My wife travelled all over looking for a couple of food trucks that would be willing to travel to Marlinton and feed about 130 people for the rehearsal dinner. She located Tim Rock ( the proprietor), in Beckley and sampled his food. It was excellent. He features cheesesteaks, Italian sausage and burgers. He also makes wraps for calorie conscious. He had just recently been voted as the best food truck in WV. Tim maintained constant contact with my wife prior to the wedding and he was genuinely excited about taking on this challenge. He showed up at the designated location at the designated time, which was truly a blessing because the other food truck from Harrisonburg Va failed to arrive. We were really upset because obviously we didn't want to run out of food. Tim was very reassuring and told us that he had bought plenty of food for everyone. Now to the food. We didn't think of it at the time, but many of the guests were from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, the cheesesteak Mecca. Obviously most of them had tasted the best. Well I'm here to tell you that everyone said that those cheesesteaks were as good or better than any they had eaten. People raved about the sausage and the cheese burgers too. All of the food was delicious, fresh, and hot. Tim stayed over beyond the agreed upon time to make certain that everyone was served. We would not hesitate to hire Rock N Eats again, and goodness knows if we are ever near Beckley West Virginia, I know where I'll be eating. Thank you Tim Rock for making this wedding so memorable.

It is a bit odd in that they offer a lot of tropical fruits and coconut-based ice cream; even if some of their stuff is grown locally I can't imagine there's a coconut farm in the mountains. Then again, the dairy-free crowd will be glad to know that there's vegan ice cream in the area. As far as food, their menu was only okay from a vegetarian perspective. The sweet crepe I did land on offered an abundance of peanut butter and Nutella that delivered on flavor, and the side salad I got was a decent size for the price and quite pleasant. There were a few chairs and a picnic table set up here, but it certainly doesn't offer the amenities of a full restaurant. Having said that, if you are specifically wanting something distinctive and local that's close to New River Gorge, this is one of your few options and does offer some good stuff.

Mind you, the restaurant was not packed, but they seated us in between two tables when there were at least 6 other open tables in the room. Server was quick, friendly. I ordered breadsticks, not realizing that they provide bread for the table (I made the assumption they didn't based on the menu having bread and breadsticks listed). The breadsticks were a very odd texture - seemed doughy but they were not undercooked, lots of butter & garlic. I had the stuffed shells for my entree. My salad consisted of lettuce and cut up tomatoes (which I hate), nothing more. Therefore I had lettuce with my French dressing. The entree came out quickly and looked great. However, the ricotta on the inside of the stuffed shells was super creamy and not very tasty. The sauce was ok, not sweet enough for my liking, but not bad either. The shells themselves were al dente, but seemed chewy. My husband had the shrimp cocktail, which he enjoyed. He ordered the chicken parm with spaghetti as his side. The chicken parm looked great, but seemed to be a frozen chicken patty that was deep fried and drenched in sauce/mozzarella. The spaghetti was pretty good. Overall, meh. Won't be back, but we had something to eat and supported local not a franchise so there's that.
