places when I am eating away from home, but this isn't the one I would recommend because they have no attention to detail and poor customer service. read more

Lordy Jesus their boba tea is phenomenal!! I had the passionfruit boba with passionfruit and mango flavor. This was a new food experience unlocked. Creamy, flavorful, and just sweet enough. So sad to be leaving a two star review after having such high hopes! We drove 45 minutes to pick up take-out, hoping this would be our new favorite spot. Unfortunately, my husband found the Panang to be way too spicy- he had to stop every two bites for a drink. The flavor wasn't bad- just potent. I love pad thai, I've had it at several restaurants in different States- and this was my least favorite. The sauce just wasn't what I was hoping for- too sweet, maybe. There was too much cabbage and it was stringy & soggy, hard to enjoy. The shrimp was pretty tough, sadly, since we paid more for it. The spring rolls were basic in flavor but I was so disappointed to find that the shrimp rolls (we also had veggie) were not even completely wrapped. One roll was completely open on the bottom, which obviously a person won't notice until they physically lift the roll off the tray. It was as if it tore or they didn't have enough rice paper & the person was like, "oh well, just need to get food out!" The portion size for a large order is HUGE. Definitely enough for 2, maybe 3 people. So in that regard, $13 ish is a good deal. I DO really like the house thai tea with tapioca pearls. $4 for a large is a good price & it has the flavor I hoped for. Also appreciated that it came with a clear wrap over top since it was to go. Sadly, thai tea isn't enough for us to recommend or revisit. read more

Love that there are more ethic restaurants open in the Elkhart area. Food was made fresh and the flavors were great. We ordered the rocket shrimp, beef salad, drunken noodles with tofu, hulla chicken wings, and jungle fried rice. My fave bites (everything was good) was the wings and the drunken noodles. The wing sauce was awesome because it was a good mix of sweet and spicy! The chicken was crispy even though sauce was on top which makes me SO happy! For a place in the middle of nowhere Indiana, I'm pleasantly surprised they have a Boba place. They have lots of flavors and it's clean. I got a large mango smoothie with black boba. The smoothie was fine. I would have rathered a slush, but they don't offer that here. The taste is good and I think they might use real mango, so that's a plus. The boba needs some work. It's not fresh and it's not flavored in any way. It appears that they cook the boba and then let it get cold. Secondly, the boba is relatively tasteless. If you don't know, once you've cooked the boba, it should be put directly in syrup to sweeten them. What we got was a hard, flavorless tapioca ball. Normally you get sweet, warm, chewy tapioca and that is the sign of a good cup of boba. Lastly, half of the boba was stuck together. If they could work on their boba game, that would really put them over the top. read more

I was excited that I found a Thai place in my hometown finally and it didn't disappoint! Everything is so fresh and full of flavor. Portions are huge, I got a medium and couldn't finish. Kao's is an excellent restaurant, run by the same family as Lucky's. I've had at various times, the wonton soup, dumplings, pad thai, drunken noodles, and others, and they all tasted very good. The only reason I didn't give a fifth star was because both the noodles had too much liquid at the bottom of the container, making the noodles soggy, without the proper chew, though it tasted great. Think it's related to using too much sauce in cooking, and not leaving it in the pan when they serve it. I get the wonton soup most days now, the flavor of the broth is great. They use the dumplings as the wontons, which works well, and are much more substantial than the usual ones you get. read more

You should go here. The food is good. I mostly get the Banh Mi and the Drunken Noodles. They are not always consistent, but they have always been good. About half the time the Banh Mi is totally outstanding, the other times it has been very good. Once the Drunken Noodles were totally lit. I mean charred edges but soft interiors; dry enough to eat managably without them sliding around, but moist and saucy; and the meat was not overcooked dry (as seems to be the case with most noodle joints). The other times I've had them they weren't quite as spectacular, but very good and I'll buy again. I've also had their pad thai and won't get it again. It was too sweet and saucy for me, but everyone's is different and there's a lot of personal preference in that dish. I'm not going to doc points for not hitting mine.
