For some background, I had originally had the A/C compressor replaced about 30,000 miles earlier at Telle Tire in Kansas City, Missouri. That compressor eventually suffered a clutch failure that caused a fire in the engine compartment. Pope's was supposed to replace that failed compressor under the NAPA warranty. When I picked up the Forester with what was supposedly a new compressor installed, I noticed that the radiator had been unbolted and was literally just sitting unsecured in the engine compartment. The vehicle then overheated on the way home. When I brought it back, I was told there were "air bubbles in the hoses." But that raises an obvious question: Why was my radiator unbolted and left unsecured when the repair was for an A/C compressor? That wasn't all. I also discovered that the plastic undercarriage protector had been left unbolted and was dragging on the ground. That required yet another trip back to Pope's so they could fix it. Afterward, the Forester sat parked for several months while I waited for a replacement engine. I eventually had the replacement engine installed elsewhere. Then guess what happened? The supposedly new A/C compressor installed by Pope's suffered a bad clutch failure and started a fire in the engine compartment -- the same basic failure that had caused the original compressor to be replaced under warranty in the first place. Sound familiar? Bottom line, after my experience, I simply do not trust Pope's or the quality of the work performed there. An unsecured radiator, overheating immediately after the repair, an undercarriage panel left dragging on the ground, multiple return trips, and then a supposedly new compressor suffering essentially the same catastrophic clutch failure it was supposed to replace is far too much for me to dismiss as coincidence or a simple mistake. I ultimately had my replacement engine installed at Hicks Automotive in Sumrall and have had additional work performed there, including the A/C system. The difference has been night and day. Zach and his crew use quality parts and actually repair and replace what needs to be repaired instead of leaving me wondering whether something was rigged just well enough to make it out of the parking lot. I completely trust Zach and his crew at Hicks Automotive in Sumrall. Based on my experience, I would not trust Pope's with my vehicle again, and I certainly would not recommend them.

So you know those places that just make you feel welcome? This is one of them…read more It's a small business that focuses on rim repair apparently. Never knew something like this was a thing, but these guys do it so well it was like it's something mainstream. When you drive up, it is an unassuming grey building. The front door is locked but just call the number and this is where the magic starts. You'll get greeted by someone named Joey in a professional manner but he will still manage to treat you like an old friend. When the door is unlocked, the staff are warm and attentive. They'll listen to your problem and give you feedback on what the solution is. I went in because my wheel was leaking on my car. They told me they could get to it right away even though the small office was full of customers who only arrived a few minutes before I did. This is the best part. They were able to handle everybody in the office in a few minutes. They took the wheels from those who had them off their vehicles, and the ones who had them on cars were asked to wait in the waiting room: some chairs and a TV. Would've been a bit uncomfortable if anyone had to sit for more than forty minutes, but no. Everyone in that room was gone in that time frame. The technician, a kind young man named William, brings out their tire, shows them the problem, and gives them a time frame on repairs. His attitude is on par if not better than Joey's, but he just gives too much detail. I think he may be trying to make sure the person understands what is going on, but it can come across as a little much. Sweet kid though! Turns out my rim was corroded. Apparently chrome does that. I also know how chroming is done now. See above about the technician. The whole process took only twenty minutes from the time my vehicle was pulled around by Joey. Has not leaked since. Rides better too! These people will be getting my business if my rim is busted from now on!

I took the tire off and my wife took it to them and she said they were super nice and explained everything perfectly. After our conversation, I decided on another size wheel so I decided to give Brandon a call back. During our 2nd call Brandon insisted that I had to come into the store to see what wheels that have because he wouldn't know what I like, however I tried explaining to Brandon that he could just email me pictures of the 5 wheel types that they have in stock instead of me driving 45 minutes there and back to make a selection. He refused to send pictures, therefore he lost out on a sale for a set of tires and wheels. Brandon was not helpful at all today and it is very obvious that this company is making a great deal of money!
