Fun, cool, funky store in Little Tokyo. They have a bit of everything: home decor, nice, local souvenirs if you're looking for something cool, vinyl, clothes, music. The space is small, a tad tight quarters, but prices are decent and service is good, people working here are nice. More off the beaten path store with an eclectic mix of merchandise. read more

The store is small, but there is so much. It gives the vibe of a local music shop as well as gifts and other things, but really, the best part of the store is all the music -- the used Japanese music cds, the new Japanese music cds, all the vinyl. There so much used imported CDs. It was amazing digging through the stacks of used CDs while listening to city pop playing in the background. The service was friendly there as I came back there twice on the same day and saw different people behind the counter each time. I ended up picking up two used CDs of an J-Rock band I was familiar with for a fair price. I will definitely go back there again whenever I'm in Little Tokyo. I just need to make sure I give myself time to check all the music in the stacks. There's hidden treasures in the unsorted stacks as well as the new stuff. There's more things in there besides music, but I got really stuck on the music section. Take more of my money in the future! read more

Bought a Tsugaru style shamisen, a few bachi, and yubikake from them and Yoshihiro-san was even able to patch it up very quickly and affordably when I came back, months later, with a huge rip in it. Only took a few hours and $20! They also had a variety of other instruments from Japanese traditional to Western! I don't know of any other place quite like Ginza in the South Bay! read more

I only went to this store once, and had a horrible experience. I was at this store with my brother and partner, we are Latino/brown, and an employee was uncomfortably following us around. We hadn't even picked anything up, were still browsing and this elder kept peering over our shoulders. I turned and immediately knew what was going on. They definitely thought we were stealing/were going to steal. It's so disappointing because we, as community members, go in there to support a local business but I would NEVER come back here. If you are brown or Black, know that there is a possibility you will be profiled here. Do not spend your money at this store. read more

A really interesting bit of synchronicity happened the other day while waiting in line at Amoeba Music in Hollywood. I was looking for some records of traditional Japanese koto music and found Amoeba sorely lacking. An Asian-looking guy behind me in line was telling his friends that he had gone to some record stores in Little Tokyo to get Japanese stuff that Amoeba didn't have. Hmm! A little light bulb lit up in my head. A nice little sunny Saturday rolled around and I decided to make an urban hike to Little Tokyo in search of such exotic delights. Had a great lunch at Maruya Ramen and then I went to Ginza USA. They had tons of albums, mostly LPs, not just Japanese stuff, and I talked to the proprietor who directed me to exactly the type of traditional records I was looking for. Along the way, I found a great record by American synth wiz Patrick Gleeson, and another similar record by a Japanese group I didn't recognize. But the real clincher was the compilation albums of theme songs of Japanese children's shows from the 1970s! That was a real trip down memory lane because I used to watch some of these shows as a kid, and I had the toys and everything! I got two of those. Manga seems to be huge now with the young'ns, so if you are one of those and want the vintage stuff on LP, I suggest coming here. The shopkeeper is a bit of a "mother hen" and was politely bugging people about bringing drinks into the store, and the prices for these records were a bit high, but on the other hand, I walked out of there with a bunch of cool records that I was looking for and that I wouldn't be able to get anywhere else, even some of the hipster shops that are just a block away or so. read more

