I was surprised to find a store selling Birkenstocks, Teva sandals and Hydro Flask water bottles in such a small town in WV. They also had a nice selection of clothing and accessories for both men and women. On the second floor, they have the Otter Cafe which is a coffee shop that sells pastries. My chai latte was amazing! Better than the ones I get at Starbucks in Charleston, SC. I also tried a chocolate cream horn which is basically an ice cream cone- shaped pastry with chocolate cream in the middle. My wife travelled all over looking for a couple of food trucks that would be willing to travel to Marlinton and feed about 130 people for the rehearsal dinner. She located Tim Rock ( the proprietor), in Beckley and sampled his food. It was excellent. He features cheesesteaks, Italian sausage and burgers. He also makes wraps for calorie conscious. He had just recently been voted as the best food truck in WV. Tim maintained constant contact with my wife prior to the wedding and he was genuinely excited about taking on this challenge. He showed up at the designated location at the designated time, which was truly a blessing because the other food truck from Harrisonburg Va failed to arrive. We were really upset because obviously we didn't want to run out of food. Tim was very reassuring and told us that he had bought plenty of food for everyone. Now to the food. We didn't think of it at the time, but many of the guests were from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, the cheesesteak Mecca. Obviously most of them had tasted the best. Well I'm here to tell you that everyone said that those cheesesteaks were as good or better than any they had eaten. People raved about the sausage and the cheese burgers too. All of the food was delicious, fresh, and hot. Tim stayed over beyond the agreed upon time to make certain that everyone was served. We would not hesitate to hire Rock N Eats again, and goodness knows if we are ever near Beckley West Virginia, I know where I'll be eating. Thank you Tim Rock for making this wedding so memorable.

The Colonel (a big tea aficionado) has been holding board game events there on Saturdays about once a month. I recently had a quick bite of lunch there with a friend. They serve an astonishing number of teas in a variety of cups. Keira will explain everything to tea novices, and you can get single servings, double servings, or a pot. They have white, green, red, black, and herbal teas. Then they have hot grilled cheeses, cold wraps, deli sandwiches, and cookies and brownies for dessert. In addition, they have fun lil tchotchkes for sale, Der Sprossling bought an articulated wooden dragon toy recently for his mantel. Follow them on Facebook to keep abreast of the variety of activities going on, including tarot readings and other New Age events for body and soul. They have off-street parking to the side of the building. It is flat and pretty accessible. They have a bathroom, but I didn't use it, I'm presuming gender neutral/single occupancy because I only saw one door.
