    Japanese Family Crest
    Sandi R.

Whenever I go to Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, I always visit this shop because of the unique and amazing treasures. I bought myself a beautiful family crest. I subsequently wanted to purchase more for several other family members and I was happy to be able to order them online because I'm from San Diego. They shipped my purchases quickly.

Whether you're just a tourist in Little Tokyo trying to catch some "visually Japan" images, or you're looking for some unique gifts, or, you just want to have an unexpected and out of the ordinary experience, Bunkado will likely delivers that, if you just look closely, with a little patience. The store is full of things beautiful in Japanese ways: porcelain with shadows of clouds, bronze wind chimes with paper tassels, figurines, calligraphy, and even their own postcards (only $1 each!). And of course toys and products derived from the great Japanese pop culture of manga- - what's a Japanese store without them?! There have to be thousands of items here! Something for everyone - bargain hunters can quickly find the value items, while exploratory shoppers can spend an hour perusing everything from home decors to cassettes and vinyls from yesteryears. It's an experience you won't regret.

Wonderful shop in Little Tokyo. It is two stories and packed with all sorts traditional of items from Japan. In the second floor, you can find artisan green tea, kimono, prints, candles, etc. I highly recommend you stop by to pick up some souvenirs. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We were a party of 5 and waited about 15 minutes to get in. The young lady at the door was very sweet and apologized for the wait and long line. She informed us they can only allow specified number of people due to safety. It's a very small shop and everything is in close range. Neko Stop sells a variety of blind boxes and different series with different characters. Plenty to choose from. We did notice many of them are sold out. Customer service at Neko Stop is great. They have sales associate coming around asking if you need help and if there's a specific item you're looking for. Our child found the blind box series our child was looking for. We picked that up along with some stationary set and stickers. There are 2 check out counters and cashiers. The wait for payment wasn't too long, about 5 minutes. I was asked if I wanted a shopping bag by the cashier and I said yes because of all the merchandise we purchased for our child. Just be aware Neko Stop charges for a shopping bag doesn't matter how much you've spent.

Our last visit to Little Tokyo we weren't able to stop in here. I'm so glad we came this time! My teenager found so many cool items they left with a giant bag of things! They had lots of Japanese Kawaii collectibles and characters. My teen is currently into Hatsune Miku, Chiikawa and friends, Cinnamoroll, and anything Kawaii. This shop filled their shopping desired includin Chiikawa trading cards, lots of affordable Sanrio merch, and fun stationary. The people working were very sweet and rang us up quite quickly. They also gave us recommendations for a couple other shops nearby so my teen could scratch their Hatsune Miku itch :-) definitely recommend and will be back

Maneki Neko also operates a sister concept store called CATCH Little Tokyo located on the third floor of Japanese Village Plaza. [Parking]: As long as there are no special events in Little Tokyo, the Aiso Parking Garage (101 Judge John Aiso St) is your best bet. [Selection]: The shop has transitioned from primarily selling traditional decor / ceramics / cosmetics (which the shop still carries but in a smaller section) to focusing mainly on plushies and blind boxes featuring IPs like Sanrio, Pokémon, and other Japanese anime. Even though an officially licensed Sanrio store is located next door, Maneki Neko still has an excellent selection of Sanrio items that you can't find at the next-door licensed Sanrio store. [Conclusion]: This is one of those shops where I can probably find a Sanrio plush that I am willing to buy as a gift. It is a perfect example of a thriving shop that has learned to adapt by keeping up with changing consumer tastes.

The shop itself is on the smaller side, but they really pack a lot into the space. They carry a little bit of everything from snacks and blind boxes to household items and stationery. There's also a huge selection of Sanrio and anime merchandise, so it's a great place to find cute collectibles or small gifts. Whether you're shopping for yourself or looking for something fun for someone else, chances are you'll walk out with something. The staff has always been friendly during my visits, and while the store can get pretty busy at times, the overall experience is still enjoyable. Prices are fairly decent for the area which is definitely a plus. If you happen to be in Little Tokyo and enjoy browsing cute or quirky shops, I'd definitely recommend stopping by--it's worth the visit!