Was almost going to walk by, but glad we didn't! Stopped by and i was immediately drawn to their crystals. I've been practicing wicca more and more lately, and their amethyst stone called my name. As I was paying for my crystal necklace I realized by bf wasn't behind me lol he was DITC (diggin in the crates). We spent the day going to different record stores around LA. Our best finds were from here, Ginza!!! I don't even want to write this review bc I want to keep it a secret, but this store deserves the credit. We found original vinyls from blondie, Tom Petty, and The Pretenders (just to name a few, seriously we got like 12 vinyls) The owner was such a friendly man! He let us know the vinyls were from his personal collection. Wow, what a collection! He let us know he had way more at home and will keep replenishing the store. Support small business! Attention!!!! There should be no room for discrimination anywhere in the world. We're all human and that's all that matters. This small gift store left a bad taste in my mouth after how one of our family members was discrminated upon. Unbeknownst to me and while our group was browsing and subsequently bought some stuffs, she was being followed around by one of the store workers who was female and elderly and was wearing a kimono as if she was there to steal their merchandise. It became more apparent when this woman ran from one end of the store to the other end just to keep a close watch on our family member. The only reason we could think of was because she was black. We weren't subjected to such a despicable behaviour because we were Asian. Had we been made aware of this experience, we would have dropped the merchandise that we bought from this store. No decent person should be treated this way. We were in LA on a pleasure trip and next time we're there, I intend to give the store owner a piece of my mind. This is such a great, little store for souvenirs. I've been eyeing this old padlock, in the shape of a turtle. But I don't need it. Sigh. My friend got a pair of ninja trainer chopsticks for his kid here, and it was cheaper than that store next to Sanrio. It was really cool, they have cool t-shirts, and the owner was playing classical guitar when we were in there. read more

Yoshi is the man! I was looking for a Shamisen to learn how to start playing and he hooked me up with one that feels and sounds great for a good price compared to what the options were to order online. He also gave a good deal on a Bachi and threw in some extra strings! Highly recommend this shop if you're looking to get into learning some traditional Japanese instruments! read more

OMG.. Flashback to the days of the Goonies! This store kicks ass. It is one of those old Japanese stores that you visited as a kid...You know.. the type of store that the Chinese have replaced..except these items are classic. I love this place! My buddies and I always stop by here when we are in J-Town. I should have taken photos..next time. Here are some of the items: 1. 5 dollar bills with Lucille Ball, Leslie Nielson or Obama in the middle. 2. Playing cards with pictures of all famous actors and their mug shots 3. Hats that say "Samurai", "kamikaze" and "No. 1" in Japanese. 4. Kimonos 5. $10 Samurai Swords. 6. T-shirts with funny sayings in Japanese including "Dodgers #1" 7. Lamps and kites. 8. Traditional Japanese attire including shoes. 9. Foot long pens. This place has tons of novelty items. Everything is pretty cheap. This place will make you and your friends laugh. There are also cool items that you might just want to buy. You can even bargain. If you are in the area, you have to stop by. You will have a good time in here. We always spend at least thirty minutes and we never leave empty handed. read more

It's a tiny shop with only 1 aisle and we were just browsing around for souvenirs. It was nice at first, but then we noticed this old Asian woman who works at the store following my fiancée (a black woman) and me throughout the store, weaving through other shopping customers just to get near us. We were at the very back of the store and my fiancée went to put back a parasol that we grabbed near the entrance; the woman literally chased her assuming she was stealing. That left a very bad taste in my mouth as well as the rest of my family. I will not support/tolerate this racial stereotyping and prejudice behavior and I urge others not to as well. read more

I pretended to be a tourist after my yucky ramen lunch. I go to little tokyo very often but I never went here. I wanted to be the first to review but Mr. Bolsa already reviewed this place. A really cute place with little trinkets. It's dark inside but it's full of fun and cute stuff. Toy snake, Japanese paper wallet, miniature Japanese lucky cats, kimonos..just to name a few. I've been on a prowl for a specific item (a tea cup with the iconic "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" on it) but haven't been able to find it until I came to Ginza. I am absolutely happy with the quality, size and shape of the tea cup. They also sell plenty of other souvenirs as well. I also found out that the owner plays guitar in the Little Tokyo square, so cool! read more

There's a sign outside this place that reads "Omiyage" in Japanese, which translated into English loosely means souvenirs. And that's exactly what this place sells. They've your run of the mill LA stuff but they've also got Japanese things: daruma dolls, japanese toys, small figurines, cups and tea sets. If you're looking for someplace to buy small gifts to take home then this is the place to go. It's a bit dinky looking from the outside but the owner's pretty chill once you get inside. read more

I wanted the MahJong mini set since I have a HUGE gambling problem and that would be a cool little travelers edition so I can hustle anybody haha.
